Oregon Christmas tree farm grows environmentally SERF certified Noble Fir. Grand Fir, Nordmann Fir and Douglas fir Christmas trees for retail sale and wholesale distribution at their Christmas tree lot located at Los Angeles Valley College in the San Fernando Valley. Established in 1983, we are a family owned and operated Oregon farm business and have served the Los Angeles area since 1993. We bring the best Christmas trees from our farm to our retail lot, and we have and excellent selection of trees from 2 feet small to over 15 feet tall. All of the trees are displayed in water stands and home delivery is available throughout the greater LA area. Open 7 days/​week from November 25th through December 24th. Hours are 9am to 9pm. History

Established in 1983.

Santa & Sons wholesale Christmas tree farm began as an independent Oregon Christmas tree farm labor and reforestation crew. Throughout the late 1970’s and 1980’s, owner Mark Rohlfs worked with local farm labor crews on hundreds of Oregon Christmas tree farms, seeing a wide range of different growing conditions and learning the best wholesale Christmas tree farm methods while developing a broad knowledge of the Oregon Christmas tree industry.

Mark and his wife Patricia opened their first Christmas tree lot in 1981 in Scottsdale, AZ. In 1992, they moved the retail Christmas tree lot and wholesale Christmas tree yard to California in the San Fernando Valley in LA where they continue to run what Los Angeles Magazine called «One of the City’s Best Tree Lots».

Since 1983, Santa & Sons owner Mark Rohlfs has run a family owned wholesale Oregon Christmas tree farm located not far from Eugene Oregon. In 1992 Santa & Sons opened a large retail tree lot in Los Angeles, CA. He is a recognized expert at Christmas tree retailing and his article «The Way of the Milkman» about independent retailers was published by the national NCTA magazine. Mark’s most recent published article about the environmental and economic benefits of Oregon Christmas tree farms on local communities is called «Tree Farms Grow Green Jobs».

This is a critique of the delivery service. Though 7 miles away, they wanted to charge $ 125 for delivery and an additional $ 20 for a stand. This seems outrageous to me so I wanted to post to others looking for a delivery service to go elsewhere.

Been going here for about four years now – like the tree selection better than other places and knowing these are sourced as sustainably as it can get for a Christmas tree is a nice perk. It may be a few dollars more than, say, the Home Depot lot, but I like the availability of Grand Fir trees which have a really strong scent (great for upping the feel of Christmas here in LA, which needs all the help it can get.) The workers always help put the tree on the car and seem careful not to scratch anything while they do it… we will keep going back.

Polite, helpful and didn’t waste my time. I will be returning next season. I do however miss «the good old days» when you could haggle price with the sales person of course back in those days it was «salesman».

Rip Off– I would love to support this family owned business in future however I bought a tree at Santa and Sons and put it in water immediately and it was not drinking at all. They cut an inch or two off the bottom, I put it in water with tree preservative and already feeling dry. This was an $ 87 tree. It felt fresh on the lot but maybe because they hosed them down to keep them moist. There must be something they can do to ensure the freshness better. Also, lady at the counter said they had no tree preservative because all the trees need is water. That;s not true once the tree has been cut. They should carry the preservative and if they ran out they should say so and not give some lame excuse. I had to go to Lowes out of my way to get some. Not satisfied and will go elsewhere next year.

Their trees are a bit pricey — but worth it. Theyre the freshest I have found. I went to a different place last year because they were cheaper and closer to my house. This year I went back to said place and had a TERRIBLE experience with customer service — so I drove over to these guys. Everyone on their lot is in a great mood, super helpful, super friendly and they have a large selection. The guy who helped me — Scott — who is only there part time to help out the owner — was a gem! He was so helpful. The tree I picked was amazing but we discovered it was split in the bottom. He felt bad so got me one from the back that just came in that day — I am sure they would have priced it at about $ 120 and he gave it to me for $ 69. They got the tree on my car and sent me on my way. Its the largest most luscious wonderful smelling tree I have ever gotten. What a great way to turn a frown upside down! I highly recommend them!

This is our first year buying a tree from Santa and Sons, and we had a great experience ! The tree selection was great, little one foot guys all the way to massive 18 feet Christmas trees. We had a friendly employe help us select a tree, check it out, and even tie it to our car. We will be back next year !
tip– there are a few parking spots right up front reserved for tree shoppers

Just got a cute christmas tree for my son from this lot, 29.99 plus tax. All workers are very helpful and friendly. They even fixed the tree and helped us to the car. Nothing extra and distracting (best when shopping just for a tree with kids :)).

*Sigh* Disappointing. This would have been my fourth year buying from Santa and Sons but it just wasn’t meant to be. Trees are getting more expensive and there’s nothing to be done about that. However when you have a loyal customer asking for $ 10 off a $ 100 tree because one side is slightly rough looking and all you get is head-​shaking, that’s not the way to keep a loyal following. If you’re keeping track at home, that’s a %10 discount. I bring my stand back every year. This year I gave the girl at the counter my «stand exchange» coupon and told her that she could keep it. She asked me if I wouldn’t like to hold on to it in case I came back next year. I won’t be back.

