Recommended by a friend, these guys really did a great job at finding a problem on my 1999 Honda that no one else was able to find. No upsell, no bs they just did their job and did it right. I’ll be going back to them for sure. I’ve even had my 2010 Prius there. No question, they know what they are doing and they do it right.

I won’t take my Tundra to anyone but Paul’s Automotive for maintenance and repairs, even though I now live 45 miles away. I refer all of my friends to them, as well. Thumbs up all the way.

I really appreciate the excellent service here. I have taken my Honda Fit multiple times for different services and they always do an excellent job. They didn’t charge me to diagnose the problem which most other places will and they are always upfront about all costs. I also this the prices are very fair and they never try to talk me in to anything I don’t need. The staff/​owners here are always super friendly and super quick. They always have my car ready quicker than expected!

Paul’s automotive service center is simply the best. Do yourself and your car a favor and make this the place to go when you need service for your vehicle. It doesn’t get any better than Paul’s. They really care about you and your car.

I LOVE this place! Have been going there for years now and they’ve seen me through most of my cars. I always feel taken care of and not like I’m being swindled into buying what I don’t need or what will fill their pockets better (like many other car places Ive been to). They are honest and trustworthy and very fair. I want the world to know how awesome this «mom and pop» business is. I love giving my business to ‘small’ businesses and they are at the top of my list :) Thank you Paul’s for being so honest

Fast, efficient, trustworthy, and no BS. I’ll be back!!! I dealt with Louis. He helped me out when I was in a hurry and needed help immediately, getting me right in and out. Next week I’m going back to get a full check up on my car.

I am very disappointed. The first time I took my car there and they gave a fair service. The second time the told me that I needed to replace the catalytic converter and other stuff and gave me an estimate. I took my car to another workshop and they checked the car. My car needed the repairs recommended by Paul’s, but at the same time they found a broken sensor glued. So Paul’s was recommending me repairs of parts that they did damage during the previous service. That is pretty low. I won’t come back.

I really can’t say enough about these guys. I was recommended to Paul’s by a good friend who’s used them for almost 20 years. My friend is just as picky about his cars as I am mine so I was comfortable dealing with them from the get go.
Paul and Louis are really fantastic. I brought my baby (Cadillac XLR-​V) to them for a complete brake overhaul. I’m very picky so I insisted on providing all the parts. They had no problem with that. I felt their prices were fair for the amount of labor involved. But, more importantly, they instilled a sense of caring confidence often lacking in today’s auto repair experiences. I will return to them in the future and can highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good, old fashioned Professional Auto Mechanic.

Car started acting up as I was driving up the 101, so I pulled off at Van nuys to pop the hood and take a look. Found out the alternator bolt had broken, so my belt was flailing around, beating the crisp out of everything, and sounding like crap!
At the gas station I stopped at, the guy couldn’t guarantee he could fix it, or even LOOK at it for at least 4 hours, wth?! So I limped it across the street to Pauls where they had me on the road in less than an hour, for a fair price.
Good service, fair prices, and someone running the place that doesn’t look or act slimy, like most mechanics… What more do you want?

My car stalled about a block away from this shop and I’m so thankful I found them. They took my car in immediately and were able to find the problem. They were very knowledgeable and honest about the work they had to do on my car. They took the time out to explain the situation to someone like myself, who doesn’t know much about cars.
I would recommend their work to anyone. I will definitely come back in the future.

These guys are great! Lewis and Paul are not only great mechanics but great listeners as well. You can tell they are thoughtful and experienced and dont just dive into a problem without considering all options. Every repair has been done right the first time and comes with a warranty — something thats very rare in the indy mechanic world and thats something I’m willing to pay a little extra for. I’ve never been overcharged and the work has been done on time every time… you should have no worries about letting Pauls work on your car!

Car wouldn’t smog because of check engine light. I had to go to a Star Certified Test/​Repair shop. They quoted me a price to diagnose the problem and repair the car. Cheaper than the mechanic closer to my house.
Car was fixed (diverter valve) and passed the smog test for the amount quoted. In a reasonable amount of time. I would go back.

I have only had good experience here, and I have found their prices to be very competitive. I have gone to them for oil changes, and once for a bigger repair. Their work was done in a timely fashion and they were really nice and easy to deal with. I plan on always taking my cars to Paul’s and I wish I had found them sooner. I totally trust them and think they do great work.

I’ve been taking my cars here since 1996. Yesterday they did my 75,000 mi service and front brakes. They always do great work and if they’re pretty accurate about how long the job will take. They’ve never over charged me for anything. I highly recommend them.

