Racz Tibor, DDS

We love Dr. Racz. Coming in off a recommendation of a colleague of mine, I went in to see the doctor on an emergency. He was kind, gentle, thoughtful and sensitive to my concern and pain. I was getting on a plane in a day and had a terrible tooth/​gum ache and was worried I had some kind of serious dental problem that needed attention that day.
He gave me some antibiotics to help with any infection — took X-​rays and saw nothing seriously wrong, cleaned my teeth and sent me on my way. And true to his findings, it was simply an inflamed gum due to a sinus issue.
I switched dentists that day and now have my entire family going to Dr. Racz and have referred friends and coworkers.
I have now been with Dr. Racz for over a year and my daughter and I just had our six-​month cleaning and check up last week! Clean bill of teeth health!

A mutual Hungarian friend recommended Dr. Racz. I had a pretty urgent root canal that needed to be taken care of. He was totally accommodating and squeezed me in on a Saturday. I drove from Orange County all the way up to his office in Sherman Oaks. The drive was well worth it. The root canal was much more gentle than I expected. Then we discussed the ongoing MAJOR problems in my mouth. I had very ground down teeth and my other dentist had for years been telling me that I will need a full mouth reconstruction. All that wasn’t necessary, and Dr. Racz made me trust him because he only recommended what was truly necessary, so I made appointments for further dental work. He fixed several teeth that were medically necessary. And he will soon be fixing other teeth. He was extremely fast, very gentle and the final results were very attractive. He is not just a dentist, he’s an artist! I highly recommend him.

Small and professional practice. Very pleasant experience (as pleasant a visit to the dentist can be). Dr Racz is very accommodating and accessible. Prices are reasonable and unlike other practices they don’t push you stuff you fine need. Kid friendly too.

Private and boutique. I often feel like I’m a movie star going in on the down-​low when I go in here. Perfect setting for a true craftsman, which Tibor is. Oh yeah, the listing is backwards. Tibor is his first name and Racz is his last. Tibor is of Hungarian descent if I’m not mistaken. This is almost one of those deals where I don’t want to let you guys know because I want to be able to get an appointment when I need it! But Unilocal demands the truth and the truth is Tibor is a most excellent dentist. I found out about him MANY years ago (15? more?) from an ex who’s whole family went there forever and one of her brothers is a dentist, too. So now you know.
Nuts and bolts: Parking can be a little challenging. You’ll probably drive by a couple times because it’s on a little side street across from the Whole Foods. Remember I said private? If you’re lucky they’ll be a spot right in front of the door. If not, then there’s parking in a lot behind the building, or on the street. Unless it is an emergency (and they have accommodated me at such times) there is no such thing as an instant appointment. It’s usually a week or two out so factor that in. The reward for good work is more work so he’s usually quite busy and it’s important to be on time so leave early and get there on time.
TMI: Tibor revolutionized my mouth. Many years back, he took all the mercury fillings out of my teeth (in two stages, top then bottom) and replaced them with perfectly matched white fillings. It looks like this sweet tooth never had a cavity, and I’m no longer picking up radio signals from Guam in my head from all the mercury that was formerly in my teeth (humor).
You better be up to speed on your flossing and brushing, etc., because a cleaning here is thorough and deep, but your mouth feels like a million bucks after. Tibor has always worked with me when I’ve had dental insurance and when I haven’t. He always keeps the patient’s needs in mind and does not do unnecessary x-​rays, etc.
I’ve been to some good dentists and some not-​so-​good dentists. A GREAT dentist in this life is a flat-​out blessing directly from God. Thank you God (and my ex!) for Tibor!
