DB Genesis Hardwood Flooring

Without a referral, we had to go with our gut when selecting a hardwood floor installer. We interviewed 5 different companies, each with high online ratings. We decided to choose Dony’s team at DB Genesis to do the work. His quote was competitive, and he was somebody we trusted!
Dony was prepared that my wife and I would be a particular client (2 architects), and we asked a lot of him. His team installed wood flooring in our kitchen to match our existing wood floors, refinished the hardwood throughout our home, refinished stairs, patched several locations, filled gaps, and even fixed squeaks. His work is impeccable.
Ricardo visited our home (after work) the day the job was completed. We walked through the entire house to ensure that the quality of work was what we expected. It was great!
It has been 7 months since the work has been completed. I recently called Dony back for another small job; once again, I was impressed by the quality of work.

I highly recommend D. B. Genesis. Dony’s crew did an amazing job refinishing our floors. The wood is so gorgeous, I don’t want to move the furniture back in! Dony and his team did an incredible job sanding and staining our Maple floors. He took the time to communicate thoroughly each step of the way, and made every effort to ensure that I was satisfied with the work that they completed. My GF and I just bought our first house and inherited some very old and ugly carpeting which was covering hardwoods underneath. We needed the work done on fairly short notice right between Christmas and NYE in order to move in ASAP and avoid paying January rent on the apartment we were vacating. Donie showed up on time, gave a thorough appraisal, explained what needed to be done, and gave us a very good estimate. He had his crew out a week later and they completed the whole thing in three days. During this time he always got back to us promptly when we wanted to get updates or ask anything. In the end the floors looked amazing, everything was within budget, and we have been thrilled with the result. His before-​and-​after shots really showcase how skilled his crew is and we can’t begin to say how much better the house looks. I recommend them without reservations.

DB Genesis rocks. In summer 2015, i became tired and embarrassed about my dirty beige carpet and wanted an updated look for my townhouse. After reading the Unilocal reviews, I took a chance and got in touch with Raul. He was very pleasant over the phone and in person. He gave me a very honest assessment of what would work well for my house. After thanking him, I said I would like to get a few more quotes and I would get back to him. He said no problem. After contacting 2 other companies, I was definitely sold on DB Genesis. I called Raul to schedule an installation date for fall 2015. He called back with dates and to correct an error he noticed in the quote. My install was somewhat complicated and the DB team handled everything with true professionalism. They juggle staff to ensure that the right team member is available to handle the various aspects of a multi-​story installation. Team arrives on time, works hard and does a good (not great) job with cleanup. I will definitely use them again, and I have referred them to several others. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for being such a wonderful and honest company. Others need to learn from you.

I think a company should be judged not only on what it gets right, but how it handles small mishaps. The DB Genesis crew did an excellent job with my wood floors — they replaced some boards so well that I can’t even tell there was ever a stain there — but there was a misunderstanding about how I wanted the trim pieces handled.
However, Dony quickly sent a crew back out to fix the problem with absolutely no trouble or argument, and also provided me a floor cleaning kit for my trouble. As an aside, there was hardly any dust left behind when they were done, and they stuck to a pretty tight timeline. Highly recommend.

Great hardwood floors at very reasonable prices. On time and on budget. Dony and his crew are great to work with. We had a tight window to install floors before we moved into our new house and Dony was able to install the flooring in one day and on the date that best worked for our schedule.
We would definitely use Dony again for future flooring needs.

We recently had the hardwood floors redone in our house, and they turned out great! After closing, we pulled up some carpet to find more hardwood floors. Unfortunately, they were damaged from a previous owner — multiple stains, some poorly-​patched repairs, and a broken stair. Dony and Raul did a fantastic job working with us to figure out a solution. They were easy to get in touch with, got the job done on time, and the floors look great! The stains blend right in with the stain (they were deeper than sanding could take out), and the patched wood blends right in with the original wood. We couldn’t be happier with the floors in our new house!

We recently purchased a condo in Chevy Chase and had DB Genesis refinish the 1960 era parquet floors. I could not have been happier with the entire experience from start to finish. The team was professional and very easy to work with and the floors turned out better than I could have hoped.

