I’ve had the pleasure in working with Mike and his crew on a client project and have to say they are amazing! They are very professional, responsible and responsive (which often times can be very hard to find in a construction company). Aside from the project manager, Mike visits the site himself on a regular basis to ensure client satisfaction and that everything is on track. He makes sure that his subcontractors are responsible for cleaning after themselves daily and does not allow loud music to be played (kudos to that, I’m sure any neighbor can appreciate). I would highly recommend him and will surely be working with him on future projects. Thank you for making my life as an interior designer easier and less stressful!!!

Mike Ross is one of the best builders I have had the pleasure to work with! Not only does he take care of his clients needs and concerns, Mike takes care of his subs too! I have worked with Mike on many renovations. As a designer, I must say Mike keeps the phases and flow of his projects steady and accountable. Mike has the ability to keep his chain of communication clear and consistent to his crew which is everything when it comes to construction, building and design.

I would put zero stars if possible. Mike is the hardest person to communicate with. If you work with him and try to communicate via email get ready for a frustrating experience. Not the type of service you would expect. Seems like he is checked out or just not passionate about his job — which might be the last thing you want from an expensive contractor. Very disappointed in him and his team.
Since my original post Mike has tried to pass the blame onto his architects and anyone else except for himself. Only after he read my post did he send me an email longer than a sentence long and finally called me! So if you want him to contact you I suggest reaching out to him on here. It is very frustrating in general when a person doesn’t own up to their faults. I originally gave him the address to my place and a description of the work that needed to be done… So he had the ability to check it out before. He either did not do his due diligence on the job or just wanted to waste my time because yesterday was the first time he told me he didn’t do this type of work. Make sure that you document everything with this company. He did try to «compensate» me for lost time… Which sounded like he was trying to pay to get this post off his review. If he did this with me he could’ve taken the same approach with other posts.

I want to say thank you Mike. Ross and his team. I had my home completely remodeled and it looks amazing. They were neat and courteous and always on time. If you are looking for a trustworthy contractor Mike Ross is your guy. I have my friend remodeling her home now because of how amazing mine came out.

Mike Ross and his company are a great resource for any home building and remodeling in Los Angeles. They have a professional staff, friendly and they keep their promised schedule which in this line of work is a huge plus!

Having had a positive experience with Mike on a remodel for my home, I immediately turned to him again when one of my rental properties in San Pedro sustained major water damage due to a busted pipe. He’s trustworthy, flexible, and gets the job done right. He even came in under budget. After finding material for cheaper than planned, he passed those savings on to us.

We hired Mike Ross & Co. to completely overhaul 3 bathrooms and our family room in our 1920’s Hancock Park/​Larchmont Spanish Revival. The previous owners had «updated» it into a 90’s mess. Bad wallpaper, failed walls, horrible home depot bathrooms… Mike was there at 8am with his crew the day after we closed escrow. All of his workers were polite, clean and very respectful. They got to work immediately and never skipped a beat. He was fair on every single aspect of the job. Of course change orders came up (lovely to tear down wallpaper and have a wall fall down!) that we did not anticipate or budget for but we were able to come up creative ways to stretch our funds. Anything that I wasn’t happy with he immediately addressed and made right. I plan on using Mike for future work and can’t wait to recommend him to all our friends. Honest, reliable and top notch on all levels.

We had had some bad experiences with other contractors– lazy workers that took forever to get anything done. Mike and his posse remodeled our kitchen quickly and efficiently. They were nice guys that minded their own and got the job done.

I highly recommend Mike Ross and his company. Mike is always professional and his work is beautiful. His company turns out dated homes into wonderful structures that are pleasing to they eye and more importantly his work increases the value of the home.

At a Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce meeting, I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Ross and hearing him present on behalf of his business, Addition Building and Design. I decided to hire him to do a sunroom for my school’s check-​in and waiting area. So far, his crew has been very professional. They show up on time. The work is excellent, and they clean up meticulously at the end of each day. Mike knew my financial situation and helped me afford this much needed addition to my studio. I trust and recommend him. He’s a great family guy and an ethical businessman, too.

