Metro Immediate & Primary Care

I went to this place and I’m basically told it’s a flu, just get some rest. The front desk people inform me that it is covered by my insurance and I don’t owe anything.
I get no bill and go back basically for a bp prescription and a bc prescription and get charged another $ 120. No one tells me they charged me $ 95 dollars for my August visit. They said, this visit is free, you will not need to pay. Only to get a bill of over $ 200 in January 2016.
This is ridiculous because if I knew I would be charged $ 100 for basic services then I would pick my primary care carefully.
I wish they would just explain to me that they have to work with my insurance and send me a bill in the future. This is either negligent or fraudulent in my opinion.
Beware– check with your insurance before you go.

I came here very sick. I honestly want to give 5 stars but there were a few hiccups therefore I’m not sure. It’s a nice place, so clean all were kind and friendly. Wait time wasn’t too long either.
My concerns were, when a reproductive age female complaints of nausea and vomiting the doctor didn’t even bother to do a pregnancy test!
Then the medical assistant after sterilizing for blood draw touched the area without wearing gloves. I was a bit uncomfortable with that.
I’m not really sure whether I would go here again, because when its affiliated with GW your expectations are higher too.

Great urgent care. Took my 3 year old here on Sunday morning. Great service. In and out in less than an hour.

I’ll give 3 stars. I came here once before and it was ok, maybe 1 hr wait. But today, this is the slowest office on earth! I tried to schedule an appointment and they hung up on me twice. So I drove to the office without an appointment. The receptionist said the wait could be up to an hour and a half because i didnt have an appointment. Two hours later, they have only taken 2 people from the waiting room and it was just me and 1 other guy sitting there, waiting. A little after the 2 hr mark, I walked out.

I’ve always received good care here and the doctors have a great bedside manner. I dock them one star because the last two times I’ve tried to visit, they’ve been closed during advertised open hours.

The doctor is nice and professional. However, we had to wait a long time and the bill we received was huge, disproportionate to the service rendered.

I needed a refill on a prescription, so I called to make an appointment. The receptionist told me to just walk in at any time. When I walked in, I only waited for a few minutes before being seen. The PA I saw was wonderful, and her approach to medicine was wise — the fewer medications and tests, the better. All in all, the best experience one could expect going to the doctor.

Horrible experience with Dr. Efraim E. Kessous at this location. I would like it to be known that THE OFFICE STAFF WERE GREAT, very professional when attending to our horrible experience with this physician. This doctor was very un-​professional, mocking my wife, even laughing at her while describing her medical situation. After our horrible experience we asked if there was another doctor on site to assist with the blood work because we had come there for a physical and he said «the staff work under me!» Therefore my wife could not have her blood work done. Worst experience ever, would not recommend being seen by Dr. Efraim E. Kessous.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Metro IPC in Silver Spring. Two months ago, I went to the Capitol Hill location with inexplicable neuropathy and the doctor (who could not have been less interested) I saw told me it was probably my chair at work and that I should wait several months and come back if the symptoms still persisted. I don’t like feeling «off» but I tried to wait — two weeks later, I couldn’t take it anymore and by chance realized that there was a location much closer to me in SS. I went and saw a female doctor (better than the first doctor, but still impatient and skeptical of any problem) who ran some bloodwork, and I was told that they would call within five days.
A week later, I still hadn’t heard from them. I called and left a message and sent an email to the office. A woman at the front desk called me back, and admittedly my state of panic turned into a bit of snark when I was told that she «cannot discuss the results with you, but the doctor wants to see you back as soon as possible.» At this point, I was pretty sure that I was going to die. I left work early to get in with a doctor immediately and by chance ended up with Dr. Kessous. By the time he came in (there’s always going to be a wait, it’s an urgent care clinic, that’s what happens) I was so anxious I could have thrown up on him. We briefly reviewed the issue and he looked over my bloodwork and said «well, everything looks good to me.» I was clearly still a nervous wreck and he came over and went through every single line of testing and explained what the test was, where my number was, and why it was good. I had built up so much anxiety at this point that I think my body was prepared for bad news, and when he told me I was okay I started crying anyway. I kept saying «I’m so sorry, I feel like I’ve completely lost it» but he remained so calm and reassured me that I wasn’t crazy. He made me feel so much better about my symptoms (referred me to a great specialist for the one blood test that was questionable) and about the anxiety, which nearly every doctor I’ve ever seen has had no patience for.
I liked Dr. Kessous so much that I switched to make him my primary care doctor as well. I’ve had autoimmune issues since I was young so I’ve seen a lot of top primary care doctors and specialists on the East Coast and there’s only been one other that I’ve had such good experiences with. Dr. Kessous is very big on the notion that you have to do what is right for your body and be realistic and honest about it. He’s very smart but relatable and great at putting things in context. His bedside manner is frank but not condescending and he really gets that it can be hard to explain symptoms to someone who’s never experienced them. His method is a little different from doctors that come in, tell you what’s wrong, and move you out — I can understand how he might not be the best fit for everyone but I have never felt so comfortable with a doctor.
Even for the issues I had with the Metro IPC doctors and system at the beginning, the five stars is for the clinic (spotless, great environment, SVU is always on in the waiting room), the front desk staff (I know how hard that job is and they are always so nice about it), and Dr. Kessous. I made a Unilocal account just so I could write this.

