Established in 2003.
Debra Bates-Schrott left the design firm she helped create, Rabil & Bates, in June 2003 to launch Bates Creative Group. She started Bates Creative with four employees working out of her townhouse in Maryland, and in November of that same year, the Bates Creative team moved into its first offices in downtown Silver Spring. Now with 13 employees, Bates Creative has garnered more than 70 design awards for a diverse group of organizations, including Cisco, PeopleSoft, Primedia Business Exhibitions, the Pentagon Memorial Fund and the U.S. Marine Corps. Bates Creative Group recently launched the Marines iPad magazine app, the first official U.S. military iPad magazine.

Business Owner
Debra Bates-Schrott is the founder and chief communications strategist of BatesCreative Group. For nearly 20 years, she has led award-winning teams in creative art direction, branding, magazine design and marketing collateral development.
Prior to launching Bates Creative Group, Debra was managing partner and cofounder of Rabil & Bates Communication Design, where she led the creative team in magazine design, branding and website development. Debra has has served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Magazine Association (FMA), the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan
Washington (ADCMW), and is currently a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). Debra also speaks regularly at industry conferences and serves as a judge for numerous creative competitions, including the FOLIO: Ozzie Awards.
