The Girls Guitar School teaches girls of all ages to play guitar, really play guitar. Not just enough to impress Grandma, either. Students will get an introduction to open chords, power chords, simple scales and all things rock! They won’t be playing any princess themes, either. Material will be drawn from female artists and songwriters like Taylor Swift, Joan Jett, Liz Phair and the Donnas. If you want to learn to play (and have a ridiculous amount of fun) give us a shout. We offer group, private and semi-private lessons on site and on Skype.
History
Established in 2010.
Girls Guitar School is dedicated to the education and empowerment of women and girls of all ages through music and especially the guitar. Students are encouraged to explore and discover their own talents and capabilities in the classroom and also through exposure to the musical wealth of the city around them. GGS students have gone on group field trips to concerts (such as the Donnas & Susanna Hoffs) and enjoyed private in-studio conversations with local and nationally-recognized female players.
