History

Established in 2014.

Kathy and Nora are the co-​owners of Urban Yogurt Inc. Both ladies have lived in Shingle Springs for over 25 years, raised their families in the community, and are also proud grandmothers.

With their adult children grown, the «empty nesters» found themselves with the time and freedom to embark on something they have always wanted to pursue: open a small local frozen yogurt shop providing customers with highest quality of self-​serve frozen yogurt available, offering an abundant selection of fresh toppings and serving it up in an exceptionally clean and friendly store.

And so, Urban Yogurt Inc. was born March 8, 2014. We hope you love it as much as we do!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. When our usual spot closed down I was completely bummed. Thank goodness this place opened right after. The Original Tart is my absolute favorite. But that doesn’t stop me from trying new flavors. I also love the fact that they label the ones that are gluten free. Makes my life that much easier.

This is a fantastic frozen yogurt place. They have a variety of flavors which rotate. I love being able to try new kinds that I may not have tried otherwise. They are generous with their sample sizes. The original tart is a tasty base that you can’t go wrong with. They also have many toppings to choose from — fruit, candies, cookie dough, syrups. The employees that work there are always extremely friendly. I also love that they have a reward program so we get a discount every so often.
My only other comment is the seating. During the warmer months, it is great to sit outside. The shop itself is small, so there isn’t a lot of inside seating. The stools they have on aren’t the most comfortable and it’s a bit cramped sitting with 4 at the small tables with 4 stools. That being said, it doesn’t stop us from going back. The staff, level of service, and delicious yogurt keep us coming :)

This place was good, and the owner was a very friendly person. While I was sitting there enjoying my banana/​peanut butter mixed fro-​yo, she came over and asked if she could give my dog (a yellow lab who was obediently sitting at my feet) a treat. I said of course, happy to meet another dog lover, and then she came back with some of the plain flavored ice cream. She explained that the fro-​yo was fine for dogs, and that they love it. A little hesitant I said okay, and she gave my doggy her treat. She was right, my dog absolutely loved it. I’ve never seen her go to town like that. And to the owners credit, my dog was just fine afterwards, with no upset stomach or sickness of any kind.
Anyway, back to my fro-​yo, I really enjoyed the different flavors. I’ve seen peanut butter before (kinda rare), but never banana, and together it was amazing. Really liked this place.

There are several good frozen yogurt shops in El Dorado County but this is our favorite. Clean, friendly, and LOTS of wonderful flavors and toppings every time, plus a «frequent flier» program. Very professionally run. Prices are reasonable, too. We stop by for dessert and usually get out with reasonably full cups for $ 10 for two, less than we’d pay for dessert in a restaurant.

Being that my own business is across the street from this place I go here a lot! But that isn’t the only reason I go, they have some amazing yogurt! And toppings! The two ladies who started it hire the nicest girls to work there and you can’t go wrong stopping by to check it out!

I’m up from LA visiting a friend in Jackson. I decided to surprise her with some fro-​yo and made the trek over. I was immediately greeted outside by a woman (who I later found out was the owner). The interior was clean and well lit with a wide assortment of toppings. She got 3 samples for me, mentioned I could have as many as id like… But I’m a plain tart girl and their’s is one of the BEST I’ve ever had! Somehow I made it all the way back to Jackson without devouring it and I’m happily enjoying it with my oh-​so-​grateful friend. This place is a welcome respite out here. While I live in LA, I think you now have a loyal customer in my friend. Thank you for the excellent customer service and fro-​yo

Hi. I’m new to Cameron Park and went in here tonight with my husband. This place had many different types of really great yogurt including watermelon and rootbeer. I added the hot caramel and hot marshmallow sauce — fantastic. I give it 5 stars and it’s well deserved. Our new favorite place. Thank you Kathy and Nora for giving us a great yogurt place to visit.

This place is great! Super clean, tons of toppings and the yogurt is top notch! I see that some people have complained that the owners prefer parents help their children and not let them stick their gross fingers in the toppings, but I happen to appreciate the cleanliness and don’t respect bad parenting. Keep it up ladies! I will be in for my weekly dose of ½ tart and ½ fruit fro-​yo!

Some naysayer said $ 19 for two yogurts… Idk how full his cups were, but my gf and I usually average $ 6 per cup of average size.
They are pretty standard as far as price goes.
As far as management goes, they (and their staff) are very adamant on serving customers well with samples and anything they need.
Always clean.

I like this place, went in there after reading about them in the local newspaper. Owners Kathy, and Nora are super cool and friendly.
A+ Customer service, plenty of flavors, which were ok, after all it’s just a yogurt shop. The day i went there it seemed pretty busy with families and place was very clean.
will definitely go back in there when i’m in shingle springs area.

We stumbled into this heavenly treat of a yogurt shop en route to our family ski vacation in Lake Tahoe. We are frozen yogurt junkies and we are literately surrounded by fro yo shops where we live in Las Vegas.
The yogurt at this place is by far and away the very best frozen yogurt we’ve ever had. The flavors are deeply satisfying and the staff is very pleasant.

What a great addition to this little strip mall! The staff were very friendly and helpful, offering us samples of any flavor we were curious about. The shop is clean and well stocked — they have about six different yogurt flavors and a variety of toppings and sauces.
Their topping selection was more sweets focused, rather than fruit and nut like some places, but they did have strawberries and walnuts/​almonds.
I’m not sure how much per ounce they charge, but it seems comparable with other places as our two decent sized yogurts set me back about $ 11.

This place hits home with their quality and service, making me stop by to the nearby frozen yogurt with this place in the back of my mind.
A great place to stop to fuel on gas and energy before or after your Tahoe trip!

They opened two weeks ago so the place is still super clean and tidy.
The service was nice and she offered free tastings.
The array of toppings is AMAZING! It’s comparBle to Yogurtland and PinkBerry but it’s local! The fruits were fresh, everything was filled to the top, plenty of nuts, candies, sauces, and fun toppings.
The locations is right off the highway so it’s easy to get to them.
On my cheat days I’m coming here :)

So I cheated and came back the next day with the Twin. The cake batter is yummy. I usually only go for the refreshing tart flavored yogurts but I’ve been on a Paleo kick for a month now and was craving something sweet. The cake batter one hit the spot. As for the toppings, what goes well with cake? Other cakes! Diced cheesecake and brownies went well with my froyo. Such yum! Here’s another star. Don’t take away my cake batter! I’ll be back in two weeks when I cheat again!
