Nice looking restaurant. We were invited by friends for a quick get-together. We had the Vazzy’s Pink Pasta and the Vazzy’s Special. The Pink Pasta was pretty tasty and I think the Special was good enough, but for the life of me, I can’t quite recall it a week after I had it. Considering the price and the crowded, highly competitive market of Italian restaurants in the neighboring areas, I think we can do better, but I wouldn’t mind going back to it and sampling more of its menu. After all, we did like what we had, except for the bread, which was a bit too hard.

Great place. We walked in after being shut out of Asian Bistro(NYE — even with reservation it was over an hour wait and they were turning people away even though they had reservations). Lovely staff, food was wonderful. Had some great apps — fresh and fried mozzarella, chicken parmesan and sorrentino. Quick service as well. Will definitely go back.

Went tonight for a quiet, intimate New Year’s dinner with my boyfriend. We were surprised to find there was plenty of seating available and the tables weren’t crowded together. We had a little booth off to the side which was comfortable and roomy. We were really taken by the friendliness of the entire staff. This is rare compared to the other Vazzy’s in the area for which I did not leave a good review. The dining room was tastefully decorated and the lights were dimmed. We felt we were at a fine dining establishment rather than a family restaurant. The service was professional and friendly, the food was fresh, tasty and very generous. I had the frutte de mar and it was loaded with seafood; mussels, clams, calamari, shrimp, scallops and even lobster! The fra diavolo sauce was a little bland but the seafood was so fresh that I didn’t even care. Some crushed red pepper and Parmesan cheese helped. I paired this with their house chardonnay which was delicious and a large glass for the price. My boyfriend had the steak gorgonzola special and loved it. All in all, it was a great experience and we’ll definitely be back.

Just catered a holiday lunch for 300 people. We had a pretty low budget and Paul, the manager, was able to work with us, provided a great menu, tips on how to stretch the food, and we had pasta left over. Of course, the meatballs went first, but we forgot to cut them in ½. The pasta rustica was a hit as was the eggplant parm. I think everyone’s favorite was the stuffed bread and cheesy bread which was sent with tons of dipping sauce. Michael the delivery person stayed to help us set up handled the hot food going into catering trays. He was patient and truly wanted us to have the best set up for our group. I would highly recommend Vazzy’s of Shelton for all your catered events.

I hope our experience is not the norm. We had a party of 22 people(9 were kids under age 11) on a Thursday night at 5:15ish. So, not really busy. It took 40 minutes to get plain pasta and plain meatballs for my kids. When they brought it out, it was wrong! Pasta with butter and meatball with sauce. The waiter, Thomas, never smiled, and seemed put out by our presence. Hey buddy, you were given 18% gratuity just by us walking in the door! We were in the side room and the wait staff seated smaller parties right next to us when there was plenty of room on the other side of the room. Then the other guests complained my kids were moving around. Well… they were bored. 40 min to get food!!! 40!!! It states it is a «family restaurant.» It is certainly not a «young families’ restaurant.» We take our children out to eat almost weekly, and we have NEVER had a complaint about their behavior. Some wait staff at other restaurants tell us to ASK for them because they enjoy our kids. I also did not like that they used giant glass bowls for italian ice for the little kids. That’s like asking for broken glass.

I hosted my daughter’s bridal shower at Vazzy’s this weekend. The party room was booked so our event was in the restaurant. From the initial booking to the end clean up the process was seamless. The staff, particularly the servers that worked our party were amazing, attentive, helpful and pleasant. When I arrived they came out and helped me empty the entire car. They checked with me several times during the event to ask if we were ready for the next course, wanted more appetizers placed out, wanted them to clean up etc. The assistant manager drew up a schematic of how the room would look based on what I wanted and sent it to me in advance for my approval. The food was delicious. All of the guests loved the food, the atmosphere and the event. A big thank you to Vazzy’s for helping me make my daughter’s day so special. I will definitely host another event at this restaurant!!!

Came with my family for Mother’s Day last night. The place was kind of dead, yet Outback Steakhouse next door had a wait and a line out of the door… hmmm. There was a rowdy bunch of men watching golf on the bar side, the noise translated into the dining room. Food was delicious and great portions. I had the ravioli in marinara. We were given a special Mother’s Day menu, my mom was kind of disappointed that their Meatball Salad wasn’t included as that’s what she specifically went there wanting. Each woman at the table was given a rose at the end of the meal, nice touch.

We came here with our friends who are local and knew this place. As soon as we walked into this place we smelled a delicious food and some basil smell and it was already a great intro! We were greeted by two hostesses who were smiling and welcoming. We ordered veal Marsala and fish and chips which were very delicious. Portions are not too big but food is definitely delicious! Malbec wine was great too. Atmosphere is very cozy and there is a bar!

Had purchased a gift certificate back in April. Put it in with my CC when the bill came. Manager comes out to tell me that they«don’t honor these anymore». Certificate clearly states«no expiration date» and in state of CT, gift certificates of any kind cannot have an expiration date. I pointed that out to manager but he didn’t care. Had some pissing contest with . Was not helpful or understanding at all. Here’s a hot tip, jackass: that’s your problem, not mine. I don’t care. We had a decent meal, we’d probably come back. All you had to do was suck it up, credit the gift certificate amount, smile and move on with your life. It’s not going to put you out of business. Being a world class douche to your clientele will. This Vazzy’s is nothing special. Meh bar. Meh food. Meh service. Now they have worthless management. Good luck with that. We will never return.

Gross! Veal Saltimbocca. And the waitress recommended this over the Veal Marsala because she said the Saltimbocca«is more unique» — that should have been the huge red flag. The prosciutto is squares of meat — I have NEVER seen this before except for in a jar for a southern creamed chipped beef. The veal is in a sea of sauce which is way too salty. So the redeeming aspects? A well meaning waitress, veggies on the side in lieu of a starch, but that’s it. When I’m in Shelton I traditionally eat at Il Palio and I was reminded why when I ate again(after a few years) at Vazzy’s.

I came here for lunch. It was decent Italian food, but with all the excellent places around I would prefer those. The service was friendly but slow. They did have a nice patio and bar area. May be more fun to just go for that.

I think this place is great, especially the bar area for both food and drinks(and I love the big TV’s always showing sports). My favorite Italian restaurant in the area — I always stop-by when visiting from Denver.

Very strange experience here last night. I was at the bar with a friend, and we had just received our second round of beers. As I lifted my glass, the bottom of the glass dropped off and the entire beer spilled all over the bar(onto our phones), and covered my shirt and skirt. It was as if the glass had been sliced about an inch from the bottom. Nothing shattered(thankfully) but it was a huge mess that I didn’t cause. I asked the bartender for paper towels and was told, as soon as he delivers these other drinks. Thanks, guy. Take your time. I was soaked. But the best part? They charged me for the beer. It was only after they realized I wasn’t leaving them a tip that they paid me back for one beer. I’m surprised they didn’t try to charge me for the glass, too. Seriously, the whole experience was so highly unprofessional and lacking class and consideration, I was appalled.
