Woodcrest Preschool

Both of my kids currently attend the school and we couldn’t be happier. The kids report app is so great. The teachers update the activities throughout the day and you can see exactly what your child did. The office and teachers are very accessible if you have any questions. My kids are definitely growing and learning thanks to Woodcrest.

Very confused by all the low reviews. My daughter has been going here for 2 years now and we are very happy with the program and her progress. The hours of the school are amazing and the teachers really do care about the students. They have yoga and animal encounters every other Tuesday. They use an app called KidReports that gives you a photo of your child during the day as well as updates as to what they did. My daughter loves the annual fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch. Today they are having a Lunar New Year parade and lunch. Lots of fun activities, they trick ‘r treat at the houses near by, go on «nature walks» along the streets around the school, and the summers have weekly themes. Is the school perfect, no, parking is horrible and they sometimes have turnover, but all schools have their issues. I love the teachers she currently has and believe they are doing their best to help her succeed.

My son has been attending this school for over 1 ½ years. The attention from the teachers is excellent and the staff show that they really care. I’m so thrilled with the education my child is receiving and I absolutely love the ethnic and cultural diversity within the class. Really an absolutely great school for a child to grow in.

If you love your kids, Stay away from this school. All the owners care about is money. The teachers do not have the amount of hours and the certifications that are needed for school. I asked the owners to show me proof of stated credits and hours for each teacher. They refused… I later found out that 90% of the «teachers» don’t have the necessary credentials.
This place is run like a puppy mill and should be shut down. Please do your own due diligence and ask the right questions before you put your kid in harms way. Please check out the BBB as well. Woodcrest has also been in violation from the health department several times for toilets over flowing and releasing fecal matter into the kids classrooms. (Not making the necessary repairs in a timely manner).
Probably the worst place in the valley to bring your kids. No make that for SURE.
They pay the staff minimum wage and ALWAYS HAVE TURNOVER IN THE STAFF WHICH CREATES PROBLEMS FOR YOUR KID WHO BONDS WOTH HIS TEACHER.
They also moved my son out of his room for no reason, We were told he was «mature» for his class. Later the teacher told us they had to make room for more children. This is a common practice to move kids mid semester to make more money… l

My child attended this school. He was quickly moved from room one which is fabulous to room 2 which is horrible. They told me he was advanced and mature so they moved him fast, Which I found out they moved him really because they needed room to pack in more kids. They lie and do whatever it takes to make money. Then he slowly became behind in this class it was like a zoo. Too many kids and not enough teachers which if you visit they quickly get someone else to cover up that they are trying to save money and not keep enough teachers on staff. (As they gossip about everyone in the meantime). SO in room 2 he was neglected and ignored. When some of the others moved on to room 3 they said oh well he has fallen behind so he is not going to room 3 with his friends. (of course they didn’t potty train him). I got very upset and said yes he is. SO they put him in room 3 and the teachers treated him poorly because they had to put some work into it. I guess a assembly line doesn’t work for my kid. Asking for a nurturing loving teacher is too much. I asked the teacher to spend a little time helping him with handwriting and she got mad and aggressive with me. The director is all about herself and her social life and could care less. The teachers would tell me literally we have to many kids and we just don’t have enough time to focus to much on one at a time (talk to the owner) which I did and that just doesn’t do any good she is old and out of it. The bottom line is my child went in very advanced and came out very behind. I had to find another school with small class rooms and nurturing, caring teachers. He is now very advanced already reading and doing math. (yes he is back to normal and on track) But in this school he did not thrive and stay on the advanced level that he is. I did see some kids that were doing well (teacher pets) but mine did not. I spoke up so I was on the shit list and so was my child. If you want a overcrowed over stimulated school with assembly line teaching this is it. And they pour on the activites as a show to cover it up. My child was overstimulated (which he does not need) and not given direction and focus. He craved attention cause there is just not enough staff to cover all the kids needs. His needs were not met at all. Then they had these big events and act so friendly and wonderful. ALL BS! Good luck to anyone who does not have the intuition and education to see this. These are not nice people and they certainly are not nurturing people.

