Do you wish you could find someone to talk to for yourself? Or does it seem as if everyone in your family would benefit from learning better ways to get along and get things done? My years of experience as both a parenting expert and a family therapist make me uniquely qualified to help little kids, big kids, grownups and families. I’ve taught well over 1500 parents how to have healthier, happier, and better functioning families and my award winning published articles illustrate my good-humored, yet practical respect for life’s ups and downs.
The people who consult with me report that they feel much more encouraged and hopeful after our meetings, and that our conversations are always useful and interesting. My approach is both collaborative as well as respectful, as I help people and families regain their equilibrium, figure out solutions to problems, and get back on track again.
History
Established in 2004.
My career began with my own family when I realized that my wild and wooly 2 year old was driving me crazy. Luckily, I had one of the oldest and most famous parent education programs in the country to turn to. I went to PEP in 1994 to learn that I could be both a firm and a friendly Mom and raise self-disciplined and happy children who were self-disciplined and happy! I continued on to become a Certified Parent Educator, too, teaching dozens of classes and sharing this great information with other frustrated, angry parents with their own upset and un-cooperative children.
Ten years later, I became a family therapist, opening my private practice. I’ve become well known as an encouraging therapist, one who combines respectful appreciation with a cheerful optimism that makes it easy to connect with her.

Since 1995, I have taught more than a 1500 parents how to have calmer, more cooperative, and more cheerful children. My classes have included topics such as «Afraid to Try, Quick to Cry, Helping your Anxious Child,» «Arguing With Your Teen,» «Helping Your Underachiever with Self-Discipline and Motivation,» and «Setting Limits with Your Extra-Challenging Child.»
I opened my private practice as a family therapist in 2004, after completing my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (M.S. from Univ. of MD in 2004).
Today, I continue to teach, give talks and media appearances, and publish articles including my monthly column «The Heart of Parenting» in the Takoma Voice, Silver Spring Voice, and Rock Creek Voice newspapers.
