Would I use this company again? NO, NO, NO – under any circumstance NO!!! Two primary but all encompassing reasons: 1) SKYISBETTERSUITEDTOOUTDOOR, ROUGHCONSTRUCTION, WHERENOPARTICULARCAREOFTHESURROUNDINGSISNEEDED. Crew worked either without any protective coverings or grossly inadequate protection(I have pictures), placing, dragging heavy tools, equipment and materials on or through existing, finished spaces and new installs. The result: some damage to our home, interior and exterior(hardwood floors, fence, porch, pavers), and even to some areas of new install(toilet top, new threshold). It would have been even worse, if I had not provided and laid down all the heavy tarps, given small rugs, blankets, etc., to the crew for their use; AND if I had not remained vigilant in asking them to use these protections. However, the owner and most crew members were generally resistant at worst, grudgingly acquiescent at best. THEGLASSINSTALLERWAS A WONDERFULEXCEPTION in this and in every other positive way. 2) IAN, THEOWNER/CONTRACTOR HAD A MERCURIALTEMPERAMENTANDWASEXTREMELYDIFFICULTTOWORKWITH. He presented well at the first meeting; but once on the job, he became arrogant, petulant, intolerant of questions or our opinions, increasingly disrespectful and dismissive of me, a woman(he was more respectful to my husband), and sometimes angry when our design aesthetic differed from his own. FURTHER, more than once we caught him in lies about his communications to us and/or about the work itself. He would then become sullen, uncommunicative, not letting us know when or if crew were coming on a particular day or week. Maybe this latter has more to do with his inability to effectively manage his work load. In any event, I COULDGOON; but it is enough to say that AS A RESULT, THISVERYSMALLBATHROOMPROJECTTHATSHOULDEASILYHAVEBEENCOMPLETEDWITHINTHREEWEEKS, as planned, DRAGGEDONFORSEVENMISERABLE, ANXIOUS, TORTUOUSONES! The sad reality is that with a more professional owner/contractor, Sky has the potential to become a good company; since some members of his crew(NOTALL) actually do good work; and in the end, in spite of everything, the project turned out well enough(we are having someone else come in to make a few remaining repairs/corrections). But such a brutal renovation experience completely ‘took the luster off’ and left us drained. Changing the negative culture of the company would likely require either many years of lessons learned through professional ‘hard knocks’(e.g., losing business) or in the short term, a complete change of attitude from self-centered to client-centered for the owner. For now – for the rest of you out there– BUYERBEWARE!
