Unfortunately, Sushi Delivery in Sherman Oaks(on Riverside Drive at Coldwater Cyn.) is no longer there. I went with my family one evening and it had been turned into a Thai restaurant. Sad, because it was a good place to go for some quick and inexpensive sushi.

I’ll admit that I was pretty nervous going here for the first time since it’s not a very impressive looking place. And let’s be honest, the name SUSHIDELIVERYUSA is not the most confidence-inspiring name you would look for in a sushi restaurant, but I thought this place was great. Everything we ordered was delicious and reasonably priced. They even offer brown rice and will even make your sushi with it. Not only do they deliver, but I believe delivery is free after $ 25 dollars(I could have the number wrong). Here’s the best part: YOUCANBRINGINYOUROWNALCOHOLANDBEER. Game Over. Sushi Delivery USA is officially my favorite new restaurant.

We’ve gotten sushi delivered nearly every Saturday night for at least 3 years & it’s high quality sushi for a price way less than sit-down sushi restaurants. If you like sashimi, order their Sashimi platter, the Ichiban platter is half rolls/half sushi(one piece of each fish) Our favorite is the New Ichiban platter which is ¾ sushi(including freshwater eel) with 2 of each fish and a spicy tuna roll. All platters come with their terrific miso soup. Seasonally they have excellent uni(sea urchin), halibut, sweet shrimp. Vegetable tempura is always excellent, not greasy. Specials such as the cucumber roll made with salmon, real crab meat & avocado inside is always excellent. The Chicasan special is salmon sashimi stuffed with ikura(salmon roe). Yum! They also make an excellent soft shell crab roll(spider roll) that is tempura-ed. I’ve eaten at Sushi Katsu-Ya and the sushi at Sushi Delivery USA is just as good at less than half the price. We always get it delivered because this is a tiny place with a few tables, it’s not a sushi ‘bar’. The chef is from Japan & if the fish is not ‘good’ he does not buy it. The chef takes pride in what he serves. You won’t be disappointed.

Ok, I know that a sushi delivery place seems kinda gross and you’re probably thinking, «really?» so to that I say… «yeah…really.» Sushi delivery is just that, they deliver sushi. And it’s not bad sushi, and I’ve had my fair share of bad sushi and this place does not have bad sushi. It’s not fancy, it’s not extravagant, but if you don’t have a car and you want to eat sushi and watch Monk then dang it I want it! I’ve actually ordered from them multiple times, and they always remember me because I order a lot. They’re nice on the phone, the delivery people are nice, and the food is good. They’re website has a full color menu and their prices are better than a lot of places. Also if you want to visit to eat, don’t… it’s called«Sushi Delivery» for a reason. It’s a tiny shop, 8 tables, max out at 16 people aloud in their restaurant, but they give you great service. So I say, «Let them eat sushi!» at home in your jammies while watching Psych with your girl! Enjoy!

It pains me to say it, but this place is just not good. The interior of my caterpillar roll consisted of a huge block of tofu topped with a tiny sliver of eel. My shrimp tempura roll had a huge chunk of carrot, a stalk of something green, mayonnaise, and was falling apart. The salmon sashimi was ok, but the edges looked kind of dry. I only gave two stars because the proprietors and delivery people are really nice. A word of advice: next time you want sushi, get off of your lazy butt and go pick it up yourself. You’ll be glad you did.
