Love the atmosphere and the service is great. I’ll be back!!!

I almost wish I was back in school just so I could come here and study alongside a cup of coffee. The atmosphere is perfect– sit by the window for more lighting or if your laptop illuminates your space, there is ample u-​shaped chair seating or comfy leather seats near the bar or in the back. Nice selection of baked treats.

Great chairs A LOT of them, almost too many, but a decent atmosphere. I don’t always go to coffee shops for coffee but when I do I’m hoping to be able to drink the coffee, the coffee here is undrinkable, seriously the worst, gas stations have better coffee. In fact I wish I could bring a 7 – 11 coffee here to enjoy.
It’s also very loud and seems like it’s still searching for its identity… that makes two of us Kaldi’s…

Nice roomy local coffee shop with a very friendly staff and very tasty drinks. Full disclosure I have only had the lattes but they are very good. Try them, you won’t be disappointed and you’ll be supporting a local business.

Pros: Cool décor, kind of industrial/​modern. Creamiest richest iced chai ever. Amazing Napoleon (Mille-​feuille) with puff pastry dipped in sugar or something… it was out of this world good.
Con: almond croissant… there was no almond paste in the middle. It only had a few almonds on top and some powdered sugar! Not very good.
Loved hanging out and reading while enjoying my desserts!

Exactly the coffee shop Silver Spring is looking for! I can’t believe I just found this place and I’ve lived close by for almost a year. You want in and notice the lighting is just right for any mood: reading, studying, or just talking with friends. It’s pretty large and has a small outdoor area as well. Comfortable seats and conducive to be by yourself or even a group of 10 (there’s a big circular table with 10 chairs). Honestly, I always look for places like this whatever city I’m visiting… And this is exactly what I look for.
Food: I only had the Neapolitan but that was delicious. The price was decent. The iced coffee was great too (came in a chilled jar cup).

Overall… Good job Kaldi’s. I think I found my new coffee shop.

Great spot for working, studying or just grabbing some coffee and chatting with friends. The coffee is good and service was on point.

I loved the open air vibe this café had last summer when I first came upon it but I’m absolutely enamored with the upgrade in tons of space and comfy furniture. We ducked in here on a cold blustery day to warm up with some hot drinks and this was the cozy oasis we needed.
I dock off just one star because the cashier girl wasn’t so pleasant and I didn’t hear anyone calling out my order.
This is very much seems to be a place people like to study and work which I will definitely utilize in the future. My boyfriend got the regular coffee and I got the London Fog. I remember getting a London fog last year and I don’t remember it being this good. It was perfectly sweetened and creamy with a hint of vanilla. My boyfriend doesn’t like sweet drinks but he enjoyed it a lot as well. The desserts look absolutely delicious and pretty. While we were sitting on the couch we kept seeing trays and trays being transferred from the kitchen. I definitely have my eye on that chocolate peanut butter dome! I’ll definitely be coming back in the summer for an afternoon treat or for a study sesh.

Very nice place. The coffee shop was spacious and nicely furnished with plenty of seats and tables, but on the Saturday that I went the place was packed. We had to walk around a few times before we found a table for four.
I had a latte and it was nice and strong. The desserts were also very yummy. I didn’t buy the desserts so I wasn’t sure what they were called, but we tried the tiramisu, a peanut butter dome shaped dessert, a puffy and light cake with blueberries and strawberries. And I would recommend all of them.

Definitely impressed by the new Kaldis.
They recently expanded so it’s 3X the size, and I’m not even including the soon to open rooftop!
They have ample dessert options to go with your variety of coffee including Cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, london fog, dirty chai, and my favorite, the dark mocha made with less sweet! My least favorite was the matcha, did not taste like real matcha, skip that.
The opera cake was heavenly, and their coffee cake was good too! Now that they finally expanded, it is a wonderful place to come and catch up with friends or enjoy a quiet afternoon.