My son has been attending Woodcrest for 6 months now. WE COULDN’T BE HAPPIER!!! The teachers are very nice and attentive, my son loves Ms Marie and Ms Iris (so do I). Ms Cilene is great with the kids and always eager to help. I feel really lucky to have my son there!!!

My son love it here! And so do I! Good hours for busy parents! Nice teachers and in a good area

My review is 3.5 out of 5. This is a good school but with room for improvement.
Okay so we had very little time to find a school and a very tight budget due to some family illnesses, as a result we also were not mentally able to take an exhausting search of every school in the neighborhood. We called several places that were out of our budget and finding Woodcrest was a life saver. However my reviews are mixed.
The administration is lacking, Ms. Lori is really nice but I get the feeling very busy. Ms. Cilene the director is all lip service and no substance. In other words she will tell you what you want to hear but not nec back it up. They are non-​responsive to emails and I mean 3 emails for 2 weeks and nothing back. Not a peep. Emails they send out have typos, wrong dates etc. Attention to detail and customer service is lacking — we are paying for a professional service. Additionally their fundraisers are numerous and they pick and choose how well informed they want to be. Sometimes it’s a note in the cubby sometimes it’s an email sometimes both. Inconsistent administratively speaking. My opinion is not based on 1 occasion but years’ worth, literally if you want a response you better go in person and good luck doing that without taking time off work.
One thing they have added is an electronic kid’s report which is great because you get to see daily about their naps, snacks etc.
Nutrition — their snacks in my opinion fall way short of being nutritious and balanced. Too many sugary or salty crackers not enough plant based snacks. Water is in every classroom and given at snack times.
My child who is difficult to nap at home napped everyday here no problem.
Some of the teachers are better than others but they all seem to care for the children which to me are of course the most important. I will say this I think they are understaffed and the student to teacher ration could be better but it is sufficient.
They are affordable and offer various options and they have a nice playground. What I love about the school is that they celebrate all holidays whether its Chinese New Year or Chanukah it’s nice to have our children get taught a little cultural diversity. I also love the hours 6:30 — 6:30 is a rare find.
Education — my child def was learning and it was obviously improving, we are very happy with his growth. I appreciate the weekly homework’s to make sure parents are included also.
Overall I am happy, I think they do a job that is sufficient — he is safe, well cared for, happy and doing well. BUT I think that the school has LOTS of room for improvement.
Reading other reviews my kid does come home dirty sometimes with snot on his face and you know what he’s a child it happens I get it, I do get annoyed that he has so much paint on his clothe so often — aprons hello? However again he’s a child *shrugs*. I get it. What I think is they need to step up the game massively with nutrition and the office administration need to get their stuff together.
I will say this I love Miss Diana, Miss Irene and Miss Iris — wonderful caring teachers.
They have made several improvements to the facility while my child attended however I do think a deeper cleaning is required more often just because let’s face it they are busy, germy little monkeys! With response to the other parents comments about kids getting sick the first year my child was sick multiple times but even my doctor said this to be expected at that age as he builds his immune system and we made sure we added vitamins and pro biotics to his diet to help, year 2 way better.
So do I recommend it — yes. Do I think it’s the best option — that depends. They are doing well enough but if you have the budget to I would consider other options as well to see what works best for your child. Overall this is a safe and good environment for the child.

Wow, I feel so bad that the only reviews this school got were 2 one star reviews. My child went here for about a year and it was GREAT! I don’t know why there aren’t any reviews other than the 2 bad ones. The teachers (Ms. Claudia and Ms. Lydia) were very attentive to my child… making sure he ate his lunch and when he didn’t like something that we had packed for him, they would let us know. My child looked forward to going to school each morning and came home reciting songs that he had learned from school for my wife and I. He was very happy there. We had to move to orange county so that’s why I’m on Unilocal looking for a new school for my child and I came across these bad reviews. Not to take anything away from the other reviews but I just wanted to share my family’s experience with the school as well.
Quick Note: I just realized that this school does have good reviews but they’re all in the «not recommended» portion per Unilocal.WOW! did this happen because they didn’t buy Unilocal Ads or something? How can only the 1 star reviews be shown and all the other good reviews be hidden?

