David Stephens Golf

I cannot recommend David Stephens highly enough. As you can read from the other reviews he is not your usual PGA pro. First and foremost, because he is an exceptional, grounded and optimistic individual, with a heart the size of Australia… his manner is especially encouraging. I think most of us agree golf can be just a tad frustrating time to time. That great solid contact you had for the last 6 months has mysteriously disappeared… which is why encouragement goes a long way with me. However, his knowledge, skill and ability to demonstrate anything he is able to bring up on the V1 app, is what really earns him his reputation as such an amazing instructor and coach. There’s a myriad of reasons he’s been awarded Teacher of the Year countless times. Few of the coaches I’ve seen or read about have both the talent, skill, experience as a Pro themselves, but are as equally adept at teaching. It’s one thing to be an amazing golfer (and believe me, as he casually just picks up any club laying around and without a warmup, sends one beautifully anywhere he wants to put it… he is…) but to possess the innate talents to teach a person without those skills or perhaps talent, to improve their game dramatically, is nothing short of incredible. I can honestly say that now, when something alien starts to creep into my swing, I don’t panic because I’m certain «Dr. Dave» will be able to help me. And he is far from predictable. After working over a year with him, I never know quite what approach he’ll take to help whatever area I need to look at. I just know that I come away from every lesson psyched to come out and practice what we worked on and take it to the course. That’s I suppose what is also so special about his nature. He brings out the joy in this game I fell in love with. Which quite regularly comes through having a good laugh at myself. I might mention that when I started to pick it up years ago, it was intimidating for a woman to head out on her own to the range and even more dire to imagine being added to a group as a plus one, having a bit of shyness already in my personality. Women, men and children of any level will benefit from the confidence he will instill in you. And as another reviewer mentioned, helps you keep things in perspective.
Talent, wicked skills, refreshing sense of humor and wit, the observing eye of an eagle, unique inspiration, getting you to think, not just drill… teaching you why the ball is going right, left, low, high… and amazingly… the ability to help you develop your own, unique swing that enables you to enjoy playing this great game. That’s the experience I have learning from this amazingly talented yet very humble man and stellar human being.

David is just amazing… I I took my wife to see him so she can learn how to play and I wanted to see if he could tweak my swing a bit. After just a couple of minutes talking to him we knew we were in the right place. I can’t tell you how long we actually worked on swing mechanics, alignment, grip, swing plane, loft, speed, grip, etc… And actually, I don’t care. David reminded me that golf is just a game to be enjoyed. Sure, we did some of those things but it wasn’t so much a lesson as an observation and slight fix. Isn’t that what we all want in an instructor? There’s nothing worse than someone trying to mold your swing into one that emulates a PGA tour pro and their mechanics. We’re not pros and never will be. A no nonsense, humorous, down to earth guy with the BEST approach towards improving your game. Without all the gadgets, websites, books, videos, etc… Just hit the ball and enjoy the walk! Nothing can be more enjoyable and David will make sure you get your game where you want it to be. Physically, but more importantly, mentally and spiritually. Can’t wait to see him again soon!

Golf is HARD! I have a real passion for the game but just like everyone out there we all get frustrated. I was tired of shooting the same scores and not having any consistency. I felt for me to reach my goals in golf it required professional help. And let me tell you after only 2 lessons with David I can honestly say he has the answers. After the first lesson he showed me one thing in my grip and it totally changed me. It was eye opening and really helped me out with my pull hooks with the driver. But the best thing about him is how he went about it. He has a great way of teaching the game. He has great stories and is a real character. He is very interested in who you are and what your goals are. But the best thing about him is how he communicates and the way he can help you achieve your goals.
I enjoy playing golf and the challenge of trying to get better. I have a bad short game and have read the magazines, bought the videos, anything to help me out. The smartest thing I did was seek out David. We have a golf connection and I really believe he can help guide me in achieving my golf goals. If you are just starting out or been playing for awhile and want to learn the game and make it more enjoyable. See David and I promise you he will show how to make real improvements in your game. I know I will be.

David has been a great instructor!

Had my first lesson with David and he was great. Very friendly, gets you to think about your game, and I got a birdie on the first hole I played after my lesson! Looking forward to practicing what we worked on and coming in for more lessons!

I am just starting out with golf and still learning the basics and my boyfriend has been golfing for a couple of years. My boyfriend and I have had 3; hour lessons so far and couldn’t be happier! David takes his time not only to show you what to do but also explains why. He helped removed the hook from my boyfriend’s swing and I’m learning great fundamentals. Highly recommend David to anyone looking to improve, build upon or learn golf.

I had a two hours golf class with David on May 10, 2014. He is very knowledgeable coach and very friendly. During the class, he use V1 system to analyze my swing and correct my incorrect swing plane. He also ask me lot of questions to make sure I fully understand the concept. I really appreciate him so I can have very good fundamental of my golf swing. He is the one of the best PGA coach in Los Angeles area. I highly recommend golfer should attend his golf class.

I had my first lesson this morning with David, which he didn’t charge me for the full hour we spent. He started off asking about me. Not my golf game. Just about me as a person, which I thought was different from the other 3 instructors I’ve seen. Very personal touch I felt. Like he says golf isn’t the most important thing in our lives.
As we started the lesson I never felt like I was reading a golf digest magazine or watching golf channel. He explains, in plain and simple terms, what he teaches. He doesn’t start off telling you all these accomplishments he’s had in his career or achievements he’s received. He tells you what he’s gonna teach you. Plain and simple. He asks questions that other instructors never ask. Getting your mind thinking. Like they say, golf is 90% between the ears.
He didn’t try to change my swing, stance, grip like other instructors have tried. He just showed me how to hit the ball to the left. As I am an avid slicer, fader, blocker or whatever you want to call it. He demonstrated how you hit the ball right and how you hit it to the left. He gave me some awesome drills to achieve this! He explains by demonstration and shows you how to do the same thing. And it worked!
My first lesson with David, and more to come, was so different from the others I’ve seen and can’t wait for the next. He really gives you a since of «I can do this and this is gonna work». Without all the typical unnecessary golf instructor jargon.

Take my word, you will be truly satisfied spending even just a half hour with David. He’s worth the drive, time and money.

I bought a groupon deal for my husband since is he is into golf now and he loved his lesson. He came home raving about how david improved his golf swings and how david taught him some great golfing tips. He then recommended his golf friends to try out this golf range because its nice and how david is very knowledgable in golf. He spent 20 mins showing me how to hit straight and curve balls which I, too did learn a lesson. Thank you david for showing my husband a great time!

David is really awesome! Just took golf lesson for my video blog and it was super fun! It was my very first time and in just one hour I learned a lot. His expertise and fun personality makes it just amazing experience!

David is absolutely fantastic! I’m an ex college athlete and have golfed once a year for ten years. I can hit the ball but not straight. After an hour with David, I literally feel like I can play a round of golf with some confidence. This was my first lesson and I wish I did this a long time ago. Big recommend for David.

I’ve been very pleased with Dave as a golf coach/​teacher. He makes things easy to understand and the lessons have been effective (dropped 7 strokes so far).

It has been a while since I played golf regularly. I really needed a tune up on my swing as I was slicing the ball pretty regularly at the range. After an hour with David, he had corrected my swing and I am now better equipped to control my slice. Don’t get me wrong, the slice still shows up once in the while, but I now have a «trick» or two to help correct it when it raises its ugly head. I also have to say, that David was very patient, and explained things in a manner that I could really understand.