Amazingly good product! I had a traditional cappuccino (superbly executed) and a piece of coffee cake unlike any coffee cake I’ve had elsewhere. The dough was denser and slightly sweeter and the crumble top much thinner. It was quite good and the first few bites I was primarily excited by the newness. By the time I finished it, though, my thinking was that I would have preferred a traditional coffee cake where there’s less sugar in the dough, more air in the dough and more sugary crumble on top.

This is a coffeehouse that deserves to be recognized! After hearing so much buzz about this place from other cool Unilocalers, I had to visit. So after my appointments, I came here. First visit, I got a dirty chai and a fruit tart. Both really good. Fruit tart is a must try! I think my pic speaks for itself. The service is amazing. The coffeehouse is very cozy and chill environment. Plenty of sofa chairs, they are very comfortable! They also have a large communal table. Free wifi just ask the baristas for the password. Subsequent visits, I had a London Fog (earl grey tea and frothy milk) really good. They have cappuccinos here and do the designs with the milk. Lemon tarts are good but the Nutella scones are #love! They sell out very fast. If you get one consider yourself lucky. I had them only twice and it was so delicious. I hope they expand into downtown DC.

Almost a 5 star. Probably the best «real» coffee house I’ve ever been to in the suburbs. Love the setup and feel I could actually come and do work here, whereas at Starbucks I am always uncomfortable and can’t wait to leave. Had a delicious vanilla latte and a wonderful muffin. The employee who sold it to me told me it was blueberry but I’m pretty sure it was raspberry. The girl who made the coffee was great. The one who rang the register (and sold the muffin) could have been friendlier. I got the impression they are used to dealing with regulars and this was my first visit so I felt a little lost, and a little rushed in trying to consider the menu. Could NOT get comfortable on the couch I was seated on — kept sinking lower and lower!!! And the wifi was not good — got disconnected and when connected it really wouldn’t work. Now that would be a huge impediment to my being able to work there (which would bring me in regularly). Loved everything else and love the location away from the crowded Heart of Da Sprung and near an older but gigantic parking garage. Free parking on weekends — holla!!!
Definitely plan to return and try a few more pastries and drinks. Hopefully I will not «try» the nerves of whomever serves me, as I felt I was doing today!

Great desserts! tried tiramisu and lemon&almond tart. But not so great coffee. I would never drive out of my way to Kaldi’s for a cup of coffee. Very mediocre in taste plus my latte was lukewarm-​just not acceptable

I headed over to Kaldi to shake up the morning routine a bit, and I really like the vibe of this place. You feel like you’re part of the neighborhood, where you can just hang out, do some people watching, and have a relaxed start to your day.
The coffee here is quite good, prepared by friendly baristas, and you can purchase some ground or whole-​bean Counter Culture coffee to bring home with you.
While I loved my coffee, the almond croissant was disappointing, with the sugar on top being pretty much caramelized to the point of being crunchy and the pastry being on the dry side. There wasn’t much almond inside to speak of, with the ones on top just falling right off when you bite in.
Choose your seating carefully! The big table up front is great for reading the paper, but the short squat tables in the front are really uncomfortable since you can’t get your legs under ‘em. The ‘bar’ looks like a great place to hang, with tall, comfy-​looking seats where you get a ringside view of what’s going on behind the counter.
All in all, a nice change of pace, and I’d just choose differently when it comes to the baked goods next time, opting for a breakfast panini instead — the ones I saw going by looked good!

This place is super cute. However, I feel like they have an identity crisis. The furniture is all over the place. The café definitely lacks a theme. But the overall environment of the place is cozy and thus making the place pretty relaxing and cute.
I got their matcha latte. It’s not real matcha. They use a ton of artificial sweetener. The massive amount of syrup type of sweetener they use makes the latte very sickening. It gets sickening after a while especially if you the get the large like I did…
Overall, this place is a cute place to study or hangout to chat. But, it’s not the place to get your matcha dosage.

