Office Depot

I haven’t been inside of an Office Supply store in years. This place is right around the corner to my house. I wanted to grab a binder and some dividers to help organize my recipes (I know it’s dorky but it’s true).
I went there and noticed all the binders cost over $ 4.00 even the Office Depot brand. Finally after spending multiple minutes staring in disbelieve at the prices I got over it and grabbed a teal binder. I paid my $ 4.79 and headed home to get stuff organized.
At this point I’m over the cost of the binder and I’m excited that I have a new project to start. I grab all of my recipes and open up the BRAND NEW binder and my hands turn burnt orange color. It turns out the binder rings were completed rusted.
The whole experience was so frustrating. I ended up going to Target the same day and getting an Avery notebook for a little over a $ 1. And guess what? It’s not rusted or anything.

Terrible customer service! The Asian guy with a long ponytail pulled me out of line to ring me up at the copy center, but only added me to a new line… Needless to say, by the time I was rang up, my original line was long gone and depleted.
No music was on in the store, all the lights are out and the place is dreary. Staples is much better and friendlier!

Arrggghh I come here to print my slide and it’s a lot most of the time they let me used computer for free just log in my student central then I come here 11:04 morning monday jan 4 2016 and the girl in front Karla Lara told me they can’t let me used the computer anymore to print my slides if I have it in flash drive or e-​mail to them kinda funny coz the one I will print is a lot 350 slide per bundle. they change their policy about that using computer. I’m so mad coz I drive far just to go to that place and she suggest me go to Palos Verdes used computer 5 mins and I keep tell her it’s a lot how come home Depot don’t e-​mail customers about changing policy about using their computer just to print only… this not helping student. I’m not gonna comeback in here and I would glad tell to all my classmate used to come in home Depot junipero location. they don’t help @all!

The only reason I ‘shop’ at his location is because it is close to my house… and that is the only reason. I had to start placing my order online, pre-​pay and stop to pick it up. The female that was the cashier had THE worst customer service skills I have seen. She was far from a teen-​aged employee but she certainly needs some training or a new job. ‘Manager’ was right there and he was equally not helpful. I have been to this location approx 6 times and each time the experience was less than 1 star.

Horrible customer service, there are 4 people not one has said hello or acknowledge that I’m here … It’s NOT even busy only one other customer I see.
Took them 15 minutes to ask if I needed help… Really?!? So I’m just standing here with a box just because … First and last time here!
I dislike places that give shitty customer service.

Service at check out was good. Prices seemed a little higher that what is advertised at Staples, but was able to get what we needed and get out quickly.

Karen, a staff member at this location, was super helpful and friendly. She knew the best deals and listened to my requests. I had a great experience and left feeling taken care of and getting a great deal/​sale.

Gary is a very nice man. I bought a Toshiba laptop from this location and he is very helpful and kind. Thank you

Somehow you can always get what you need here and never fear a long line. Its almost like the warehouse of Office Depot’s. I love this location and all I shop for are school supplies.
They also offer printing services and even a large selection of gift cards. The parking lot is small but that doesn’t matter because they never seem to ever be very busy.

Love the customer service, everyone is so kind especially sweet Roma she is the best! This is my to to go place for all my office needs and I love printing here so fast convenient and easy. Thank you Office Depot in Signal Hill see you soon!

Came today to print out some files in color paper. Employees need to have better knowledge on what in inventory they carry and explain the prices a bit better. Other than that I liked that they allowed me to use the computer to download file and it wasn’t as busy.
Would I recommend it or come here again, probably not unless it was an only choice or on near.

I purchased a small Tablet from Office Depot in signal hill and needed it to be self-​supporting, (able to access e-​mails, maps, etc.) on the fly.
I took the tablet home, tried to connect and was not successful. This tablet was a Wi-​Fi only connectable tablet. I could not add it to my phone data plan, or any phone data plan.
I took it back to the store with the package intact, the original receipt, and the store personnel credited the account I used to make the purchase for the full amount and it didn’t take several days. The refund was instant.
My BF purchased me a replacement tablet which is 100% what I needed.
In Office Depot some store personnel are knowledgeable about electronics and some are not. Just be informed on your product when you go in and you will have few issues. They usually have what we need here and there are few hassles
I think Office Depot in Signal Hill will be my office supply of choice, there are others but experiences in other locations have been less than rewarding.

Rory was fabulous! I was here last week with my boyfriend to purchase a computer (my Valentine’s Day gift hehe) and he was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely return here with any questions or problems.

I went in this morning to buy some new cartridges and got the best customer service from Bill the manager. He was very attentive and professional. I will be going back to purchase a new PC for my daughter.

