Helena Wirth Cakes

I was looking for bakeries for our wedding day and are on a budget, we walked in to Helena Wirth bakery (our first stop!) I am so happy we did, Mary took care of us and we walked out ordering our cake, she was very nice and helpful, I am VERY HAPPY we found her and this bakery. she even had samples ready for us to try, very tasty! I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quality cake.

This was my first time ordering from Helena Wirth cakes. I ordered a themed cake and cupcakes for my daughter’s 3^rd birthday (princess and superhero theme). Their cakes are delicious and the superhero cupcakes they made were cute, too. The cake, however, was highly disappointing. It was supposed be the showpiece for the princess theme and have DRAWN Disney princesses around the barrel of the cake and Frozen as an overall theme with Elsa & Anna on top. I met with them in person and followed up by emailing the «inspiration» pics like they asked. In the email, I specifically asked for all of the princesses to be seen from the front of the cake and repeat the pattern on the back of the cake. The cake I got, honestly, looked like it was thrown together last minute… like they forgot about the cake and had to put something together with half effort the day of the party. They took my «inspiration» pics, which were low resolution images, and put BLURRY photocopies on the cake. Never once did they say they were going to make photocopies of the princesses! I asked for drawn images! Also, they spaced the princesses around the cake so you couldn’t see all of them from the front — which is not what I asked. The cake was also surprisingly messy, with dark smudges on the light colored and white parts of the fondant and the images on top spilled over to one side of the cake making it looked unbalanced. For the amount of money I paid, I’m really surprised and disappointed by the end product. I’m giving them a star for the flavor and another for the cupcakes, but I won’t be ordering from here again. Disappointing.

I had a great experience! The staff was amazing to work with and very professional. I brought them a picture of what my kids wanted and they did an amazing job!!! Cake was delicious!!!

Best Cakes in the Valley!!! I recently stumbled upon Helena Wirth and I’m so glad that I did. Their cakes are fantastic… beautiful on the outside and light, fluffy with the perfect amount of sweetness on the inside. But what really blew me away was their customer service. Mary is an absolute doll… so easy to work with! I had to reschedule my son’s party at the last minute due to weather conditions and Mary was not only understanding, but comforting and accommodating. They even donated cupcakes for my kids preschool bake sale. I’ll never get my cakes from anywhere else!

I finally found my go to custom cake shop! They create not just beautiful cakes but delicious and moist as well. The owners are very accommodating & they would adjust within your budget without sacrificing the quality. I highly recommend this place!

On a recommendation from a friend, I went for a cake tasting for my wedding. I needed to make sure that they could do grooms cakes as well. I have to say that everything was amazing and our cakes were PERFECTION. They made me a grooms cake in the shape of a DC-​10. Nobody else would do it but they said yes.
They NAILED EVERYTHING! The cakes were delicious and the price was incredibly reasonable. Our wedding was 8 yrs ago and people still talk about the wedding cakes and the amazing grooms cake.

I met with Moises (owner) for a complementary cake tasting for my upcoming event. He is very nice. I previously emailed him pictures of similar cakes I would like to recreate. During our meeting he referenced the pictures and explained each detail of the cake and gave me a quote. The quote was much cheaper than local custom cake shops in the area. The cake that I tasted was moist and taste very original. A couple of my favorite was the chocolate ganache, pink champagne, and red velvet. I have been to several cake tastings within the past couple weeks and this was the best so far.

If you want a beautiful, great tasting cake and wonderful service, this is the place for you! I have ordered at least 6 cakes and each one was amazing. Moi was able to meet and exceed all of my expectations. These cakes helped make our events even more special. I will go back year after year. Moi treats us like family and makes sure we are satisfied. I highly recommend this wonderful bakery.

I ordered my daughter’s first birthday cake here! One layer of pink champagne and one layer of strawberry! It was delish!!!

