Tony’s Liquor Store

I went in after seeing the sign on Ventura above the entrance that states the Veuve Cliquot (champagne) $ 39.99. The person behind the counter when I asked for it said no not anymore it’s $ 45 I said but your sign has been up for months, if not longer, with that price 39.99 and he said well it doesn’t matter. The price is the price we don’t sell it for 3999 and when I asked him did me think it was wrong to bait and switch he said no I said aren’t you embarrassed you’re lying with your sign he said we need a very long ladder to change it we just haven’t changed it. I am serving in Afghanistan here visiting for a week when I was here on my last leave it was two months ago and that sign said the same. No apologies; they should be embarrassed and change the sign or sell at 39.99! I’d leave zero star if I could. My pic attached proof false advertising

If you value your health, do not go here. I bought a box of Saltines and after getting home I took a bite of one of the crackers. A sour, plastic taste resulted. Turn out the expiration was October of 2013 and it is now February of 2015. Unbelievable! I can’t imagine what is in the deli case.

Where do I start with this place? Been a customer since… let’s see… I’m 44 years old now… since I was 15−−1985. Lot’s of great memories with this place. before I was of drinking age, Tony’s was the place that popped my «Truly Awesome Char Burgers» cherry. I would go there and they would make me what i believed to be at the time the most MASTERFUL, tasty cheesboigas I ever tasted. In high school, it was one of the places that my neighborhood friends used to rally around before an evening out partying or whatever. NO they responsibly DID NOT sell us alcohol, but still it was a great place to start one’s evening, the owner having children of my own age and friends and such. Time passed. Through the years, Tony’s has emerged as a solid, go-​to place for me to get all my alcoholic enjoyments. And while they no longer have the grill, I still love the place for the memories, fairly priced drinks, and… quite a few famous people! Yes, the place seems to be a magnet for famous people. I’ve seen rock and rollers and actors galore pop in and out of there through the years – and this just while I was there! God knows how far and wide this place is reknowned among the stars. Anyway, in this tough economy, everyone is tightening their belts, and sadly I’ve seen too many San Fernando Valley landmarks take the final hit. Tony’s liquor is no different – it is both a FANTASTIC ICONIC landmark in Sherman Oaks, and as such, I offer an appeal to anyone of true taste and style to remember Tony’s along your travels on Ventura Blvd for all your beer, wine and liquor imbibement. Let’s all help keep Tony’s Liquor around for another 50 years at least! TONY’s LIQOUR ROCKS! Thank you Mr. T!!!

This was my first time in this store, and I will never go back.
This store has a great selection but I would not go there again as the owner is plain rude. I was astounded by his rudeness. If he wants to gain customers he must be more pleasant.

Great selection of wines for a corner liquor store! Got a very good bottle of Sangiovese for a very reasonable price. The staff is friendly and professional. Will be visiting again soon.

I super super super love this liquor store! Very friendly workers. Very organized store and they always give me a straw for my canned sodas.

The best tip I can give for this place is dont go! The owner was extremely rude.

ok, im trying to post the pic of the gnarliest, most un-​edible food i have ever eaten in my whole friggin’ life!!!
a co-​worker got the chili cheese burger & it smelled so good, i had to get one as well. when i get this monstrosity of what these fools calls a «chili cheese burger» is straight up hella disgusting!!!
1^st of all, what would you think a chili cheese burger would look like??? maybe something from Tommy’s??? Der Wienerschnitzel maybe??? Carney’s??? Pinks??? Grays Papaya Dogs??? how about maybe even some Hormel Chili from a can right??? «HELL 2 THE NO» i got what looked like burnt ground beef on a bacon cheese burger & if it wasnt for the 4 pieces of bacon, i woulda starved yesterday!!!
so, can you picture this food??? nothing resembling chili… no brown, stuff coming outta the sides of the burger, nope… just, & i cannot describe it other than BURNT GROUND BEEF!!!
i have given quite a few food reviews here & of all the places so far, this has got the be the grossest place ever!!!
it says ‘LIQUOR STORE’ right??? just sell booze & cigs Tony… i can defecate better & more tasty chili cheese burgers than what you sent to a hungry customer yesterday!!!
now, why give them 1 star??? becuz, at least the guy was gonna remake me another burger & the bacon saved my life!!!

this was the worse type of food i have ever eaten!!! i mean, andrew zimmerman from the travel channel eats some gnarly foods from around the country, but i dont think even he woulda been able to chow down on this crap!!!
im not saying all the food at this LIQUOR STORE sux, but the bacon chili cheese burger i had yesterday was 150% un-​edible!!! homeless people woulda threw that away!!!

I guess you don’t think of a liquor store as the type of business that gets squeezed by box stores and mega-​marts, but Tony’s Liquor manages to hold its own largely because of the owners. They’re smart businessmen who know their clientele and their products. I’m sure the two local BevMo’s have cut into their profits, but their prices seem fair to me. I’d much rather give them my money.
Quite simply, Tony’s Liquor is the only reason I drink.

I used to live next door when I was very young and I was in Tony’s almost every day. Today my brother and I were feeling nostalgic, so we stopped in for lunch. Jimmy, the owner’s son, remembered us from when we were little kids. It has barely changed since the early 90’s, still a friendly, small town atmosphere.
Lunch was great! I got a veggie burger and my brother got a hot dog, both with the works. My burger came with avocado on it. Delicious! They were both 4.99, a pretty reasonable price.
As for the liquor store, they have a wide selection. I didn’t buy anything but they have a bunch of foreign chocolate bars as well, which I think is pretty cool.
Overall, the food was great and the atmosphere is as friendly as it gets. I recommend it!

Tony’s Liquor and Deli is one of my favorites. Gotta love a family business.
I stop in all the time for lunch. I love the tacos… okay and the burgers too! It’s the only place I go for a bottle of Layer Cake wine. I prefer the Shiraz. I love their facebook page too! They are always offering great deals.
. If you haven’t been by, I highly recommend giving it a try!

I’m not sure how I never stumbled on this place when my ex’s place was literally a block away. After the Ludobites event, we needed some beverages before hitting the road. Got a crazy Angels All Star Pepsi and a Rob’s Iced Tea. Very friendly guy working the counter and they have a large selection of all types of stuff. Not nearly as dive ridden as I would have thought and turns out it would be a great neighborhood store if I lived here.

this is the best liquor store ever (capn cork in los feliz comes in close 2^nd). ORDER LUNCH HERE! and the guy who works the cash register is a serious trip. don’t get coffee here, just a recommendation. but the 3.99 turkey cheeseburger w/​fries is a good deal.

Everything about this place is just what you want in a Liquor store. been there forever and it has history. the food is amazing and the wine selection is great!
Oh, and Jimmy who I thinks runs the place is a Stone Fox!

Hot food, cold beer, great wine prices, what else do you need? Tony’s has it all. There’s even a newsstand outside with every magazine imaginable!

Was heading into the salon and needed to grab a bite for lunch but had to find something quick before my appointment. One of the girls suggested Tony’s on the corner because they have a small grill in the back and wouldn’t take 30 minutes to cook up something good.
Much to my pleasant surprise the Turkey burger was moist and juicy and incredibly delicious! Not a fancy place, and certainly not somewhere that you would take a date, but if you want something to go you can’t go wrong. Turkey Burger and fries ($ 6.99) with almost anything you can think of to drink (yep that’s right it’s a liquor store). Great little corner spot, easy to find parking.
I KNOW I KNOW it says liquor store but seriously… The GRILL IS AMAZING!