I’ve had many poor quality customer service experiences here. My last straw was a 2+ hour attempt at ordering furniture. I ordered a desk, two cabinets, and a chair. I also go four guest chairs. Here’s how it played out:
The first and second attempts, the associate didn’t know how to use the system, so it timed out and he had to re-​initiate the order.
The third attempt, I looked the items up online, and found the cost was lower (even though these items were on sale in store). So we re-​initiated the order so I could get lower prices.
The fourth time, the order was initiated but the wrong items were put in. There was a misunderstanding, I wanted to order four desk chairs, but they didn’t have them in stock. This was a large issue and took a very long time to explain. I am unclear as to why it was a big deal.
By now, the floor manager comes over to help. We put everything in, but he doesn’t stay to make sure the order closes properly. We get another time out.
Sixth attempt, the order goes through, proper pricing, correct items, everything a guy could hope for. However, my credit card declines. I’ll consider this the point at which the sale was completed, because we finally got to the finish. At this point I have been in the store for two hours, twenty minutes. Again, this is for a desk, two cabinets, and chairs.
I told them I’d return shortly. I call the CC and my office purchasing department, the order is out of the ordinary and has triggered fraud protection. After confirming I’m legit, they release the card and I go back in. They told me they’d save the order, which they didn’t, so it has to be done all over again. But at least that was an unusual situation (I hope?) so I can be understanding as to why they would make that error.
I do the online survey and let them know the experience is bad, the manager calls me the next day apologetically asking about the situation. I appreciate the gesture, but it doesn’t solve the issue that their systems and operational management is dysfunctional.
Following that, I receive another call (this is the day after the order), and the delivery company says they’ll deliver the following day between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Unfortunately I have a plane to catch, which is why I arranged (in-​store) for the delivery to happen between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Because I’m traveling for business, the shipment must now be delayed for a week. The delivery manager who called me does not leave a message, so I have to call the main corporate line, tell the robot to connect me with the manager, then arrange delivery rescheduling with individuals who struggle with basic English (both speaking and comprehension). This is true for both the rep on the main CS line, and the follow-​up confirming the new appointment.
Usually my office depot experience is simpler: purchasing supplies, then waiting in line for 10 minutes to check out. I know what to expect, so I came in prepared for an inefficient transaction. However, this was ridiculous. A two hour check-​out time, plus an additional headache with the delivery? Stick with your favorite e-​tailer and their one click ordering.
If you’re wondering why I went, I don’t have much of an option because OD is the preferred vendor for my main office.

Okay, I’m a little shocked that I’m about to write a review in defense of a Big Box store but here goes…
1) It’s a big box store. The scourge of small business, the American middle class and the entrepreneurial spirit. Duh. It’s evil.
2) Because it’s a big box store, there’s a good chance it has mediocre and/​or high-​turnover management and employees desperate enough to work under that management for what’s almost certainly crap pay.
But … 3) I’ve found the employees to be unfailingly polite and helpful every time I’ve gone in for random stuff.
And … 4) I’m evil too. I’ve called them a bunch of times to check price and availability of Product X compared to my Amazon Prime [crack-​habit] deal — where’s my home-​team loyalty?!! — and here too they have been great. Friendly, competent, helpful.
I mean, it’s no boutique office supply run by a real live Human Owner with pride of management and customer service. But that’s because we let all those die. So this is what we get. And while it’s not exactly inspiring, it ain’t as bad as some of its cohorts.

Not a super fan because I think everything here is extremely overpriced, but we use them for the majority of our office supplies and I think one of our employees comes in here so often they think he owns the company :)
Decent selection, nice staff but not always very knowledgeable, the check out line isn’t set up very well but hey it is what it is… An office supply store.

This store really sucks! I had been going to this specific store for the last two years. The manager guy always has an attitude. I got so fed up with his ignorance, I walked out and told them to keep the crap I was going to purchase. I then drove to Staples and purchased the items.
You really should get rid of your manager. That dude’s had a chip on his shoulder and bad attitude for the last 2 years, since I began going there. There is no reason for his attitude. I make more damn money in an hour than that dude makes in days, and you don’t see me with an attitude!
Today, I was originally purchasing approximately $ 160 of office supplies. I was going to also purchase 2 $ 50 gift cards for employees. The cashier rings up the items and begins to ring up the gift card. She then calls the rude manager to override a transaction. The rude manager comes up to the register and says I have to pay cash for the gift cards. My God that is total nonsense!
For starters, who carries cash on them? Definitely not me. Never have, never will. A debit card is the same as cash. I might understand not taking a credit card due to the merchant fees, etc, but a smart business would filter such costs into the cost of doing business and either charge a small fee, or mark up the price to cover said costs.
Second, what’s the purpose of purchasing a gift card and having to pay cash, when I could simply put cash in an envelope and place it on the employees desk? I swear businesses and the idiots they hire are so God damn stupid now days.
The rude manager was blaming the card company when I confronted him. I then informed him that it was not the prepaid card company’s fault; it was Office Depot’s policy. I further confronted him, informing him that the rack the prepaid card came from stated you could pay with cash, debit or credit card. The entire time, the manager was constantly saying there’s nothing he could do… with attitude of course.
Well, Office Depot, you lost our company as a customer. I will be closing all Office Depot affiliated accounts, and I better not ever see another damn email or flyer from your ignorant company!
Upon walking out, I overheard the manager projecting said fault onto me, along the line of «sorry you had to deal with that» type of statement to the next customer in line.
A word of caution to your manager and company. I strongly advise you to correct your actions immediately! You could get yourself into serious legal trouble. The manager’s negligent behavior alone borders a potential defamation of character tort claim.
I hope you go out of business soon. Amazon has way better prices anyway!