I feel awful having to write such a bad review but I am very glad that my daughter no longer attends this school. It is horrible that an NAYEC accredited school is run so poorly.
My daughter was sick the first two weeks attending this school. The director said that it was because of being exposed to so many children at once. This was not the case. I later understood that it was because of the filthy classrooms and poor hygiene. I regularly picked up my daughter and noticed her diaper was very full and her face extremely dirty. She developed a lot of rashes because of this. They seem to have sufficient teacher to student ratio in the morning but not in the afternoon. The ratio in the afternoons were 12 – 14 children to one teacher. I continued to overlook signs because I felt that the education was strong.
Late march we received the summer camp program for the school. In the email it stated that if a child was not enrolled in summer camp, they were not guaranteed a spot for the fall. Prior to the enrollment deadline, I attempted to reach out to the director several times. She was normally out of the office by 3:45/4. I spoke with her assistant, Lori on ³⁄₂₈ and was told several times that that was a sales tactics by the school and not to worry. She repeated herself several times and said that «between us» the spots never fill up for summer so not to worry about fall. She told me to call the director mid July for registration for the fall. I believed her and decided not to send my daughter to summer camp because we would be out of the country for the portion of the time. Two weeks later, the director told me that ALL spots were filled up and bc I opted out of summer camp, she will fill outside candidates.
Honestly, this was the best thing to happen. The director’s sales tactics were very embarrassing and tactless. I do not understand what type of accredited establishment is able to do this. Filthy school with very poor management. Good luck to future parents.

I hate writing nags but I just had to for this stupid school! And I deeply value the importance of early childhood education because my daughter is my soul. So I had to write this review…
What a nightmare of a preschool this was… Luckily this was only a back-​up until the real preschool we were waiting for finally had us off wait list and registered us. I don’t even know where to begin with this horrible place and it pisses me off that I even had my daughter at this miserable facility…
First, lets start off with the beginning process of the tour and registration… I gotta say the director rubbed me the wrong way. She just seemed annoyed and impatient with my questions. I also caught her on a personal cell phone call when I went into the preschool one day… The tour felt like a car sale. I asked, «What are the demographics of this school?» and they said «We have every race»… ummm… no you do not have every «race». I just wish they were honest «its predominantly caucasian» or «we have a disproportionate amount of girls versus boys and they tend to be [fill in ethnicity here]» is it that hard? I’m sorry but you’re just not going to have every single ethnic group represented in the school in equal numbers… It just sounded like a careless and stupid generic line they say to every person who tours the preschool just so they can get the $ 500– $ 800 a month each pop of a kid.
It’s my fault though. I should have seen the red flag which was the student-​teacher ratio… And the strange odor issuing from every single classroom when taking the tour… Regardless, I remained (irresponsibly) optimistic and had high hopes that I would be proven wrong…
NOPE!
I noticed my daughter’s face was always dirty, she was incredibly sleepy and totally famished when she would get home. We packed her lunches which was smart because it allowed us to see how much she ate (or didn’t eat, rather) for the time she was there. They neglected to give her naps and regulate proper hygiene… She would come home irritable and sleepy-​eyed. I dismissed it and thought she had too much fun. How naïve… Her face always had boogers on them. She knows to use Kleenex and how to wipe her nose without smearing. We taught her this. This preschool reversed a lot of what we taught her because she also exhibited regressive behaviors… Like not washing her hands when she knew they weren’t clean…
And for the review that said it was a clean facility… It’s disgusting!!! The welcome rug is nasty in room 2 because I saw the same bits of trash every single day, the floors are filthy, and it looked like dust accumulated along with some cobwebs in the corner. Even the director’s office was so disorganized… Stacks of papers everywhere, and flying post-​its… I doubt they practice daily sterilization of all their toys, and tables… God knows when the last time that area carpet had been washed…
So pissed. I just had my doubts from the beginning but I thought, maybe I’m wrong. But I wasn’t because my mother-​in-​law also agreed that it was filthy and smelled foul. One day she had to pick her up and my daughter was in the room with the A/​C on and they didnt bother to give her her sweater. She also told me of an incident where a little girl was crying because another student wouldn’t share. The teachers did absolutely nothing about it and my mother-​in-​law and I agreed that my daughter needed to be removed as soon as possible…