It was definitely a cool place to visit but the service was not so good. The lady that made our coffee was a bit passive aggressive and sarcastic when we asked her a question.
We will not go back for sure no matter how good food they serve. Sorry.

Not really sure why there are so many high ratings here… They do not have any sort of pour overs UNLIKE Unilocal says (I searched «pour over coffee»). Besides espresso they only have drip coffee which the barista could not even tell me what they had roasting. They say they serve Counter Culture but she told me it wasn’t… Staying at a hotel about 10 mins away, I wish I hadn’t walked in the snow to get here. Coffee was fine for drip I guess but really had wanted a higher quality coffee/​brewing methods.

Kaldi’s…Kaldi’s…Kaldi’s! What more is there to say? This place never fails to disappoint!
By far, Kaldi’s is one of the best coffee shops in the entire DC area. The food, baked goods and most of all… the coffee is major good!
The vibe in itself is unique, organic and one that all coffee shops can take notes from. It’s spacious, wired throughout, has lots of communal working space to take in a casual telework day or leisure stop for a quick coffee run. Since coming here when Kaldi’s first opened over 2 years ago and now… as the word have spread around about this place, I have noticed Kaldi’s was becoming a very popular stop and too crowded at times to the point where you could not find a seat in the place. At times, it was something you could deal with but at the same time very annoying; especially when folks are shoulder to shoulder in the place. I actually stopped coming here for a while because of this. Well, that’s no more an issue. The entire place has been renovated… and a top notch reno for the better I might add.
The new space is incredible and the layout is even better than before! Thumbs up Kaldi’s! I spent most of my day there teleworking yesterday, to break the imprisonment and cabin fever I was having from the snow blizzard. Just hanging in this place, I found my productivity was on a high and I was able to get a lot done without distraction. I even was able to take in a conference call without disturbances. True guilty-​pleasure confessional: I probably had too many delicious sweet eats while I was there too! I am a sucker for homemade sweets. Their Sticky Bun and Raspberry Cheesecake is my go-​to cheat eats BUT… the Strawberry Frasier Cake is on point and by far my favorite! I swear… hands down this place has an incredible Strawberry Frasier Cake! You must try it! Oh… and one more favorite… The Extravaganza aka Chocolate Orgasm… Dark Chocolate Ganache, Milk & White Chocolate Mousse Center & Brownie w/​Nuts Bottom! Man… you can just wave the white flag after that thing!
In all, Kaldi’s is one of a kind. Great customer service, chill vibe, and most of all the best coffee grinds. Ever since my first visit, over 2 years ago… this place has been nothing but consistent in everything they do and serve. 5 Stars easily! Visit for yourself and you to will see why.

Had their iced coffee, which was good but not fan worthy. HOWEVER, their tiramisu is amazing! i highly recommend you try that. The cashier was sweet enough to see if she could find any more since there were none in the display case, and tiramisu is my absolute favorite so i was ecstatic when she was able to find one! Now the negatives. Although there is tons of space to study, it’s kind of hard to really find a good one with outlets. I would come here to just read and peace, not to use anything needing power. Noise level kinda varies and the music is pretty good

Amazing space to get work done – plenty of comfortable seating options near the street or further towards the back. Newly and sharply renovated. Robust internet connection, could use a few more outlets.
Coffee and tea varieties are standard, but well done.
Food options are slim, and pre-​made. Sandwiches are only heated up there, not made there. Pastries looked good.

