Barksdale Air Force Base Open House and Air Show

I LOVE this annual event! I go every year, except for last year, when the government shut all these shows down! Super thrilled to have it back again this year! Every year, for the most part, one the magnificent flight demonstration teams, either The Blue Angels, or The Thunderbirds pay BAFB a visit, and alternate each year. This year, it’ll be the fabulous Thunderbirds coming back! There are always other fascinating aerial performers and static displays. This year, the show is on April 26 and 27, with gates opening at 9 and the show beginning at 11. Parking is free. Plenty of concessions to choose food or drink from. Strollers are allowed as are folding chairs, without their carrying case. Wear plenty of sunscreen! One year, I got a sunburn, that left a permanent imprint of my ankle sock line, for like, a year. True story! My friends still bring it up and make fun of me for it. I do wish they’d get more musical acts out to the show, like one year they had Aaron Tippin and he was super cool! One year, they brought the Canadian flight team The Snowbirds down and they were pretty awesome too. Like I said, I go Ev-​er-​yee year! I really wouldn’t miss it! It, along with the cigar event Smoking on the Red, are my annual kickoffs to Spring! And it wouldn’t be right without them! (like last year, with no air show, thanks government!)
