Strathmore Bagels

Best bagels around, hands down. Always fresh and tasty. Great house made specialty cream cheeses and the workers are always on top of everything.

Since my last review, I have increased my frequency at Strathmore and I am happy every time w the service as well as the quality of the food. Definitely a keeper.

so this is the second time ive gone recently and again my order was messed up. i ordered two egg sandwitches with 3 eggs each. no biggie they forgot an egg on one. so i say to the lady ringing me up «oh no theres two? i ordered three. «immedietly the girl jumps in the defensive with her body language and atittude telling me at least three times i said two eggs and she read it back on the phone. which she did read it back but she read it back 60mph. but anyway, after a few times back and forth shes like listen we can put the third egg on for you and i was like… okay? (why wouldnt you just say that instead of going back and forth with the customer, after all i am paying youre not doing me any favors.) then i find out they dont take debit. im not walking out and leaving you with my food and coming back to give you my money for ruining my order, ruining the reputation of the place and likely spitting in my food. never again. short wench with short brown hair about up to her chin which is curled under. no good server.

OK but I definitely had better. Very limited amount of bagels at 11 AM. Cream cheese was tasteless and so was the lox. I also asked for a light amount of cream cheese and was given about a pound!

One of THE best bagel sandwiches i’ve ever had.
So I walk in and see cream cheeses I’ve never even HEARD of, they have the basics like vegtable, regular, scallion, and then they bust out some walnut and rasin, or olive cream cheese. I dont like anything other than regular cream cheese, but I also like to gawk at things through the glass while i’m waiting for my eggs to fry, but I digress…
The people there are just nice, good people. I’m not sure about the other guy’s review, but I was more than happy when I came here. Bacon egg and cheese on an egg everything check, thats what was placed in my small brown paper bag that I rushed home with. ALSO, they have every friggin bagel flavor under the sun. Props.
I dock a star because they are cash only, which can be annoying, and because sometimes the line sucks on sunday mornings when I roll out of bed at 12 like everyone else and demand a bacon egg and cheese.
Other than that, I love it here!

Just bought a house nearby and my girlfriend and I were looking for a solid breakfast /​lunch joint nearby. We stopped into Strathmore Bagels thinking… «this looks good! so close too!»
We ordered two simple breakfast sandwiches… ham egg and cheese on toasted bagels. The order took literally 15 minutes to make. We got home and there was no cheese. Not surprising because the loser behind the counter kept yessing me to death as I was ordering… I never got to get the order out because he apparently read my mind… apparently he didn’t do a good job because he screwed up the order. Me: Did you get that? Him: «Yep…» (walking away)
We decided to give it another shot. This time the order was completely wrong… what a surprise. I was cut off from ordering because he knew what I was going to say… right?
I swore up and down I wouldn’t go back… but I did. The only bagel shop in town.
Repeated visits after this revealed the same result. Lazy, incompetant staff, iffy bagels, consistently incorrect orders (where’s my cheese, my bagel wasn’t toasted, asked for scrambled and got over easy, asked for ham and got nothing) and an overall hassel. The only reason I gave this place a star at all is because the food is edible.
HUGE thumbs down. Will never go back.
And who closes at 3pm on a weekday?

Strathmore Bagels in Shirley is a very solid bagel shop. It’s a blue collar joint no café or pretentious atmosphere here. You’ll find the shop nestled in the North West section of this Shopping Center. They are cash only and do not have an ATM in the shop either.
All the bagels are excellent quality. Standard varieties of bagels– Everything, Plain, Garlic, Onion, Etc. They do carry some low fat items, pastries, and flavored Cream Cheese. The coffee is okay.
When you get there on the weekend their probably will be a line. Parking isn’t bad but it’s not great. Definitely a top choice for quality bagels and worth checking out if you are in the area.