Most unbelievable and disrespectful answering system. I asked the young ladies their names so I can complain on them and neither would tell me. Asked for their manager and they said they don’t have one. I would love to know how to complain and too who. I was looking for a primary and these ladies were not welcoming at all. I will definitely not be meeting with any doctors here because of those two. Rude, their tone was not appealing. I thought I called downtown silver spring, not capital heights.

Very bad experience. Went in very sick and was turned away because they had apparently met their quota for the day. It was 45 minutes before their posted closing time and the waiting room was empty, by the way. One of the nurses (?) and the receptionist gave me conflicting information about their walk-​in policy and then asked me if I wanted to make an appointment for the following day. If I wanted to make an appointment, why would I go to urgent care to begin with? I got frustrated and walked out. Thanks for nothing, guys.

I’ve been here three times over the past two years, each time as a walk-​in. Nothing but good experiences– quiet waiting room, never a long wait, kind staff. I especially like Dr. Roscoe Adams. He listens and happy to answer any question. Glad to have this place as a backup when I need an immediate appointment.

Horrible experience! I would not recommend you come here unless you want to waste an afternoon of your life.
I woke up feeling awful and thinking it might be bacterial I decided to go in. I called and asked what time is best since I was going to have to have my two little ones with me.
They dont have parking so you must park on the street or nearby garage. Street parking is 1 hr. They have a wheel chair lift but it wss difficult to get my stroller in and out of it. I clocked in at 11 30 am and left at close to 2pm. Why? I was originally told it was a 1 hour wait which turned into a 2 ½ and they said it would be an additional 30 to 40 minutes to be seen after I’d waited that long. So at least another hour before I’d be out the door. The front desk staff could have cared less. Unacceptable.

Just checked out Metro Immediate & Primary Care today for an infection and I’m in love! It’s very easy to find with parking garages behind and across the street. The front desk staff is very friendly and professional, with the office and rooms being very modern, clean and quiet. I forgot to mention I scheduled my appointment online after ensuring they accepted my insurance the night before, which is über convenient instead of waiting to be seen. If you can schedule an appointment online as opposed to walking in, schedule the appointment!
The staff is SUPER friendly, patient, understanding and professional. Dr. Adams is so genuine, he clearly loves what he does. He’s very accommodating, patient, knowledgeable, mild mannered, understanding, and thorough. This is the first doc to provide antibiotics AND diflucan AND one extra refill of each just in case. LOVE HIM! He answered all my questions, provided paper copies of my prescriptions just in case for the pharmacy and recommended other preventative measures I can take to avoid future infections and the need for antibiotics.
I will definitely come here for future immediate care (and possibly for primary care too)!

Went in early on a Sunday morning fearing that I was developing pneumonia (again). I was surprised at how nice the facilities were and that there was NO WAIT! The female doctor I saw (I can’t remember her name!) was awesome. After diagnosing me with bronchitis and strep throat (phew!) She took the time to explain everything to me and made me feel a lot more informed about my predisposition for respiratory illnesses. This place is fantastic and I’m seriously considering making it my primary care doctor’s office.

I want to give this place more stars, but I can’t because of the uneven care I’ve received there.
PROS
— My doctor, Dr. Britton, is amazing. I keep going here to keep her as my primary care physician. She’s knowledgeable, straightforward, attentive, nice, and she remembers and trusts me. I get great care from her. I wish she was there on more than just Tuesdays!
— The facilities are clean and comfortable.
— The front desk ladies are always nice and helpful.
— They work with you on electronic files, and can be very responsive by email if you need something.
— Scheduling appointments is easy.
CONS (explicated through anecdotes)
— Dr. Yang tried to give me bactrim for an infection. I told him I’m bactrim-​resistant; that it wouldn’t work. He gave it to me anyway. The next day (while on bactrim), I almost collapsed in the supermarket from pain. I called back in for cipro.
— I was a walk-​in appointment once, and was pretty sure I had strep throat AND and ear infection (I knew this from previous experience, AND because I had been treated at that location for the same issues 4 months previous). From the time I walked into the building till the time I left, 5 HOURS elapsed. Considering I had a fever, a cold, and was extremely uncomfortable and sick, this was inexcusable. They took quick cultures, and sent out the sensitivity panels for a more thorough check, but refused to give me antibiotics, insisting it was viral. I couldn’t get out of bed for the next 4 – 5 days. They called me 2 weeks later to tell me I DID have strep throat, and said «hadn’t anyone called [me] already??» By that point, I was on the mend, but I lost 4 unnecessary days because they either wouldn’t listen to me or trust me.
— They tried to charge me obscene amounts of money for a visit and subsequent labs because someone forgot to input my insurance information. This resulted in 3 wasted hours I had to spend on the phone to clear up the whole mess.

