My review is for the staff, not dr. Niss. Extremely rude receptionist. I called in to get information on availability, doctors hours, etc as I am trying to find a psychiatrist for the first time. She was very short, rude, and not helpful at ALL. I asked if the doctor was available for a 5pm appointment since I, like most other adults, work until evening. Her response was«well of course not» like that was the most bizarre question she’d ever heard. I called to get help. It’s hard enough to pick up the phone and make that first call in to a psychiatrist’s office. I’m sure most of the people that call in are in a fragile state and this woman makes you feel much worse than before. I will never understand why a mental health care facility would employ someone like this.

Dr. Niss is a nice man. And if you are looking for someone to prescribe medication, go to him. But if you’re looking for someone to get to know you and seek other alternatives, he is not the doctor for you. His staff is competent, which is more than I can say for a lot of doctors offices. Basically, my experience was disappointing.