Wow, what a disappointment. I used to be a majorly loyal customer, I would come here every single day and get a great drink… Then they stopped making my drink correctly consistently. I drink an iced caramel latte with half decaf.
They’d make me caramel mochiatos, hot drinks, normal iced lattes… Anything *except* what I’d ordered. I found myself on four or five separate occasions having to explain to the barista the difference between a caramel latte and a mochiato (a Starbucks drink, and it’s annoying I have to explain that over and over that a latte isn’t a mochiato… The first time was funny… Second time it was amusing– The fourth or fifth time, not so much…) A few times I left KNOWING I had a caramel mochiato but I just didn’t want to wait all over & have them remake it again. On close to a dozen occasions the baristas would have to make and remake my drink.
You have to have 20 – 45 minutes planned from your schedule to accommodate for parking and for time for employees to make mistakes and make your drink a couple times for them to get you what you ordered. I stopped going to Kaldis except sporadically, and every time I have gone It just wasn’t good anymore.
I went for the last time today. My boyfriends drink wasn’t good. Then we waited for my drink, and out came a hot latte… Emily realized (she’s great, always) and told her colleagues to remake it… So we waited and watched as they started to make other customers drinks & NOT remake my drink… So they were prioritizing other customers over us even after making a mistake. We waited twenty minutes and then said screw it because we were trying to get somewhere on time. We left down the $ 4.50 and without the drink, and we just won’t come back again. I told my BF to at least go back later for the drink or the refund, and he said he isn’t interested and that losing our future business is good enough for him.
All the best to the good employees and here’s to hoping that the other baristas are able to pay attention in the future & make the drinks that people order because you’re losing loyal customers.

Ample space for working — great location if you want to get work done, as there’s a wide variety of seating — large tables, at the bar, comfy chairs, etc. We showed up at 11:30 am on Saturday and the pastries were almost totally out and the sandwich machine was broken :(. The pastries we tried were delicious (sticky buns) and the coffee, excellent. Not sure I’d make the trip back here, but definitely solid option.

One of my favorite coffee shops in the Silver Spring area! They recently renovated their place so it’s SO much more spacious. PLENTY of comfortable seating which is one of the many reasons why I love this place. Love the cozy and laid back atmosphere! PLUS, their coffee is amazing. I love their lattes! Friendly and quick/​efficient service. Love how consistent they are!
Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to study/​read or a hangout spot for a group of friends, I would highly recommend this place!

This is the best Social house in the DMV, I just come down here after work and just relax, the teams are really cool … The best thing though is that Kaldis take every cup very serious … The consistency man, you get the same quality every time. Thank you Kaldis team.

I just left Kaldi’s and it left such an impression on me that I decided to come out of Unilocal retirement to review it. Since moving to the area four years ago, I have been searching for a café that reminds me of the quaint, cozy and socially conscious establishments I fell in love with while living in the San Francisco Bay area. I think I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for in Kaldi’s.
The moment I walked in, everything just felt right — the unique and cozy vibe, cushy leather seats, diverse clientele, and a complete lack of pretentiousness. I enjoyed a delicious chai latte and a highly productive couple hours of lesson planning (I’m a teacher).
For me, the one thing that would make this place perfect would be a community activities element. Whether it be an open mic night, regular live performances, a knitting group, book club, etc., having a calendar of events hosted by Kaldi’s would make this place a dream come true.

One of the best places of cappuccino in Maryland, if you are new in USA you will know it is difficult to find place submits the right cappuccino with Italian taste, it is one of them with comfortable chairs and clean place, their prices are reasonable

This place was awesome. I was driving through Silver Spring and had had an urge to get a mid afternoon coffee so I pulled out my Unilocal magic wand and found myself parked on the side street where this coffee shop is located. From the ridiculously high Unilocal reviews I was pretty sure that this place was going to be good but my experience inside exceeded my expectations.
This is what a coffee shop should be. It is spacious, occupies a space that has been restored or repurposed and has an industrial design. It has lot of comfortable seating and best of all had good coffee and pastries. The drip coffee was very good although a little bit expensive. Who knows, it could be on par with Starbucks but I rarely go there anymore so I wouldn’t know.
Overall, this is a cool hangout spot where you can spend a few hours on a rainy afternoon
I also liked the diverse crowd inside. There were Ethiopian dudes chilling, white guys reading the newspaper, African-​American girls doing their homework, and Asian-​Americans in a study group.

