Trees 101, LLC is an independent tree consulting and education service based in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, serving the eastern panhandle, nearby Maryland and Virginia, as well as the Washington DC metro area. Our mission is to promote tree health by offering professional consulting services, and by empowering individuals and groups to understand trees and participate in their care. We strive to be low impact and carbon neutral, supporting local planting efforts to offset our carbon footprint.

History

Established in 2013.

Meet the Business Owner

Shawn W.

Business Owner

Shawn has more than 8 years of experience working with trees and tree care. After two years of general horticultural education and training he received a master’s degree in forestry in 2006. After working in conventional forest management, he moved on to serve as an urban forester in New York City, and then as an arborist in Washington DC. Most recently he developed and led adult education classes and workshops as an urban forestry instructor at Casey Trees in DC.

The various influences and experiences in Shawn’s life have boiled his tree care philosophy down to a simple concept: Trees and people can and must share critical roles in our ecosystem.
