History

Established in 1981.

In 1981 George E. and Betty L. Thornhill formed Southwest Building Systems as a sole proprietorship after selling the family Airstream travel trailer and taking the risk of going into business and stepping out in the entrepreneurial mindset. George, who we miss every day since his passing in 1999, was completely involved in the entire Sales and Management effort. Betty (currently the CEO) was responsible for auditing the Accounting /​Finance. Don Youngs (retired, but still the technical professional) provided the Technical and Installation Support. Today, after 30 years of business, our company is housed at 1530 Hwy 327 W. Silsbee, Texas in a two-​story building.

Business Owner

David joined SBS after graduation from Lamar University with a business management degree and two years experience working in the banking industry. In 2006, with 25 years of electronic experience from the ground up, David was promoted by merit to President of SBS.
