I bought a Groupon for haircut, color and hydrating mask. I am a law student and have a networking event I wanted to look presentable for.
I emailed to schedule an appointment. I had a doctor’s appointment that was supposed to go until 4:15. I said as much in my email. I got a response saying that the only opening was at 3:30. Again, I had a networking thing so I cancelled my appointment for the hair appointment.
I arrived at 3:20. I was told Michael wasn’t there yet. Okay. 3:30 comes and he’s still not here. A coworker texts him and apparently didn’t get a response. Another coworker calls. This is our conversation (at
3:45 on a co-worker’s cell phone):
Him: I’ll be 5 minutes late. Me: actually 5 minutes or the la interpretation of five minutes.
Him: well Give me 10 minutes.
Me: I had a doctor appointment i said would be over at 415 but had to reschedule to be here. So when will you be here?
Him: five minutes
Me: if you aren’t here by 4 I am leaving and expect a refund.
He shows up at exactly 4. There was some test he was taking… traffic…typical LA excuses.
We get down to business finally. We agree on a color. It was mostly what I wanted, but I was too frustrated to really care at that point. We didn’t talk very much during the process.
The one redeeming factor (it earned the second star) is that he did a good job on the hair cut itself. I told him I needed something simple but edgy. He complied and gave me something that was easy to manage at home.

First let me say that I am extremely picky when it comes to my hair.
I had been going to stylists in West LA on the recommendation of people I trusted but wasn’t happy with my hair. Mike was recommended by a very close friend who knows what I need from a hairstylist but I was very skeptical.
This salon is nice but very different from the ones I had been going to but that turned out to be A really good thing I liked the friendly staff and their concern about my comfort & Mike turned out to be a gift.
Mike is very personable and good looking. He is creative, very professional & most importantly he patiently listened to what I wanted. He made suggestions but never made me feel pressured to do any of them unless I was completely comfortable. He made it very clear that they were only suggestions & his first priority was to make me happy. So no pressure to do anything I didn’t want to do & in the end we collaborated on a new look for me.
I can honestly say that the result was amazing. He did a straightening treatment (I did the Keratin treatment but he also does YUKO the Japanese straightening treatment) I got a new richer base color & really beautiful, caramel bronze highlights. He also layered & shaped my hair & the results is stunning. I get compliments from other hairstylists, makeup people, photographers, friends, family as well as people I run into at the supermarket or a restaurant.
I am truly impressed with Mike & his hair cutting and coloring skills. He is über creative & has truly impressive customer care skills, which as far as I’m concerned is almost the most important quality a hairstylist can possess. I feel like I can trust him with my hair, I feel «heard» and I feel confident with his expertise & know that when I walk out the door my hair will be gorgeous & for me that’s saying something!

I’m a very picky guy.
Mike was fantastic, professional and has a great attitude.
I gave him artistic freedom for a new style, and I was extremely happy with his ability.
I trusted him and he came through!

After years of disappointing haircuts (mainly Supercuts), I’ve decided to bite the bullet and spare the extra expense of using a professional hairstylist, which brought me to Mike back in 2006. Since then, Mike has done a variety of different styles on my hair; from simple spiking to dying a solid platinum streak on the part of my head. While my preference in hairstyles has certainly changed since then, I’ve always been satisfied with my visits to Mike. In fact, he never allowed me to leave his chair until every strand of hair on my head was just perfect. Also, scheduling an appointment with him was rather straightforward after I decided to verify my appointments with a phone call. I’m doubtful if I’ll ever find another hairstylist as talented as Mike should he ever quit hairstyling.