This place just keeps getting better and better. They have awesome customer service, great ambience, and even better coffee. I really can’t wait to see what they do with the upstairs. And hope they open shop in the Rockville or Bethesda area in the future. I can definitely see this place branching out like busboys. Small suggestion – we need outlets, otherwise all is delightful.

Found this gem during lunch break at my nearby school campus. I love love love searching around for bakeries and cafes that have good quality pastries and this is one of them!
Ordered the chocolate dome and a pistachio macaron. The chocolate was definitely spot on because it was not too sweet which I look for in pastries. I also loved the touch they added to the macaron.
The service was also awesome and staff was friendly!

Wow, I really liked this coffee bar! Some of my favorite people and I came to check out Kaldi’s Coffee Bar after having noshing on some food in the area (because, you can’t end a day without having some dessert! :P This neighborhood spot has been around since ’13 and serves Counter Culture coffees, deliciously-​baked (all on the premise!) pastries/​cakes, and even custom-​made cocktails. I had a chance to try their Chai with some Half & Half — this is literally one of the best Chai tea I’ve had in a very long time! It had the perfect amount of spice, was creamy, was wonderfully frothy, and served hot hot HOT! We also shared some pastries, such as the Coffee Cake (crumbly and not too sweet), the Opera cake (you can definitely taste the hint of espresso!), and the Naughty Napoleon (my favorite out of the three, as it had a lovely cream in between the layers of the crispy puff pastry — yum!). Service was super friendly and sweet, and never once did I felt rushed during our whole coffee/​lounging time! Some of the kind and friendly staff members also came by to make sure we were doing okay, which I appreciated! Currently, the place is going through some renovations, so seating is kind of limited; there were some flickering of lights in the area where we sat, so there could have been a permanent light fixture. However, the place itself was charming and had a lot of character, and reminded me of my favorite coffee shops when I was in school. Definitely a laid-​back place where you can do some work, read, catch up with some friends, and/​or enjoy a nice cup of delicious coffee/​pastries :D Check this place out!

If this rating was purely for their coffee (and DIVINE tiramisu), it’d be five stars.
However, when you factor in the long lines, no place to sit indoors, limited seating outdoors, and challenging parking situation, it quickly diminishes to three stars.
Perhaps I should try to visit this spot on another day besides Sunday, but Sundays are THEE BEST coffee shop days. Le sigh.

Many Unilocalers like Kaldi’s but I’ve not had good luck there.
I seem unable to get a hot, steaming cup of coffee – it’s just warm. When I ask staff what’s available in terms of brews, they aren’t really eager to answer me. Overall, I don’t find the customer service to be strong. The fixing station is located in a bit of an awkward area and can be poorly maintained. The establishment is not the cleanest – that doesn’t help matters. Last time I stopped in, there was only one table placed outside for seating in this georgeus summer weather we’re having, and a broken chair was at that table. Kaldi’s could use some perking up (coffee pun intended).

Love this coffee shop! Staff is very friendly here. Coffee is solid and my iced tropical green tea was refreshing. Really impressive latte designs! Plenty of comfortable seating and nice tables.

I’ve only tried their pistachio and vanilla macaroons (it’s no Pierre Herme but decent quality), all other pastries always look delicious.
I like their pin board with the neighborhood announcements, I always discover something cool and exciting.

Today is my day to reat myself, so im taking today to go to places that fit my vibe of the day. Although i should eat dinner first a stop for alil sweet works. Walking in, I felt a very chill vibe. A bunch of younger generation and business people working or chatting. The gentleman working the counter was sweet. I asked about the pastries and he was very willing to explain them.
The tirmasu which normally has a coffee taste is more like a sweet Graham cracker cake. It has a white chocolate and marscapone mousse, it’s quite tastey although no lady fingers, a twist on it. I like it. I’ve never had a macaroon so I got the pastichio macaroon. To my surprise it is quite tastey. A slight crunch but soft and not too sweet.
The vibe is chill and the pastries are nice. It’s worth a good try.