So, I’ve used Unilocal for years, but never taken the time to review a single business… until now.
All the details seems correct in general from the other reviewers. I’ve canvassed all of Los Angeles for a good tree, and was shocked by the beautiful trees here. The lot was very professionally setup, and clean. Best of all, I received amazing customer service from all workers, including the owner Mark who hunted down a tree for me until it was just right. It was kind of a winter wonderland, and my children were enthralled. They carried every size imaginable, and only ones in great condition. I bought an 8′ tree for $ 199. Of course not cheap, but you get what you pay for, or more.
So happy to have found them, and I look forward to having a dependable place to buy for years to come.

This is our 6th year getting trees from these folks. We used kt shop around, but gave up. Great selection of chintzy trees for the budget (less than 100 bucks) and a great selection of various kinds of trees (noble, fir, etc). They know their stuff and the owner, Mark is friendly and has been doing this well for years.
Oh yeah, our trees have always lasted through the new year without drying out. Hopefully I did not just jinx ourself for this year.

This review is not about their trees — though we have bought from them 3 years in a row — this would have been year 4 — however a dear friend had her dog stolen and when Santa and Sons was asked if they would put up a flyer to help her recover him — his name is Jack and has been on all the local networks etc…, the response was NO — just NO. The manager wouldn’t even take the time to speak to anyone. These people may love trees, but not supporting the local community that supports them year after year is disappointing to me and all of Jacks followers. Our new family tradition will involve a different tree service this year and any year after. I have also posted on Jack’s page so that his followers will do the same.

I’ve been getting christmas trees from them for years. I’ve been there today and left dissapointed. Superexpensive. Go to Jones, Target, Home Depo. I bet, they gonna have a lot of trees after Christmas!

Santa & Sons has amazingly fresh trees and out of this world customer service. I actually find their prices on par with other decent lots (if they are more expensive, it’s not by much). I personally don’t mind paying a few extra bucks to get a super high quality tree. You simply cannot find fresher trees unless you go cut one down yourself. We have been getting our trees from them for years and they never ever disappoint.
I feel compelled to address the 1 star review below. Yes, you can definitely find cheaper trees elsewhere and if quality is not an important factor, then you should go elsewhere and pay less for a lower quality tree. But don’t give a one-​star review simply because you don’t like the price of a place. As with most everything else you buy, you get what you pay for. It’s like giving a 1-​star review of a Mercedes simply because it’s not the price of a Honda. Not logical.

I am so impressed with how Mark runs his business.
First, I will start out by saying that we had a great experience when we bought our tree right after Thanksgiving. Our salesperson, JC, was very patient in answering all of my questions and showing me the different types of trees. Although their prices aren’t the cheapest in town, I found their trees to be superior to what is out there. Also I like to support small business. This is a purchase that only happens once a year and it makes me and my daughter very happy to see such a beautiful tree in our home!
But where I really want to commend them is that my beautiful tree had a sickness or something. I called and asked them if there was anything I was doing wrong, like not watering it enough. Immediately I was told, please just bring us a branch of your tree and we will give you a new one. They could not have known about the sickness when they sold it originally. The way they took care of me was above and beyond. I am in love with my new tree and they have gained my loyalty for life! If you like service, quality and choices, you are in the right hands with Mark and his staff.

Owner Mark & Patricia Rohlfs are tree-​huggers — literally. They love trees. And that’s why, year-​after-​year, we drive through the valley, past a sea of lesser tree lots and buy our X-​mas tree at Santa & Sons.
These happy little trees come from a super-​green family owned /​operated Oregon farm using only sustainable farming methods. They’re even a member of The Coalition of Environmentally Conscious Growers. This is some serious hippy tree-​loving stuff and I love them for it!
My experience: We show up on a Saturday. Plenty of parking. Walk into the fragrant land of trees. Do we need help? Nope. Discuss the merits of this tree vs. that tree. Pick a tree. Do we need help? Nope. Grab tree and walk to cashier. Pay for tree. Do we want this or that? Do we need help to the car? Nope. Take tree and put in SUV. Drive away singing carols. In and out in 15 minutes with an awesome tree. The end.
Are there cheaper places? Yes. But Christmas comes but once a year. So maybe I’ll spend a little more here than at the deep-​discount Trees We Ripped Straight Out Of The Forest lot — but I’ll support a small family business and their green practices and I’ll feel better about myself for doing it :) Tis the season to feel good, right? Had a great experience with them this evening — Drove in, was immediately helped, and was out the door with a great deal on a wonderfully smelling and very full «grand fir» in 15 minutes.
Our tree is probably around 7ft and definitely did not pay $ 200 as other reviewers noted — we were out the door under $ 50 with a renewable tree at that! Great job Santa & Sons!
