Quest Diagnostics

After reading Unilocal and Google reviews, I felt trapped by my insurance company by having to come either here or one the other local low-​rated labs. Prepared for the worse, I came in and only had to wait five minutes before going to have my blood drawn. When I did have it drawn, it was absolutely painless! The staff was very sympathetic and caring for me.
Minus a star because it’s not as clean as a medical lab should be.

We ordered a stat hemoglobin today for a surgery. Took 4 hours! Never heard of this in my life. I have been a surgeon for over 20 years! It does not take 4 hours to get a result. We have been delayed 6 hours for a surgery! This is a not good. I will not be using this lab ever again. I would give zero stars.

Unfortunately I didn’t have as good as an experience as I’ve had in prior visits. I did not get her name, but it’s the younger woman not the older woman who has always taken courteous care with me. The woman did not greet me at all, except to say sign in and wait to be called… Umm I am a client utilizing your clinic thus bringing in business– further thusly (hmm a word?), keeping you with employment– ACT LIKE YOU KNOW THIS! Use your words & greet a person. Customer service 101 people.
Anyway, I was called for my draw rather quickly as it was only a person or two ahead of me, but then the rude woman informed me that I had two balances owing (which upon calling I found out was incorrect– there was only one & no big deal I paid it via phone with the rep I spoke with while still there); my issue was that this woman told me if I did not pay I would not get my lab work. Excuse me but, that’s not the way you communicate to someone. She said it so sharply & with no common courtesy– instead of saying let me see what this is about & see if we cannot resolve this matter. Instead she treated me as if I had hundreds of dollars of balances owing to them (btw, my balance was only $ 25+), & spoke with me as if I hadn’t been going there for years as a good client with GREAT insurance.
I am having surgery for the second time in 7 mos. with more to come, & this draw was for my pre-​op work up. Therefore, I was already anxious and a bit with nerves due to that fact, so when she said what she wasn’t gonna do in the sharp tone & manner in which she did, I let her know she needs to work on how she speaks to people. Considering that most people there obviously have something of a health issue anyway.
***Also, she speaks loudly about the balance owed so that everyone waiting can hear your personal business. So unprofessional & inconsiderate… Smh.
Needless to say, she came to do my draw but I requested the other woman, since the mean one still seemed quite attitudinal. Sooo, there goes the 4 star rating I’d given last time & I hope they get their customer service skills all the way UP.
**Btw, the restroom smelled badly & needed a thorough cleaning.

Seemed fine to me! The ladies were very professional, attentive and when I went there was actually no line (however 15 minutes later when I was leaving the waiting room was full — so, anything can happen). Parking cost $ 1.50 for me in the designated structure though I forgot to ask when I left if they validated, so perhaps I could have saved on that — I do hate paying for parking!

I can’t give a lab 5 stars because, well, its a lab. What Di you expect? But 4 stars? Sure. Why not?
Got here at the crack of 9:15, one person ahead of me. Sure, there was a wait, but so what? I’m not exactly chomping at the bit to give away my blood and urine, right?
Pro tip: Be nice to the lady taking your blood. Your veins will thank you later.
Bad ass pro tip: Be nice to the lady at the front desk, she might just be the lady taking your blood in 10 minutes.
The lovely, sweet and aptly named Miss Margharita was so skilled with draw that I didn’t feel a thing.
Next time I’m giving away my Reaper juice, I’ll order the Margarita first.

Go literally ANY where else. This place constantly is full of the rudest most incompetent phlebotomists I have ever experienced in my life. Never ever again. (Side note: 2.5 hours for a blood draw?)

Went there today for a blood test.
Bathroom is funky, old stained toilet seat.
Screw missing from phlebotomists chair to control height of cross-​arm so they have improvised with napkins and tape, yuck, dirty.
Just a generally funky location.

I have gone here before, it’s close. I have insurance that covers this. They still required a 250. payment. I’ve been there before, this is new. So whether you have insurance or not you got to pay $ 250. The person who does this told me that the last time I didn’t have to pay because the computer wasn’t working bull shit.

This location gave me a bruise after they took my blood!!! I will have my lab work done at lab corp from now on

I have been here on MANY occasions. WHY? Because my HMO ONLY authorizes use of this lab. GOOD NEWS: New group effective ¹¹⁄₁ so no more QUEST.
Today’s experience is just ONE of NUMEROUS issues: I arrive at 7:45 a.m. (no appointment). I wait for thirty five (35) minutes. I listen to others be inquiried, loudly, as to their medical issues (despite HIPAA). I am called and also, loudly addressed for other patrons to listen. I am directed to the back.
In the back room, I am told, «you know, you owe money.» I informed the person that I do not owe money but that I am not concerned (because of this being Quest’s general unprofessional bungling…). She argued, «no, you owe money.» I said, if I owe money, it is because they have not posted my check ($ 30) and I am not concerned and do not want to address this. I told her that I received the bill about two weeks ago. She persisted (for NO reason). Well, if they have not posted a payment you made two weeks ago there is an issue. I told her that I received a bill two weeks ago, and made the payment through bill pay. And I am not lying and this is true: She said, well if you got the bill two weeks ago and you just paid it, you are late and should have paid it two weeks ago! Talking with this flobotomist, I continued to waste my time with this unhappy and ignorant person, being a captive audience waiting for blood to be drawn, I told her that this is absurd. She actually printed a statement that on it says that $ 30 is owing and in status, says, CURRENT. Can you believe it???
I won’t waste my time or yours to tell you that this is a drop in the bucket and this place is like a third world communist dump. I have changed my group, in part, to use another lab — the new group (HMO) uses another lab.
Oh well.

