History
Established in 1983.
Luanne Porter created Mom’s K9 Kamp, after owning and operating The Academy of Canine Obedience (ACO) in Orange, CA. for 18 years, providing behavioral modification training for dogs with behavior difficulties. Along the way, Luanne earned her certification in training Assistant Dogs for the disabled, and added that service to her program along with daycare and boarding provisions. For family considerations, she and her now grown daughter moved to L.A. in 2006, and opened Mom’s K9 Kamp (MK9K), an extension of ACO. They love and are dedicated to the dogs and the business, and run it out of their home. Keeping the dogs in mind, they chose a house with a large, securely fenced-in yard where the dogs have plenty of room to play, in a quiet, dog friendly neighborhood. Moms K9 Kampers enjoy professional services, training and TLC in a personal, home-like atmosphere.

Business Owner
Luanne Porter is a PDSDAT certified dog trainer who started training dogs for behavioral difficulties 1984, and, over the years, learned how to train assistant dogs for people with various disabilities, receiving her certification for service dog training. She received a degree in psychology at University of Missouri, which helped her to develop her own style of training dogs called «Play Training». It’s all about positive reinforcement in the form of play. This method requires neither food treats nor punishment, and the result is a solid, long lasting method of training. Luanne works closely with the dog’s family to make sure they understand the dog and vice versa.
She is a single mother of a daughter, JayCee, who was born in 1995. JayCee has been helping her mom with the business since she was about 5 years old, has learned everything there is to know about dogs, making her an excellent dog trainer as a result. She now works part time with her mom and goes to school full time.
