Beautiful park, love to run here. Usually full of families. Only problem is if you want to run or walk, the roads are very narrow so you have to beware cars that are trying to pass.

Beautiful park and great kids playground! Great for toddlers, too! You don’t have to constantly chase them around and make sure they’re not getting hurt. Parents can relax and kids can play… exactly what you want from a park. 4 stars is because weekends are crazy!

Beautiful place. There is a good playground for baby, toddlers and older children. Also there are tennis courts and volleyball. Winter is a good hill for skiing tubing. Beautiful pond, near which is pleasant to walk. Several parking lots. Unfortunately, everywhere authorized to go by car, so we need to be careful while walking with children by walking path

I came here today with an elderly client. I am her companion and she is spritely so I wanted to bring her to a park where we could walk around and people watch. This place was absolutely perfect. We saw a couple who had just been married and having their photos taken. We walked by many parents with strollers. We walked by softball games, tennis matches, and children on swings. Like others who have reviewed the park I too was disturbed by the cars not only trying to get by us but driving way too fast for the narrow road provided. At the very least there should be clearly designated SPEEDLIMITSIGNS. But ultimately this road needs to be blocked off from cars to be used only by the walkers. There has to be a way to direct cars to the different parking lots and nature areas using the OUTSIDESTREETS instead of the inadequate narrow one. I will be back but I hope, wish, and pray for changes that will make the park safer for all walking the park.

This park is Ginormous… There are Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts, Baseball Fields, Like 4 ponds & miles & miles of trails all around it… The playground wasnt the best Ive seen but decent enough in size & activities to do… Will probably stop again when in the area.

Shrewsbury is quite fortunate to have a great community gathering center like Dean Park. The playground for children is wonderful, the sports fields are numerous and well taken care of, and you have to love that fountain show with the coordinating music on the radio in the warmer months. I have to knock off a star because of the walking path shared by(many) cars. As a mother, it’s very difficult to walk with a stroller at times because two cars are trying to drive along the path, too. One of my friends had a simple solution– make the pathways one way only. The road is too narrow for cars and pedestrians, let alone two cars going different ways. It would make the park safer and easier to navigate.

Beautiful, shady and breezy park. There is a big lake with ducks and geese(and an animal control van parked by the side of the lake, with a snoozing officer. I wonder, are geese dangerous? Or do they need protection detail?) There are two or three or four baseball fields and I intermittently see random teams playing there. The tennis courts are always empty during the day. I come and walk around with the stroller, and I gotta say, it’s possible to work up a sweat maneuvering up and down hills in this park. Bonus point for my baby fat. There is also a playground. It reminds me of something on TV. Kiddies playing in the sandbox whilst mommies gossip on the bench. I sat down to feed the baby, and got a lot of smiles and nods. Seems like it could be a mommy meet market if I wanted to be that way. Make mommy friends. I’m shy though, so I stuck to feeding the baby. Maybe next time.

Dean Park is a fun place for folks and kids of all ages. Located on Main street in shrewbury, between 140 and route 20 there are plenty of activities to partake in. There’s a corner of the pond where turtles congregate which, for me, brings back memories of the Yertle the Turtle, Dr. Seuss story. I had the whole poem memorized at one point — its a great story and one to pass on to future generations … but about the park … The turtles are all happy as turtles can be … the geese occasionally start a nest near the turtle corner that typically floods out during the high season. When will they learn … They have a great tennis wall for the solitary player, plus 4 courts for those with friends. You’ll note from my profile that I currently have no friends but mean to change all that some day … You COULD get bumped from a court by a permit weilding TENNISFREAK — so just be aware that it does happen. The local baseball teams use up all of the fields and have a great time doing it. There’s also a basketball court or three and a little tykes playground. Walkers can take the scenic route around the park several times and hardly tire of it. Lunch time’ish(read the sign, it says the hours) they have a water and music display where you turn your radio to the station and you hear the music and the fountains are in harmony with the tune. It can be romantic for a lunch date. One lewd guy was here once, near the little tykes playground, but I haven’t seen him since he ran away when I opened my car door with the intention of backing(replacing backing with your own verb for fun) him down with my cane :-) There are LOTS of parents and kids here and when the games are played they have concessions at, you guessed it, the concession stand. There are also restrooms that I wouldn’t go into alone, for no reason other than healthy caution.