Went for strep throat and saw Dr. Adams. He literally came in, looked at me, and said, «Well, you’ve been right every other time you’re here, so what’s going on now?» I cannot tell you how awesome it is to see a doctor that trusts the patient to be able to tell them what is going on with their bodies. (See my previous review about Dr. Kessous insisting I didn’t have strep, despite the fact I get it at least twice a year.)
They did have to bring in a second assistant to swab my throat, which wasn’t that pleasant. The first one was totally fine, but it’s really off-​setting to be seen by a medical assistant who can’t pronounce what I consider to be pretty common drugs. Maybe I’m just a bit old-​fashioned and think that if you’re a medical assistant, you should at least be able to know how the most common pre– and suffixes are pronounced?
I had a positive reading on my rapid strep test, the Doc hooked me up with antibiotics and a note for work, even offering to write me an additional one if I still felt really bad (after debating on whether or not I wanted him to give me the extra day off, since I don’t have paid sick leave, which is technically illegal).
I’ll be back! Hopefully not soon. Bleh.

Metro Immediate and Primary Care are awesome and Dr. Roscoe Adams is great!
A few weeks ago, I was in the ER and received an antibiotic. Fast forward to Tuesday, I had developed a reaction to the medication from the ER and my regular doctor couldn’t see me til Friday. So I figured I would try Metro Immediate & Primary Care who had recently sent me a flyer about their services.
I went online and booked my appointed for 5:45 pm that day figuring it would take that long for me to get home. I managed to get to the office by 5:00pm and they took me pretty much right away.
I did spend a long time with the nurse and felt like I kept repeating what was wrong with me. (I knew because I have had the reaction before to the same drug.) The helpful nurse continued with all the questions.
Finally, when Dr. Adams walked in. I told him what was wrong. He looked at my labs and confirmed exactly what I knew was wrong. We didn’t have to go through all the formalities of an intrusive exam because there it was in the labs that took only a few minutes to run.
I was on my way to CVS with my prescription before my scheduled appointment at 5:45!
I am totally ditching my old doctor and making this my new go to place!

Dr. Roscoe Adams was awesome! He was very helpful, personable, and made me feel comfortable. I will be back to see him for all of my doctor visits. He’s also an alumni of my university, which was cool. Raquel was the nurse/​assistant and she was also nice.
The office was really clean and modern. One of the best doctor’s office I’ve been to. There were about 4 flat screens and cool magazines around (not a bunch of boring Health magazines), making the wait room enjoyable.
I did have 1 issue, however. The wait time. I came on Saturday, Oct 12^th, and the receptionist told me it would be a 40 minute wait time, but it was actually 2 hours. After about an hour and 20 minutes, I asked her how much longer it would be, and she responded «I don’t know». I thought it was a pretty rude and inconsiderate response. «I’m not sure, but let me try to find out.» or «let me check to see how many other people are in front of you or if we are expecting any other appointments» would have been the appropriate response. Her response almost made me just leave, but luckily I waited and was serviced by Dr. Adams.
I didn’t have an appointment, and I understand that those with appointments will be serviced before me, but at least let customers know periodically when they should expect to be seen. A 2 hour wait time when I was told it would be around 40 minutes is unacceptable. After 40 minutes to an hour, I would have appreciated her notifying me of any wait changes and at least letting me know what was going on, or that an appointment came in and I would have to wait longer.
I wouldn’t have minded as much if she would have just kept me updated, instead of seeming to not care with her «i don’t know» response.
Other than that, great experience here and I’ll definitely be back.

While I want to publicly applaud MIPC for their stellar service, accommodating staff, the ability to make an appointment online, and the COOLEST doctors ever, I don’t because I don’t want all you sick people getting in my way when I need to go see a doctor STAT.
This place is just plain awesome as far as urgent care centers go. Yes! You can make an appointment online– for URGENT CARE! Who knew such thing existed. It’s not even that easy to see my regular doctor.
And the location couldn’t be beat. I live in downtown Silver Spring and was able to walk to the doctor. Yeah, you read that correctly. I WALKED to the doctor when I was feeling under the weather. Usually, I have to take a cab, bus, or metro. I remember when I had pneumonia, I took a cab to the doctor and then a cab to the hospital! I probably wouldn’t even have gotten pneumonia if I could have walked to the doctor.
But I digress… MIPC is so clean, so new, so awesome. If you are sick, or getting sick, or need antibiotics, or an inhaler, this is the place to go. It’s wonderful.
