Citron

I stumbled upon this property while apartment hunting and the leasing staff definitely left an impression. From the second I walked through the door – LITERALLY – everyone I encountered was accommodating and knowledgeable (especially impressive bc I dropped in without an appointment less than an hour before closing – sorry!).
The property was clean and well-​maintained. The landscape, common area design/​layout, and even the floor plans seemed well thought out & executed. I noticed the leasing agent knew the name of every tenant we passed during the tour. It all lent to a very «unfussy» atmosphere. 4.5 stars

The staff was extremely rude. No apologies for keeping me waiting for over 30 minutes to see the property. Almost no acknowledgement of me even being present. When I was finally acknowledged, she told me to wait 20 minutes. You would have thought I was there begging for a place to live for free. That lack of attention when I’m just visiting the property is very telling of how attentive/​concerned the property manager & team will be once I move in.
It’s unfortunate because it appears to be such a nice property at the right location.

I have lived here for 8 months now. Love everything about it except for the noise. I can hear every move the person in the aprtment above me makes — not an exaggeration. This person isn’t doing anything out of the ordinary, it just seems like there is no sound insulation at all between floors and it’s made worse by the hardwood floors. Also, my apartment overlooks the pool area and it’s like a fish bowl. So the sound by the pool area is also very prominent. When people have parties out there it’s like I’m part of it whether I want to be or not. If you don’t mind a lot of noise, then everything else about it is very nice.

We’ve lived at the Citron almost two years. Best decision ever! It’s pricey but TOTALLY worth the price in every way imaginable. The staff is marvelous, as are the premises — impeccable at all times.

We absolutely loved the location of Citron Apartments. It is walking distance from CVS, Whole Foods and so many restaurants to choose from. When we had the huge snow storm i was still able to go to Whole Foods to get some ingredients i needed to bake a cake and i loved the convenience of it. The apartments are beautiful inside, and the party room is gorgeous. I used to have play dates with my daughter and other children that live in the apartment complex. I definitely recommend living here due to location and the amenities inside the complex and outside of it!

Just moved here to be closer to work, and can safely say it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
First off, for us, the location can’t be beat. We didn’t want to live in a high-​rise near the Silver Spring Metro (too busy) and the Citron is a smaller, five-​story building on the fringe of the residential area of Silver Spring but still within a block of downtown. The smaller building really fosters a sense of community, which we love. Turn left out of the front entrance, and you’re ½ mile from Sligo Creek Park. Turn right, and you’re one or two blocks away from great restaurants, Whole Foods, movie theaters, and hair salons. Six or seven blocks to Silver Spring Metro.
OK, so the location is nice, right? But if you’re living in a junky apartment, does location really matter? Good thing we don’t have to worry about that. The property is BEAUTIFUL. Every detail, from the landscaping to the fitness center, is impeccable. The concierge is always friendly, and the leasing office staff is TOP NOTCH. Our apartment is beautifully appointed, with stainless steel appliances, high efficiency full-​size washer and dryer, balcony. The floors, paint, light fixtures and granite counter tops are high quality. These details matter to me, and Citron really delivers. They also offer reserved, gated access garage parking (at the time this review was written, $ 125 a month) but the garage is located directly underneath the building, so you can elevator straight up to your apartment. We don’t currently take advantage of this, but it’s nice to know that we have a secure place to park should we want it. There are also free, secure bike cages in the same garage to lock up your bicycles.
There’s also a pool and lounge area. Free coffee in the lobby is an added bonus! Online portal for residents, so paying rent and submitting maintenance work order requests are all in one place and can be taken care of ²⁴⁄₇. If you’re an
fanatic like me, and you get packages delivered weekly, you’ll love the email they send you when you have a package waiting.
Let’s get to the price. Do what we did; Google every apartment building in the Silver Spring area… you’ll narrow it down to six or seven candidates. Then read the reviews and let them speak for themselves. The Citron is probably one of the top two most expensive choices, but for us, it is worth EVERY PENNY. I would rather pay a little extra every month for peace of mind that I’m living in a safe, clean, quality building where my maintenance requests are completed in less than 24 hours and the leasing office knows me by first name.
Seriously, if you’re on the fence, just go check it out. We’ll be neighbors in a few weeks.

I have had the best experience at Citron. Everyone in the leasing office is extremely professional and personable. Natahcia, the Assistant Property Manager, is awesome. If there is anything you need, they are right there to help. The property is beautiful and well kept. I absolutely love it and highly recommend making Citron your next home!

I loveeee my apartment ! The building is soooo nice, clean and classy ! Gym and poool are great. People who work in here are so friendly. I just love it.
