Nice selection but would like to see more tree selection

I can never leave here without buying something. Landscaping? Check. Garden? Check. Composting worms? Check. Had to resist an impulse purchase on a patio set but otherwise they have everything a green thumb could ever want. Not to mention the most delicious honey bee lattes! Now it’s definitely not a discount store and can be a bit pricey but the selection is totally worth it!

Good, big place with mostly helpful people.
HOWEVER, BEWARE OF OVERCHARGES! Recently, we bought over $ 100 worth of plants and supplies. The next day we discovered that they overcharged us for 1 extra $ 4 plant. No big deal we thought. We’ll just go back and get a refund we thought. So then we go back with the recent and explain to one of the girls there and she starts acting like we’re trying to scam them out of four stinking dollars after we spent over $ 100! She asks us, accusingly, where are the plants? As if bringing back 1 less plant would prove anything. Then I get this big push back and then she asks the cashier who checked us out if she remembered the transaction (they were pretty busy the day of purchase). Now, I’ve been a cashier before and I wouldn’t have ever been able to remember if one customer out of a hundred bought 4 particular items instead of 5 out of a dozen other items from several days ago. Would anyone? Savants, i guess. Anyway, eventually, she agreed to be so generous to give me the benefit of the doubt and refund my $ 4. But then she, while holding onto my receipt, wanted to give the refund to me AFTER i bought more stuff. I almost agreed, but then my better half of my brain said no thanks I’d rather get my refund now while you can’t squirm away.
This REALLY left a bad taste in my mouth. Wow! They make a mistake and I’m the criminal? For 4 lousy dollars? O-​M-​G.
But I did reluctantly bought some more plants that we needed. THEY REALLY NEED TO TRAIN THEIR PEOPLE BETTER AND HAVE MORE CUSTOMER FRIENDLY POLICIES.
I still think the place is OK, but I’ll be double checking my receipts from now on (if I remember to, that is) or I guess I’ll have to be ok with kissing a few bucks away.

Sky is as good as it gets for any and all gardening needs! My whole family comes here, and has been coming here my whole life.
When I started dipping my toe/​green thumb into gardening, I decided a Venus Fly Trap would be a great starter plant (for obvious reasons). The staff member who helped me pick the pot, soil, and talk through care was so helpful!
We moved into a house with a huge yard about a year ago and have been revamping the garden ever since. We found a beautiful pistachio hydrangea (pink and green petals), again the team was super helpful in educating us on care and how to keep the colors of the blooms vibrant and the shade we like — soil acidity plays a huge role!
We also have pots on our deck, and like the urban-​y poured concrete style. They have been super popular this year, so when I asked if they would get more in stock the manager took my name and number down and called as soon as they arrived. Fantastic service!
We’re frequenters and always will be. Thank you Sky!

They are ripping people off on certain products. They are charging 24.99 for a 1.5 cf bag of fox forest ocean forest potting soil… Other gardening stores in freemont and ballard charge at the low of 13 to 15 dollars for the same product… Makes weonder where else they are ripping people off… Dislike

I love just wandering this store and taking in all the sights and smells. I love cacti and their selection is wide and affordable. They are so knowledgeable and helpful. This is the best spot to find rare plants and great advice

I have had a fewf bad experiences with the manager at sky nursery. He has been there for many years. I believe his name is Joe. He was very rude, arrogant and condecending to me and a friend of mine on three separate occations. I used to spend a lot of money at sky. I will take my business elsewhere in the future. He does not put the customer first.
I also had an experience where I had a question about a plant. It was a slow day, about 5 – 6 employees were standing around talking with one another. I was trying to be pacient… trying to catch a look and get someone to offer help. I finally said «Oh, excuse me but I have a question». They all looked at me like I was bothering them. There are some kind and helpful employees… others are rude and not helpful at all.

I’ve been shopping at Sky Nursery for over 20 years and I really appreciate the evolution of the business into a first-​rate garden center. I always felt that the old, one-​story main building was charming and full of interesting treasures like seasonal bulbs, but the new, larger main building has more room to move about and is well-​organized. I particularly like their selection of specialty pruning tools, and the store promotes information about better plant-​care practices by partnering with PlantAmnesty every February to sponsor a Prune-​A-​Thon with free workshops.
They also carry a nice selection of fruit trees, dwarf conifers, and roses. Prices may be higher than those in the big-​box discount store garden centers, but Sky sells clean, well-​grown stock from reputable growers in the industry. The store is a long haul from where I live in West Seattle, but I continue to shop there because of the high quality.

Hands down the best nursery in the Seattle area. Have everything you could need from outdoor gardening supplies, indoor gardening supplies, variety of cactus and succulent options, lawn décor, interior decorations, wildlife feed and housing, etc.

I had been having a difficult time finding what I needed to build raised beds and start seeds for the year– Sky Nursery has an excellent selection of plants, pots, seeds, and most importantly, information! The staff here is top notch. I was blown away by the helpful flyers around the store on various subjects and plants.
This is a great store for gardening beginners and seasoned folk alike.

