On Saturday, I danced hip hop, top 40, salsa, merengue, and even… kizomba! Yah, you heard me right — kizomba! In addition to a kizomba lesson, we got a lesson in Casino (Cuban) style salsa, three dance shows, food, drink and open dancing. All for $ 10! Now that is a deal!
Kizomba is a unique African dance that is really popular in other areas, but not well known here. To give you a feel for it, check out this video:
Rome, the instructor, also has examples on the website. Pretty hot, but yah, it doesn’t exactly look like that when you are learning the steps for the first time! LOL
As for the dance shows, we saw a nice routine for day of the dead, an excellent salsa routine and… a pole dancer. When I saw the dancer and the pole, I thought «Oh damn! I can’t show my wife that I’m enjoying this» but dammit if she wasn’t there talking to the pole dancer about taking classes. Hahaha! Nice…
Overall a good time. If you are in the area and thinking about learning some unique dances, definitely check it out.
