They took care-​of me BIG time. I came in last minute for an awards show and they went over and beyond to get me squared away. Robert was jumped right in and got the entire staff to taylor and get me in and out. And on top of all that the suit shoes tie and vest i got was amazing. THANK you guys!

I read reviews on Unilocal and decided to give them a try for a tuxedo rental and alterations. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Joe and Robert! They are so friendly, helpful and everything was just perfect. They were also so fast and worked with me as I had a time constraint. I am so happy that I took a chance with them and will not go anywhere else.

I needed a tuxedo on short notice and chose this shop purely based on proximity, since it was on my way home from work. Robert cheerfully went to great lengths to make sure my suit looked great and felt comfortable to wear, including exchanging the coat and shirt for another size as well as making alterations.
I’ll be back next time I’m in need of menswear or tailoring, I have every confidence in this shop and it’s staff.

Good customer service in general, but disappointed in an alteration job that took longer than scheduled due to their suddenly absorbing a lot of jobs (I’d still expect that the order queue be honored).
Avoid the well-​dressed gentleman if you can, as he is quite the aggressive salesman.

I had two easy alterations, the service here was wonderful and they were completed fast. I completely forgot about my items and walked in so embarrassed a couple months later, my items were still there and they were as sweet as could be. I will definitely be returning and remembering to pick up my items when they are ready. I highly recommend giving them a try, you won’t regret it!

I will always use this place for my alterations. They are pros. Not much fuss or muss. I brought in a complicated bridesmaids dress and they helped it out tremendously. They did charge me something more than I budgeted and I did something I never do and asked if they could discount. They were willing to help. I appreciate that. That (and great work done right the firs time) earned my repeat business.

We have used these tailors for 15+ years and they are amazing. They can handle anything, even very difficult jobs, and they have never made a mistake. Everyone is friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and they will even do their best to finish garments on short notice, if needed for a special event. Highly recommended!

It’s hard to explain in a review how great these guys were, they were truly some of the most accommodating people when it came to any requests I had (I’m really picky about things fitting right) when I rented my tuxedo.
I was amazed at the quality and fit of the tuxedo and just had a hard time believing they charge less than Men’s Wearhouse does for their rentals. I don’t think I’ll go anywhere else for my future rental or alteration needs. Need a tux or a suit for an event? Go here.

I’ve been using these tailors for over 10 years and highly recommend them. Joe and his team have altered countless items for me, my husband and my daughter. This includes alterations on pants, shirts, suit jackets and formal dresses. They have also repaired jeans for my daughter. They even made the bassinet cover and bumper for my first grandchild. I have always found their work to be top quality and reasonably priced.

I have been using this place for at least 6 years now, through multiple owners. My first visit was at the recommendation of a friend when I needed a very delicate bride’s maid’s dress altered. Having done a bit of sewing myself, I thought it would be impossible to alter it in the ways that I needed without it being obvious. When I got the dress back, the alterations were so flawless, that I thought it hadn’t even been touched. It wasn’t until I tried it on and saw it fit perfectly.
I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. I have more of an hourglass shape and so need most of my suits and dresses for work altered. I find them to be very reasonably priced ($ 5 – 10 for a hem and $ 25 to rip out seems and take my suit jackets in). I like to shop at discount stores (i.e. TJ Maxx, Ross, & Nordstrom Rack) and my clothes always look much more professional and expensive once tailored to my body. This is the only way I can afford for my wardrobe to compete with my colleagues.
As for personality, the people who run and work in this place are pretty quiet and don’t say much, so I can see how some might misunderstand their demeanor. They will have an opinion of they think you want to do something that won’t work or look right, but they will still do it if you insist.
I have so much faith in them that I almost always pay upfront. I haven’t had any issues with them doing work that wasn’t exactly what I asked for, so I cannot speak to how they might handle conflict. I am hard pressed though to believe some of the more negative reviews without considering a posters possible contribution to the situation.

DO NOT TRUST PREVIOUS REVIEWS!!! THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST. If you read my other reviews you will quickly understand that I am no easy customer and when it comes to tailoring, alterations and dress makers, I am have high standards to meet. And well what can I say, I was skeptical– based on the Unilocal reviews– about tailors of Sherman oaks– and my I was overly pleasantly surprised! It almost felt like a joke that I was being as accommodated too as I was being. This kind of customer serive rarely happens in LA. The cost to alter a leather dress and to make a leather skirt from some left over leather fabric I had was unbelievable, they completed everything for me within 5 days — unheard of in Los Angeles, nothing was a problem. So I thought, well maybe their work is not that great? Well again, I was bowled over by their precision and detail. I even went into their workshop to meet the lovely professional Russian seamstresses who I knew, knew their trade and clientele to the level of the best. I felt so strongly about how wrong, misleading and board a line offensive the Unilocal reviews for this place are, that when I took another look realized that the last Unilocal for this store was years ago. So when I asked the owners about it they explained that the store was under different management and that Unilocal had not changed the reviews even though they had been contacted to inform them. Well I tell you, with all the things I get altered, tailored and made, these guys are hands down the best in Los Angeles. And let me tell you, I have been to too many alterations places. Service, price, lead time and craftsmanship is on the level of the best. From here on I will ONLY come to Tailors of Sherman Oaks, only have friends come to Tailors of Sherman Oaks, and if you want the best you should too. So thank you tailors of Sherman oaks for being an example to other tailors, making great clothes for me, not breaking my bank and having it ready for me to wear for the weekend ;) voted best by me

Still going to the same place and yet to have any problems. I recently started taking some of my old designer jeans to fix the tears on the bottom and I’m glad I did. Got my old jeans back and saved some dough… Thanks!

I have been going to Tailors of Sherman Oaks for the past year or so. My prior tailor passed away and I was recommended here by a friend. The best tailoring I have had so far in my life. Joe is very personable, Olga is great to work with. Both are extremely knowledgeable in the art of tailoring. This comes in handy for me since I am always adjusting, readjusting, remaking clothing.

The owner of this business is a thief! Their alterations always come out uneven, and they charge more than what they say they would when you check out!
The dress I took in was too big after they altered it, so the seamstress said they would go back and FIX it! When I picked it up, the owner charged me 20 bucks extra for THEIR mistake! I refused to pay the extra money, and she threatened to rip out the alterations of the dress I had altered! Who does that?!
Find another tailor — one with some class.