After getting several estimates from highly rated floor installers I soon found that the biggest and highest in demand is not always the best. I soon went searching for another vendor. I can’t say enough good things about DB Genensis and the high quality work they perform. First of all Dony will professionally install your floors, maintain ongoing communication while offering reasonable prices. My daughter wanted to remove parquet floor and replace them with hardwood. The floors were not level which added to the challenge. Dony is results oriented and a problem solver. He quickly offered us a solution to leveling the floors using self-​leveling concrete. The floors are stunningly beautiful and DB Genesis exceeded our expectations. So readers know that I do not give out 5 star ratings without them being deserved. Dony will not disappoint you. He is EXCELLENT and I both refer him and use him again.

Dony and his crew were professional and courteous from start to finish. He suggested some nice touches– like a nice ‘frame’ around the fireplace and he put pads under the furniture legs! How thoughtful is that?! He communicated all fees and charges ahead of time– there were no surprises. They cleaned the room when they were done and put the furniture back in place. It’s rare to have such a pleasant service experience– we highly recommend Dony and his crew!

I am very happy with the work DB Genesis Hardwood has done in our house. Dony came on time and gave us his honest opinion about what our floor needed. He also gave me a reasonable price for the work. I am most impressed by the quality of work they did and how they took very good care of our furnitures moving up and down the stairs. They certainly know good customer service. Wow! This company did an *amazing* job refinishing hardwood floors in our Kensington home. Donnie and his crew were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They were very prompt in responding to our original inquiry, coming out for a quote, and arriving early the day they started in order to sand a spot so we could see a few stain samples (and very patient as we were deciding). No sales pressure. And above all, gorgeous floors, with all the previously problematic spots looking just like new. All this at a reasonable price. Seriously, these guys are the best!

I can’t say enough positive things about this company. Dony came and gave me an estimate. 2 days later his crew arrived – on time and ready to work. They moved the furniture – carefully; they removed old carpet in the dining room; they sealed the rest of the house off with plastic sheets; they sanded and refinished the floors; put quarter round around the living room and dining room; and then to top it all off they put the furniture back! It looks like a new house. And the price was fantastic to boot. Incredibly professional company. A++++++

Last month, DB Genesis refinished the hardwood floors throughout my home in Silver Spring, MD. My house is all hardwood except for the kitchen and bathrooms (around 1800 sqft). They did an excellent job! The floors looks fantastic and they completed the work quickly but were very thorough. They also extended hardwood floors in an awkward hallway and rebuilt 2 stairs the drop down into a family room. It looks perfect and matches to 50 year old hardwoods that are in the home.
The only thing I wish I had done better was to ask more questions about what is included and make sure everything is spelled out in detail in the contract. A couple of the finishing details (transition pieces and molding) I thought were included since they were discussed in the initial walk through ended up costing extra. Not a deal breaker, but I should have added more detail to the contract before signing it. Dony was quick to work with me because of the misunderstanding and I could not be happier with the work.

I’m a big fan of Donnie and his crew. My floors look fabulous! Donnie was very helpful and patient in the planning and explaining the different stains. I had a good feeling about him from the start. As he promised, his crew and him were very reliable. They moved the furniture themselves before they worked and covered mirrors and opening to prevent dust. They showed when they said they would, worked hard the entire day, came in at estimate, finished when promised, even cleaned up, and placed all the furniture back in the right place with little protective mats under the furniture to prevent scratching. They stand behind their work. If you have a question or concern after the job is done and paid for, they come right back. I would recommend them highly and will use them again as soon as i am ready to do the rest of the house. Excellent work!!!

In April 2014, they removed my old carpet/​padding and sanded and stained the wood floor beneath in my parents Gaithersburg condo. As I do not live in the area, Dony maintained excellent communication with me by phone and text, prior to the work starting and after the work was done. Dony even texted me photos of the work in progress and the completed work. My tenant, who saw the previously carpeted floor, was pleased with the quality of the refinished wood floor when he moved in.
Dony did what he promised at the price quoted; he is conscientious about the quality of his work and he communicates well with customers. I am pleased with DB Genesis Hardwood, I would use their services again and I recommend that you use them too.