Friday afternoon, need to get my car smogged before i can renew my DMV fees, and Paul finds a way to get me in before the end of the day. Yes, I am a friend of Paul’s since our kids go to school together, but I am a «farmboy» who can fix my own cars and I still trust Paul to take care of my cars. I know there are cheaper shops out there who will «fix» a symptom without a thorough diagnosis, but Paul has always done a great job troubleshooting and giving me the «quick fix» option or the complete repair which for those of you who don’t know cars, will always save you money in the long run. As the saying goes, «pay me now or pay me later…»

I’ve been going to Paul’s for 5 or 6 years. They were referred to me by my neighbor, who drives a Mercedes (I don’t) and is quite particular about where he takes his car for repairs.
As a woman, they’ve always been honest with me and never tried to rip me off (or my husband for that matter). They always call before doing work to let me know what is wrong and what the estimate is, if they can get the parts (i.e. official Toyota part or not), if the less expensive option is the way to go and they complete the work quickly — often in the same day.
I’ve taken my 2^nd car to the dealer down the street many times and the last time I visited the dealer for a minor issue, they called to tell me I had over $ 4000 in work that needed to be done! I drove straight to Paul’s, asked them to check the entire vehicle and let me know what needed to be done. They quoted about $ 250 in work for the problem I knew about. Everything else was fine — no issues. I asked them to look over what the dealer gave me, double checking that the clutch was fine, the timing belt and so forth — yup — all good. The dealer has a big new building to pay for… Ain’t that the truth.
It sucks to see the handful of negative reviews on here. I don’t often write reviews on Unilocal,and I know finding a good, honest mechanic is not easy. I’m happy to say that the people at Paul’s Automotive Service Center are good, honest mechanics.

I don’t know how they are still in business, since they don’t know anything about cars. I took my car in one time for an oil leak. They told me I need a million things and it woud cost 1500+. I took it to another mechanic on burbank blvd and they found a hose to be loose, tightened it up and didnt want to charge me anything. It turns out that was the ONLY oil leak my car had.

I have used Paul’s Automotive in the past for minor things and i’ve always known them to be honest, fair and fast but last Saturday they really blew the doors off my expectations! While driving to a job-​site, my truck developed a sudden loud screeching sound and became difficult to drive. After I safely parked it and calling my tow company I called Paul’s Automotive. They were able to take me in as soon as I could get there and diagnosed my problem within minutes. They then called around for the parts and got my repair done same day, even staying past their closing time for me to get my service and repair van back on the road!!! They really went the extra mile for me and I will always refer Paul’s Automotive over there. Ernie and the team really came through! Thanks guys!!!

If I could give no stars for a review, this would be the one.
I wish I had read the reviews on here previously because much like Hollywood L.‘s case, I was completely ripped off, and in the exact same way. Oh, and here, great, I am a woman too.
«Oh, the check engine light is on, and well that means that if you smog it, it is going to be an automatic fail.» said Lewis, one of the guys that works there. «I am going to need to run a diagnostic test to find out what’s wrong with it.»
Funny, because my check engine light wasn’t on, when I left it there, but apparently it came on when he started it.
He also told me that my ignition switch needed to be replaced as that was the reason that my car would not turn over when turning the key.
So I figured okay, fine. Lewis runs the diagnostic test, and says that is my crank reference sensor that needs to be replaced, that will be $ 48 for the part, $ 100 for the labor.
I am thinking, jesus, that’s pretty steep labor.
I get my car today, after they had it at the shop for a week. I brought it in last Friday and then they said they would call on Monday, to which they didn’t, since it was President’s Day. I then called yesterday, to find that it still wasn’t completely fixed, (labor costs aplenty, mind you.)
I call this morning, it still hasn’t even been smogged yet. He then calls me an hour later and says it’s fixed. Then as I get into the shop, Paul and Lewis both start going into what else needs to be replaced. I tell them well I don’t drive it that much, and am hoping to get a new car soon. They also tell me they replaced my battery, to which I never said I needed my battery fixed. They just fixed it without asking me.
I pay $ 525, get an immediate headache, thinking about how pricey that was. Get into my car, and it started really hard, exactly like it did when I first brought it in there on Friday. It doesn’t start any better than it had last week, making me think that that $ 525 was a complete rip-​off.
And to top it all off for this glorious experience, I go home after getting my car, park it in the garage, and get ready for work.
I go out an hour later and my car now won’t even start.
I call Paul immediately and tell him my dilemma, he asks me if I have AAA, to which I don’t. And guess what, I think if they didn’t get my car fixed and working, after a week of having it and after me spending over $ 500 to get it fixed, they should have someone sent over here or at least get it towed back over there, without me having to pay anything.
Excuse me, $ 525, a week of having my car and supposedly fixing all of this stuff, and my car still isn’t working?
Go someplace else.
Hopefully I will be able to review again so they can rectify this situation, because this was the absolute worst car shop experience I have ever had.
Adding on:
On Monday, I finally had my car towed to Non-​stop Auto and they told me there that it was the starter. Dave, there, also said he wasn’t even sure they had fixed the ignition switch on my car, which was what Paul’s Automotive apparently fixed.
Also I finally got my car today and the check engine light is still on, which I now remember that it was never on in the first place when I took it into Paul’s.
After talking to others, I have heard that the check engine light scenario is something mechanics can use to have you spend money on stuff that technically doesn’t need to be fixed. Uh, hello, «Crank Reference Sensor» Riiigggghhhhttt.
After another $ 300 to fix the starter today, that is a total of almost a thousand to get my car fixed, most of that money I am pretty sure was a complete waste and a rip-​off.
I stand as I did originally, do not go to Paul’s Automotive.