I ordered my daughter’s 1^st birthday cake in 2012, i called about a week prior to ordering and they gladly scheduled me for cake tasting. All the flavors were amazing! The texture was just right and the staff we’re so nice ! I didnt have a specific picture of a design i wanted, all i knew was that i wanted minnie mouse theme… say no more they took care of the rest. The day of the party everyone was amazed at how beautiful the cake looked, and impressed with how good it was ! Everyone came back for seconds, no leftovers! I will definitely be coming back for my second baby’s 1^st birthday cake! :)

Unimpressed. Disappointed. I haven’t have a chance to place the order for special birthday or try the cake. The reason that I write this review is because of the person answering the phone. The only thing he can say was «you have to come, I can’t give you any information». It was very simple questions I ask but he rather unspoken. It seems they don’t care future customers. I read other review and find out that it wasn’t only experience this kind of service. If he is one of employee, the owner is unlucky. If he is one of the owner. It won’t worth to this place.

I LOVE LOVE LOVED my daughters custom made cake for her 1^st birthday party. It was Circus themed. The vision of a Carnival Snoopy and Woodstock circus tent cake came to life. Thank you sooo much! I highly recommend Helena Wirth Cakes. Oh… let me not forget about the delicious cupcakes. There were a variety of flavors and had filling inside of the cupcakes. The party guests couldn’t stop talking about how good they were! I will definitely be back for all of my cake and cupcakes. :-)

Their cakes are delicious. This is my second time ordering from them personally, but my friends order from them for all of our events. This time, I ordered a specialty cake and some cupcakes for my Hubby’s 45^th birthday. They did an amazing job!!!
The cake was marble at the top and red velvet at the bottom. We also had lemon cupcakes. Everything turned out great! By the end of the night, all that was left was the collar and sleeves.
I drive from Baldwin hills to order their cakes. They haven’t let me down yet. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because Im not sure about pricing.
They also have you come in and taste all the flavors. I gave them a picture of the cake and they duplicated it perfectly!

Excellent flavors and custom cakes for all occasions I’ve gotten Birthday & wedding cakes for my events, marivi is so attentive nice and very sweet she has great people skills she has helped me 100% on my orders and anwer all my questions. I love all the flavors they have, all ways did my cakes exactly how i picture them, excellence is how i would describe this bakery and their stuff.

Unfortunately, I haven’t tried the cake, so my rating is really relevant only to the man who answered the phone when I called to get a quote. I first emailed and then called in asking for a quote for a single 8 or 9 inch round cake (to feed 8 — 10) with flat fondant around all sides with the only décor being small fleur-​de-​lis and initials to be etched or tooled onto the side. No flowers, no ribbons, nothing else. The guy on the phone quoted $ 450.00! That pretty much ended the call right there. It’s one single cake — no stacked cakes, no cut and shaped into anything, just a single round cake.
I have quotes from 4 other reputable companies — A Little Piece of Cake, Lark Cake Shop, and Big Sugar Bake Shop all quoted $ 110 — $ 130 for this, and Charm City Cakes quoted $ 300 for it.
So, I certainly can’t see how $ 450 warrants this size of cake with this design. Too bad.

I placed an order for my boyfriend’s 21^st birthday! Pink champagne is the best flavor I got that for the cake. For the cupcakes I did chocolate and red velvet. They’re easy to talk to great business I’ll definitely be back to order more goodies. Highly recommended !!!

The friendly staff at Helena Wirth Cakes were very accommodating and talented. We needed a very specific cake design in a short amount of time, and they really delivered. They even helped me secure the cake into my compact car, and gave me a gripping cloth to keep it from slipping while I drove.
The cake itself looked fantastic. It was a huge hit with our TV crew. We got vanilla cake with vanilla mousse filling, which was moist and delicious.

Loved my cake! Moises and his wife are very welcoming ! Came in for a birthday cake and they delivered! The cake was amazing, moist and delicious ! I got a 8″ round cake with funfetti on the inside and a custom made Detroit Tigers theme on the outside. This is a family owned bakery and treat you like family which I loved! Came in a Friday and only gave them 5 days to deliver! I will be coming here for all my special occasions ! Thank you Helen wirth for an amazing cake!

