Lenox Park

This is supposed to be a secure building. They are supposed to call the resident to confirm if they are expecting anyone before they admit them, but they don’t. The front desk guards let in anyone who says they are there to deliver food. The other night someone knocked on my door at 10 pm to say he was there to deliver food, but I never ordered any. I called the front desk and the guard didn’t care. There is no quality control on security guards. Some are good but lately most are not. One of the good things about the place is that it is in downtown Silver Spring but a building in this location needs security. Also, often times they leave the garage doors open and anyone can get in that way. They charge a lot for the apartments and trust me, other buildings in the area have much better security. I am thinking about moving.

I lived in Lenox Park from 2002 until mid-​2015.
PROS
Maintenance lives on-​site and is very responsive. I never had to wait more than a day for a request to be fulfilled.
The newish manager, Danielle, is also very responsive and approachable. Of the four property managers we had while I lived there, she is by far the best.
CONS
About three or so years ago, under a previous property manager, the building’s public areas were renovated. Normally, a renovation would be a good thing, but in this case the building looked WORSE after the renovation. Think pink furniture (even the pool table is pink) and cheap, unattractive fixtures and furniture. Pink furniture is appropriate in a teenage girl’s room, not in an apartment building. In the outer lobby, there are cheap plastic ceiling lamps (Target?) as well as a damaged piece of furniture outside the leasing office. Not only that, someone thought it would be a great idea to incorporate WHITE carpet tiles in the hallways. I don’t have to tell you what foot traffic does to white carpet tiles. The hallways always looked filthy as the carpeting was not shampooed on a regular basis. Every resident with whom I spoke had very strong opinions (all negative) about the renovation, and guests to the building commented (negatively, of course) on the condition.
If you decide to move here, please be careful when crossing East-​West Highway. Vehicles routinely run the red light, and most will not stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk.

I strongly advise you not to live here.
Fake Branding:
Lenox Park touts the name «luxury» everywhere but I think it is a joke. There is no doorman, there are substandard services, and the only big thing they have is location.
Location:
It is in the middle of Silver Spring, near to the NOAA buildings
Safety:
The police are called here constantly.
One night I saw several police officers on the 2^nd floor, with guns drawn.
There are people dealing drugs in front of the building on a daily basis.
The front desk has been alleged to hit on every passing girl.
Price:
Lenox Park is attempting to charge approximately $ 600 – 800, or more, extra a month if you go month-​to-​month. The industry average is 10%, not 25 — 35%
Amenities:
The sauna never works.
The pool is all of 4 feet deep and often times is green (unsafe). The lifeguards don’t guard at all, so if you have kids, consider the pool unsafe for them.
The hot tub never heats up all the way, and is poorly maintained.
The balconies are too small to be usable
The gym is not competitive with the Georgian or other local complexes. They have been missing weights for at least 3 years and they don’t bother to correct it.
Noise:
You are right near the train tracks
You are next to the metro
You are at the intersection of East West Highway and Colesville Road.

Management:
Most residents say that things were better at Lenox Park before the management switched. Now the service level has decreased dramatically according to long term residents.
Competition:
You can move into a much newer building either the Georgian, or other newer complexes here in Silver Spring.
Conclusion:
Lenox Park could be a great complex if it was just better maintained and got some new management. For now though, it is the dumps with a good location. Still, go with another complex!
5.07.15 — The 3^rd floor garage entrance has been broken for a month. A MONTH!!! I’m not sure whether the management for Lenox Park are uncaring, or simply have no idea how to schedule repairs. However, this situation is untenable. #horriblecomplex

I have lived here for over a year. Unfortunately, I am moving in a week. I wanted to write a review of this place.
The building is nice and very well maintained. There is a nice fitness center, pool, and jacuzzi. They also have a nice lounge and business center. It is also across the street from the metro and within walking distance to many things that downtown Silver Spring has to offer.
I will say that they are not as nice and modern as some of the other buildings around… but they charge comparable rent. I think the rent should be a bit cheaper. They also like to let several people move in and out and once, so good luck with elevators on weekends. Also, they need to invest in better windows, especially for apartments that are located on the street side. I live 14 floors up and I can hear EVERYTHING. I can hear the metro announcements, I can hear the street crossing signal beeping, and I can hear people on the street laughing.
If you plan on living here, I would highly recommend a unit that faces the courtyard. Otherwise, you will hear every bit of street noise. No matter how high up you are, it will sound like you are street level.
I never had any run-​ins with the staff. They all seemed nice. Anytime I needed something fixed, it was done very quickly.

I lived there about 2 years. It is way overpriced and although they call it «luxury» apartments, they are not luxury by any stretch… its just a marketing ploy to call it «luxury» and its bogus. However, they have no problem charging luxury prices. They also charge about $ 100 extra per month to park in the congested parking garage.
The people working there are nice enough, but the noise is what I really didn’t like — that damn subway runs all the freaking time, and the fire engines and ambulances scream by that very busy intersection constantly: DAY A.N.D NIGHT. I was on the 8^th floor and it sounded like I was at street level — I even heard the crossing signal beeping all night (with the windows closed), but you sort of either get used to that or just don’t sleep.
One other thing that I absolutely hated was the constant smell of cigarette smoke — it came out of other apartments and seeped into mine through the walls and from the hallway. It really stunk! Too bad the building isn’t smoke free.
On the pro side, I absolutely loved having the convenience of a metro stop outside the front door and the easy walking to downtown silver spring. But that convenience simply ain’t worth this particular apartment building.