This nursery is gorgeous. The outside decoration is pretty nice where you walk to the front of the store and see giant light decorations that are strung from the ceiling. When you walk into the store, people are really helpful. We were looking to purchase a maple tree and asked where it was. The front cashier person paged a guy to ask if they had any in stock. The one critique I had was that the guy that she paged just verbally described to us the general location of the maple tree. It might have been nice if he walked us over since the store is pretty gigantic and it was dark outside in the outdoor patio area. I know he is busy but for first time shoppers, it can be a bit confusing. Anyways, we found the maple trees on our own but we still had more questions. Unfortunately, the guy who is suppose to be manning the outside station was gone (apparently the same guy who had helped us before). We went inside to ask if someone could help us. They referred us to the same guy to help us.
I wish he had stuck around initially so then there would be less back and forth. Anyways, the second time he came over, he was really helpful. He shared with us a plethora of information about maple trees. In fact, he was really honest about the growth process of the tree and told us that it probably couldn’t grow in more arid environments. I really appreciated his honesty and taking the time to share his knowledge. He could have easily gave us bad information just for the purpose of selling more tree but he didn’t. This honesty/​directness is very rare when it comes to most retail stores.
The store is wonderful set up where things aren’t too costly. I thought all the items were pretty fairly priced. The best part of it all was that they offered free cookies and hot apple cider. That was a really nice touch for the customers standing outside in the cold. All in all, it was a lovely store. I’d definitely come back to buy more flowers/​trees.

I’ve been going to Sky for years for quality perennial plants, supplies and materials. I have found them to be very helpful in all regards. The selection is great, the staff is knowledgeable and their customer service has always been top notch. If I have a problem with a plant, I take a picture and go in and ask the experts for advice. They are helpful every time. My favorite is Joe, the General Manager. What a great knowledge base, customer service attitude and good sense of humor! My husband and I always find him a delight to deal with.

Yummy delicious lattes and very friendly service! Yummy pumpkin lattes for the fall season! Love looking at all the plants while I drink my latte.

Compare prices before you buy anything expensive here. I bought a small fountain at Sky and a month later saw the same fountain at another local nursery for $ 150 less. That in conjunction with some sad plant purchases and the small natives section has me going elsewhere.

A few weeks ago, while going to Costco, I passed by this nursery. The first thing that caught my eye was the large greenhouse-​look of the facility (upon walking in, you realize that it actually is a giant greenhouse). So yesterday, while looking for plants to decorate my room, I decided to pay this place a visit. After walking around for half an hour trying to determine what plants would fit the décor of my studio and also be able to grow indoors, I settled on some… yea wait for it… Carrots, Kale, and Thyme. I’m hoping to expand this in a few months granted I can keep them alive.
Total purchase for the 3 plants plus a water-​collecting tray = $ 18
Pros:
–Great selection (herbs, vegetables, perennials, vines, pitcher plants, venus flytraps, bromeliads, etc.). They literally have everything you can think of off the top of your head.
–Friendly and helpful staff
–Reasonable prices
–Don’t quite me on this, but I was overhearing a conversation and apparently you can return a plant if it’s basically in the same condition that it left the store?
Cons:
–Nothing really… maybe not that big of a selection of indoor grow lights or perhaps slightly better prices elsewhere?
Overall, I was pretty satisfied and would return again.

Very helpful staff. I love the selection. I was looking for some transplant pots and they just gave them to me. Made me want to spend money!

I think this is the best nursery I have ever visited. Their selection and facility is vast and efficient. Seems to me that the staff is pretty friendly and knowledgable too.
Comparing it to Swanson’s, which is also first rate, I’d say that I like Sky slightly better because of its layout and size.

Whether you are novice or have a bright green thumb, you will find almost anything you need to start or care for your garden or lawn. They offer a variety of flowers, vegetables, trees and shrubs. They also have a good selection of fertilizers, garden tools, pots and garden décor.
I’ve been here multiple times. Service is hit or miss (or I’d give the place 5 stars). When they are busy, forget about trying to ask anyone a question. You’d be lucky if you actually found someone. If you go at an off-​time and catch one of the sales people, they are super helpful. One lady help me create an stunning container garden for my balcony — a lime cyprus surrounded by giant wave petunia’s and coleus. They even provided fertilizer recommendations for my citrus tree along with some tips for care.
It can get a little costly if you go nuts like I do, but It’s well worth it!

You gotta pay for quality, and here, well, you do…
Happy to come here for specialty items, we usually hit this place up during the holidays, their Christmas event and décor selections are great and its a Winter wonderland in there!
Recently went for a Fall harvest festival, for the youngest kiddo, it was fun for her and there was plenty of parking and a lot of stuff for the rest of us to look at.
Staff seems to enjoy their job and you can tell as they are very friendly and helpful. I’ve used them for bulk soil and sand purchases the guys who load you up are skilled and are very good with their aim on your truck bed! Less stuff I have to wash off afterward!
Only minus are the prices, but for the selection and quality, it’s worth the extra. I just luv their recent upgrade to their showroom and green house area, you must visit when you are in the Shoreline area.