I’m in a search for a great lemon cake. This bakery specializes in custom cakes. In a show of great customer service, they sold me a sample pack of 12 smaller pieces of their custom flavors.
The lemon cake was the best I’ve tried so far. Soft fluffy cake, tart lemon curd and a soft delicate buttercream frosting. Excellent!!!

This review is overdue because my wedding was back in August, but our cake from here was amazing!
My husband and I looked at a lot of different bakeries for our wedding, and did a tasting at another place, but decided to go into Helena Wirth Cakes after walking by it so much. The samples were good, and they had a variety of flavors. My husband especially liked the purple yam. They were so nice and accommodating to us. When I went to place the order for the cake on another day, the woman who helped us sent me home with more samples of it for my husband.
The wedding cake itself was GREAT. We had a top layer of purple yam (which is both pretty, and delicious, and which we cut at the wedding– the purple also makes for a fun cake cutting photo), middle layer chocolate, bottom layer vanilla. By the end of the night, purple yam and chocolate were completely gone, and my husband and I managed to sneak away the few last slices of vanilla. We had other desserts at the wedding as well from our caterer, but the cake was still very popular. The cake was moist, and fresh, and they delivered it to our reception. Even though it was summer, the buttercream still looked amazing.
I also think their prices are very fair, as was the delivery fee.
They also worked with me on exactly what I wanted the cake to look like. I wanted a textured buttercream that was a little off-​white that would accommodate two fondant cake toppers that we had purchased from elsewhere, and they did exactly that. The cake was beautiful. They also gave us an honest estimate on how much cake we would need for the number of guests that we had.
The store itself is very small, and not as ‘fancy’ looking as some other places that do wedding cakes, but don’t let that stop you. This place is honestly so delicious and their service is great. Overall, a stress free experience in buying a wedding cake. And their fondant cakes in the window are adorable.
My husband and I can’t wait to go back for our one year anniversary and order another cake for ourselves.

5 STARS !!! I ordered a «Cookie Monster» cake from them for my boyfriend’s birthday. And it was the most beautiful cake ever. I was very specific in what I was looking for and I think they achieved that more than I ever expected! The staff is absolutely friendly and welcoming. The cake itself was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be coming back!

My experience was a few years ago and it was such a horrific experience that I have never had the desire to ever step foot inside Helena Wirth.
Although I had set up a cake tasting appointment they seemed very surprised when I walked in. I was the first appointment of the day.
The storefront presentation was dusty and old and it even got worse once we were inside. I have no idea when those fake cakes on display were last, if ever — dusted/​cleaned. There were all shoved into any empty space available… it was just to much. It seems as though the owners do not take pride in presentation only to get the deal $$$$ closed.
Our first experience with the representative requseted that we sit at 1 of their 2 tables. The tablecloth was a dirty, white & plastic… and it had a hole on one corner. While we had small talk with this lady we began to look through their cake pictures and the pages were all sticky, old and discolored. Eventually the lady asked what flavors we like so we said a few but asked specifically about the flavors they had so the lady said she would be back with some samples.
About a half hour after we were waiting to actually begin the cake tasting another couple walked in. The same lady began to assist them and they actually got there cake samples before we did! After reminding the same representative that we were still waiting she said «oh» and went into the back room. This place is a very small place. It would be impossible to forget about us but she managed.
She eventually brought a few tiny samples out and then we asked if we could get water to drink. She said that they did not have any to provide.
The samples were awful. Very dry cake and the frosting felt as if I had eaten a stick of butter drenched in sugar which was then stuck to the roof of my mouth! So incredibly gross.

I realize that this is just my experience and even after reading all the positive reviews I will still never go back! I simply had a very poor experience. For the price that they charge, I much rather go to a reputable bakery such as Portos or Hansen’s (just to name a few)… at least there I know the cakes will turn out good.