In 30 plus years of homeownership, we have completed many major projects on
different homes. Mike Ross CEO of Addition Building & Design and his
subcontractors surpassed our expectations. We have just completed a major remodel of a second floor master bedroom and bathroom with Mike. Taking a personal interest in each project and client, Mike is respectful of budget constraints and very creative. We are type «A», extremely demanding, and impatient clients. Mike demonstrated the wherewithal to calmly handle every aspect of the project and respond to requests. Mike and the subs are on the job six days a week and met with us as early as 6:15 in the morning to accommodate our work schedules. Sometimes he was on site two or three times a day.
He came up with some very creative ideas to enlarge the space and bring a light airy feeling to the rooms. I casually mentioned the need for extra closet space. Through Mike’s creativity and persistence, my closet has more than doubled in size and the bathroom and closet have both electric and solar light. From dawn to dusk, there is virtually no need for electricity, even for aging baby boomers with poor eyesight.
Mike’s subs are outstanding, respectful of your home and belongings, and leave the workspace clean. While Mike has outstanding resources, weekly emails laid out the daily plan and were followed by daily confirmations. As a result, there was not one down day without a sub on the job. We felt so comfortable with Mike and his subs that we left them with a key for two long weekends. During one weekend, they completed hardwood floors, rewired telephones and televisions, painted three rooms, hallways and left the house spotless. His subs have tremendous respect for his work ethic and professionalism. Everything was completed in a timely manner with great attention to detail. We would use Mike again in a heartbeat.
We would like to recognize the outstanding, honest and meticulous work of the sub-​contractors– Tom, Miguel, Roman, Uncle Steve, Gonzalo, Jose, Raff, Manny, Steve, and Plumber Mike. We would use Mike again in a heartbeat.

We ALMOST went with Addition on our bathroom remodel… but I did some last-​minute investigating and changed my mind. Here’s what happened: Mike told us that Burbank city code required a bathroom door be 36″ wide, so he would have to widen our current door frame and install a new door. That was going to be an additional $ 1000.
Since no other contractor had mentioned this to us before, I called the Burbank building division to check this out for myself. And, guess what — Mike was wrong. The 36″ requirement is for front doors only.
Either Mike didn’t know what he was talking about… or he wanted to make an extra $ 1000. Both possibilities scared us.
The search continues for a licensed contractor with workers compensation insurance.

I was very glad to get a referral to Mike at Addition Building & Design for my recent master bathroom remodel. I’ve had past experiences with contractors that finished late and cost more than my original estimate. Mike did what he said, at the price he quoted, and actually finished almost a week ahead of schedule. They also provided a bunch of very good solutions to my big ideas.
Not only was he a construction professional, but he realized the importance of communication. He let me know everything that was going on so I was able to plan my family/​home life around the work schedule so that the remodel was ACTUALLY easy. I would recommend this company to anyone that I know professionally or personally. 5 STARS! Not sure why Unilocal is filtering my review for Mike since I think it would really help others know his integrity and my satisfaction

I love-​love-​love my new wood floors and I loved hiring Addition. Mike’s crew did exactly as promised, completing the work within a weekend (does that ever happen?!). I have the new wood floors in the whole first level of the house, new paint on all the walls, tile in the guest bath, a new ceiling to replace outdated ‘popcorn,’ and gorgeous, sexy recess lighting. The price was phenom and he worked with a very tight budget. Most importantly, a mistake was made when one of our glass pieces was damaged and Mike’s foreman corrected the damage on the spot. I know it’s scary to bring people into your home, and you hear horror stories, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. Feel free to contact me personally if you would like more details.

Addition Building Design is a top notch company.
The company gets the job done and within budget. They do a job that they are proud of and that, as a home owner, I am proud of too. Mike (the boss) is on the job sight daily making sure that everything is taken care of to his, extremely high, standards.

When we bought our house, the patio had termite damage and fungus rot. We called the company that did the initial termite inspection for the close of escrow… they came out to see what they missed. They agreed to fix it and apologized for not seeing the damage. They sent out their own contractor and workers, and those people made an absolute mess! They were unprofessional and tried to ‘fix’ the patio as quickly as possible. The patio was starting to look worse than when they started! Let’s just say after 4 days of them working, I was in tears about it… Long story short, I asked the contractors to leave my property since they were ruining it! Soon after that, I called Mike at Addition Building and Design. He could tell I was really upset. He came to the house to survey the damage. He said that of course his guys could fix it and that it would look beautiful. I was skeptical that anyone could fix the mess the other guys left. He was understanding and knew exactly what needed to be done. I had been through so much with the previous contractor, I was relieved to know Mike and his team would be able to make that nightmare stop! About a month later, they started the job and in about 3 weeks… Voila – we have the most awesome deck ever! The deck is all redwood and the railing design is so pretty. He also made some other improvements around the house to tie the look of the exterior of the house all together! It’s just fabulous! I look forward to calling Mike again to do more work around the house!
