AcademyX Computer Training

Steve the trainer was great. He is very well proficient in all of Microsoft suites and can really help you with what you need. Eddie from the academy was very communicative and Steve showed up well dressed and on time. Very professional I would recommend.
Lesson was for Excel Pivot Tables.

Let me first say that the training was legit and helpful (took SQL). Only three students in my class, and the instructor was very knowledgeable and started at a basic level and moved along at a good pace. Luckily, we didn’t have anybody slowing us down so the pace was brisk and appropriate.
But I almost gave three stars because the facilities (office suite) was so run-​down and unprofessional. The quality of the training would be approved by my company, but I could never in a million years recommend a business tech training to be held in their LA office. It reminded me of a sketchy doctor’s office. When you walk in, there are boxes and an old-​fashioned fax/​printer, the carpets are dirty, and there are random building supplies all over the place (ie, ceiling panels, shelving, etc).
They have it set up so that there is no projector but instead there are extra monitors nestled in between the students that project the instructor’s screen. I wasn’t sure how it would be, but I have to say it was actually a really good idea and much more effective than a projector — it would have been hard to see the screen. But again, the place looks so unprofessional — there was malware on the computer, and we had to do some debugging to get all the files we needed before we started.
I would enthusiastically recommend this place but the professionalism and appearance really needs to be worked on. Like, it’s that bad. But the content of the training was spot-​on.

For months i was looking for someone who teaches Adobe Dreamweaver to help me switch hosting companies. (I maintain my local websites on my computer at home, but when it comes to higher technical things I need a little help.) It was so difficult to find someone qualified that could come to the house, and help me switch hosting companies, and set up e-​mail and domain forwarding etc.
I e-​mailed local colleges and computer training schools, nothing worked out, and out of the computer schools, Academy X was the only one who could come to the house on a consulting basis, to complete a specific task, as opposed to teaching a class.
Before I could commit, I needed to establish that their instructor was qualified to do the job. Eddie, the manager at Academy X, and I e-​mailed for quite a while, I asked a lot of questions, they really went the extra mile answering all my questions before I committed to pay for their expert to come out. Even though I had just recently received another referral for Dreamweaver from another source, the time Academy X took with me before I even hired them, really helped me make my decision for me to go with Academy X, and I didn’t even call the other referral.
Sharon, their Dreamweaver instructor, was great, we got it all done, she is also qualified in word press as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Thanks for a great class. I“m a newbie to InDesign and wanted an overview of all the functionality. The instructor (Rick) was thorough and had lots of practical tips. Pace was just right and covered a lot in a short time. I need to take free repeat course AcademyX offers to reinforce what was shown and get more comfortable using it.

I took an access vba course at the Encino location. Though my class probably wouldn’t have won any registration awards (there were 2 students) the facility was well organized and could accommodate classes up to maybe 25. Keurig on site =a++.
The course materials were for basic level vba but the basics were well covered. The instructor was amicable and knowledgeable, and given our small class size was able to explore specific programming questions we had.
I’d recommend Academy X.

The AcademyX Class taken was SQL Fundaments, over 2-​Days. The course covered the basic materials and was clear and concise. Definitely the best value for your buck around as most other classes were $ 2−3K and this only ran around $ 700 per person.
My only critique is that the instructor (and possibly their system of teaching) invovles quick lessons and running through examples, some of the time it felt like we were simply copying scripts from a book and not truly diving into the materials — I have however retained much of the information and it has been quite useful.

took a social media training course to advance my skills in this area. shyam and setra (husband and wife) shared the training over the course of the day and both were excellent, very likeable and very knowledgeable.

I wanted to take a training seminar about SQL scripting fundamentals and found AcademyX during my web search. The SQL training class is a 2 day course and covered all the areas of SQL scripting that I was looking for. Their website did a very good job outlining exactly what we would be covering, which was a big part in my decision to choose AcademyX over the other options. Plus the course they offered was affordable $ 695.
The instructor was well educated and led the class in a constructive way. The course was also well put together and started off basic and progressed up to the more advanced SQL scripting. I already had a fairly good knowledgebase of SQL due to my own work experience, however there were others in the class where this was their first time being exposed to SQL. I believe the instructor did a good job keeping us all interested and set a pace we were all comfortable with. We received a comprehensive training guide-​book with all the details we covered. It’s a helpful guide and I find myself referring to it at work sometimes.
Their training center is located in an office building off Ventura Blvd. and conveniently located to restaurants that are within walking distance for the quick lunch breaks. Their actual office is kind of lonesome, just a few training rooms and offices. There was no one else in their office except us. The kitchen area was also empty, except for the 1 coffeepot; I couldn’t locate the water cooler. There is a challenge with parking, $ 15 per day to park in their parking lot, or you can find parking on the streets. However, street parking can also be tricky. Depending on the day; you would need to move your car for street cleaning. (I had to do this.)
Overall the office experience could use a good update, and the parking situation should be considered. However the actual SQL Scripting Fundamentals course was excellent and the instructor did a great job. I would consider taking more training classes at AcademyX and I recommend it to others.