My Mother and I had a horrible experience at Quest Diagnostics in Sherman Oaks at the 4849 Van Nuys Blvd location. My 90 year old Mother who has dementia needed blood tests. Despite having made an appt, we waited over an hour to be seen, a long time for an elderly person with dementia. (I had told them of her condition when we arrived and told them that we had an appt.) The other people in the waiting room – mostly seniors– had waited a very long time too, also with appts made ahead of time. When my Mother and I were finally taken into a room for the blood draws, the process continued to be slow and inefficient, which at least partially explained the back up in the waiting room. The woman who worked the desk was not helpful or responsive.
My first thought was that maybe our bad experience was not reflective of Quest Diagnostics in general. But as I shared our experience with others who had used another Quest facility both in CA and on the East Coast, they too complained about terrible service and huge out of pocket charges that Quest did not alert them to.
The next time I need a lab, I won’t use Quest Diagnostics.

Worst lab experience I’ve ever had. I went 2 days in a row, waited an hour and got skipped over twice. The technician and front desk clerk were extremely unprofessional, speak WAY TOO LOUDLY so EVERYONE can hear EVERYTHING in the waiting room that is being discussed in the patient rooms, as well as all of your personal insurance/​financial/​medical information. Additionally, they wouldn’t even acknowledge me or look me in the eye when I tried to get their attention when they were letting 2 more people cut in front of me after waiting an hour. Oh, and by the way, I wasn’t the only one on both days this was happening to. I witnessed 3 phone calls today completely ignored by the desk clerk. Another patient had to basically pitch a fit twice that she had an appointment in order to be seen (I wonder what time her original appointment was supposed to commence at…) And the lady who was actually drawing blood looked like she was a former professional female wrestler who could break most of my guy friends in half… I was getting more squirmy by the second sitting in those uncomfortable chairs. So unless you feel like putting those well-​spent bucks to use and using your acting chops to throw a tantrum on the floor of the waiting room like its the most important thing you gotta do that day, I suggest you go somewhere else.

I just left & had a great experience. No wait & the young lady did s great job w no pain. Kudos.

They have 1 person to work the front desk and take blood … When i got there it looked line she was taking a break it took a while for her to go to the front and start calling patients in. I can’t believe how long we had to wait. Horrible!!!

This is a medical labatory in which people come in to get various tests done. I walked in to do a breath test. Apparently my blood work was also submitted to the same office directly from my doctor. Without expressing my anger for their billing practices (I was billed twice because they couldn’t connect the pieces between my blood work and my breath test so it counted as two visits, even though I only visited once) I would absolutely never again step foot in this office.
This office is filthy. It’s a medical office, one would think it would be kept clean and maintained, absolutely not the case. I took a picture of the chair in the exam room so everyone can see how disgusting it is. How do you not clean your furniture? Am I wrong to expect a medical lab that has patients coming in to maintain some level of cleanliness? If we can see this filth, than what can we not see?

This is a horrible lab. My husband went in and the russian lady that works here was so rude and didnt want to help my husband she couldnt be nice at all. I dont know why these people get hired if they don’t know the first thing for customer service nor obvioulsy know how to work in the healthcare industry. Rude just rude! The labs my son needed results for are time sensitive and now thanx to this women. Ima have to do all culture again!!! Thanx rude lady!!!

I made an appointment and was seen within 10 minutes. But the best part of all, they drew my blood painlessly and effortlessly even when I’m terrified of needles. This is so far the best test center I’ve been in.

I’ve gone to quite a few labs over the years and have never had such a terrible experience. The purpose of opening at 7:30am is for individuals to come quickly for a blood draw before work. The purpose is NOT to sit there for over 30 minutes waiting for a staff member to arrive so that they can draw blood. The customer service is LACKING — I sat there for over 40 minutes waiting for someone to even call my name to fill out paperwork. I ended up needing to leave because I had no more time to waste in the hope that I’d be seen.
Word to the wise — don’t come to this lab if you don’t feel like wasting your time and dealing with poor customer service. I will NEVER come back to this place, I will find a better Quest Diagnostic in the area!

I’ve been here several times over the years and have always found the staff courteous and efficient. The place is always clean and I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seen — even without an appointment. They’ve always drawn blood quickly and rather painlessly. The only times I’ve had a problem is when I’ve shown up dehydrated, which makes drawing more difficult. Make sure you drink lots of liquid the night before! Keep in mind they’re closed for lunch between 12:30PM and 1:30PM.

Small and quiet. The person in the front was very pleasant. She was very professional with my mom and really made her feel comfortable. There was practically no waiting time as we were the only ones there. Fortunately because right after more people came. She had a decent hand to take out the blood.