I loved the location. You can’t beat living across the street from the metro. I caught a low income tax credit program fortunately. I got a large 1 bd corner unit. No upgrades but still nice. I had trouble with the A/​C and discovered some mold in the bathroom and a closet later on. Aside from that, I felt safe with the concierge and secure entry. The walls are concrete so no sound got through. If I heard anything, it was my neighbors door slamming shut or people in the hallway, which was rare. Parking was tough on the weekends if you dont have a reserved space. They have Zip Cars too. I would say it’s a well maintained property overall. I was also spoiled by the Subway restaurant, dry cleaners, and nail salon on the bottom level. I miss it!

The location is fantastic. The beer and wine store is great. The upgraded apartments are decent if you get the right one. The pool is very nice during the summer for the few hours it’s available to residents during the day.
The issues are: price, management, décor, and lack of amenities.
Price: upon the expiration of my one-​year lease, Lenox decided to jack up my rent by a few hundred dollars. In comparison to its competitors down the street, the price was at least $ 100 more. Lenox takes advantage of the fact that residents would rather pay more than have to move to a newer, nicer apartment and pay less.
Management: nickle and dime you at every given opportunity. I paid $ 500 *non-​refundable* for my pet who has not done any damage whatsoever to the apartment. Lenox takes advantage of the fact that their residents would pay almost any ridiculous amount to live with their pet. Other competitors do not charge nearly this amount.
Further, the electrical socket in my kitchen stopped working one day. The workman found water inside the electrical socket and there is clear water damage on the wall surrounding the socket. Management did only a scant investigation of the water’s source. I was essentially told that the water just sort of manifested itself in the socket and that it was not coming from leaking pipes somewhere in the walls above.
Also, with the exception of Nosta and (I believe his name is) Brian, management has been generally argumentative and unaccommodating. My washing machine broke-​down about six times in a row before management would replace it. Nonetheless, those two front desk employees are outstanding. Nosta is there almost as much as I am and Brian works nights. They are personable, intelligent, accommodating, and well-​rounded employees.
Décor: straight out of the ‘80s. When I moved in a year ago, I was told that construction would begin immediately and everything would be updated. Just about one year to the date, the décor is exactly the same. The two main elevators which residents ride on a daily basis, have moving tarps covering their walls ²⁴⁄₇. I’m not sure is management is just too lazy to remove the tarps when the elevators aren’t being used for moving purposes, or if management has just refused to designate a single elevator solely to moving. Either way, the tarps are a serious and constant eyesore.
Lack of amenities: there is no business center. Management had the opportunity to replace their «sky lounge» with another amenity, but management took the greedy route and turned the place into a large apartment. Also, with the exception of the pool, the other amenity (there is really only one), the gym, is outdated.
Overall, this place does not compare to its competitors up the street. However, the positives somewhat balance out the negatives. Overall, it is an okay place to live with average service, amenities, and living space. However, I would not necessarily recommend Lenox over its competitors.

My husband and I have lived here for 4 years and just signed another 2 year lease. We love the staff, the amenities, the location, pretty much everything. To tell you how awesome the staff is, last year on New Years Eve at around 11pm, our kitchen sink started leaking water and after calling the front desk, maintenance came immediately and fixed the problem. The front desk staff is also always very friendly. I have never seen cops in or around the building nor have experienced any serious disruptions. If we ever experience a problem we immediately tell either the front desk or management and they are VERY quick to fix any problem.

I moved here 6 months ago and chose this building sight unseen. I’m very pleased with Lenox Park. I don’t have granite and know some of the units have hardwood floors, but that’s ok! The ²⁄₂ set up is nice. THe master is a tad small (but i have huge furniture) and it works just fine. The ac/​heating needs updating, but it’s been ok. The maintenance requests are fulfilled same day or next day and the front desk is friendly. I’m happy with the security of the building and have a child. However, There is NO playground or anything for the kids. the location is GREAT. If you aren’t used to trains and metro sounds at night, then you won’t be happy here. You can hear the trains and horns at night– but it doesn’t bother me. The mgt has building functions and my child has been happy with them and so have I. I have thought about moving, just to get a cheaper placebut am not sure i want to leave the convenience of everything. I have not seen any bugs or rodents at ALL and am happy with the building as a whole! :)

My wife and I have lived here a year and really enjoy it. Great location — across the street from the Metro (even if it is the Red Line). Walking distance to three supermarkets, including the Giant right across the street.
The apartment complex has some fantastic amenities, including an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, two gyms and various stores located in the basement of the building.
The apartments themselves are efficient, most have balconies and dishwashers and washing machines. The utilities, which are not included in the rent, are reasonable, even in the midst of a HOT summer.
My only compliant would probably be the customer service (or lack there of) of many of the front desk employees, most of whom are somewhat rude and surprising unhelpful (excluding Gibson, who is great!).
Overall, we are so happy that we chose Lenox Park as a place to live!

I lived here for a year with a roommate I found on
Pros:
–the gym. it is small but NEVER crowded!
–the pool/​hot tub. wish the hot tub was open year round
–safe
–clean. no mice or bugs, except a few flies if we left the patio open
–great roommate setup for the ²⁄₂ apartments
–location. the silver spring metro stop is literally across the street. so is Giant, Rite Aid, Einstein Bros, Starbucks, and a few others.
–the staff was friendly and helpful
Cons:
–parking is pricey, but you save money if you get a tandem spot with your roommate
–raised the signifigantly after our first year. I think they realized what a bargain we were getting! Still worth it, though.
