Marie Eiffel Market

Completely incapable of catering a brunch. Hired Marie Eiffel to cater a casual wedding brunch for 170 people. The event was supposed to last 2 hours, but 1 hour in we ran out of jam, butter, quiche, coffee, and fruit salad… Leaving only pieces of baguette and some croissants. The quiche servings were cut way too small (I know it’s French portions, but this was ridiculous) and it was brought in cold, not even room temperature. When I approached the owner about the lack of food she was extremely rude and defensive, I only wanted her to provide some more pastries or put SOMETHING else out for the remaining guests. She was incredibly difficult to work with, I would never encourage anyone to hire her for an event. Instead of using the coffee makers provided at the event space, she attempted to bring all the coffee in using thermoses (why we ran out so quickly). She also refused to heat the few quiches that were available up before serving them. Overpriced, ridiculously small portions, owner is rude and difficult to work with– go elsewhere for any catering needs.

Nice, clean café. Good coffee, pastries. I have tried the turkey meatball sandwich and it is very good. Friendly staff.

I had a perfect, French style fresh raspberry tarte here. My husbands’ cheese danish however, was completely ordinary. Go figure.
Last month, they offered delicious poached salmon, but did not have it this month, alas. The lobster salad is fabulous — $ 50.00 per pound.

Great place to stop for a quick salad — you can eat in front of store or at the tables facing the water in the back. A bit on the expensive side — but still worth it.

A totally overpriced rip off. A $ 12 dollar sandwich with two pieces of meat is not a sandwich. Typical overpriced French bakery. I realize it’s Shelter Island but this place is a joke.

The best place on shelter Island to eat if you like great food and an amazing view of the water then Marie’s is where you should go

Great pastries and baked goods, solid salads and prepared foods and a varied range of dried and packaged foods. Their cheese selection is pretty stellar also. If you’re a meat eater, the burger is a must. A ritual during each visit to the Island is to grab a coffee or a bite and sit on the back patio and while away a couple hours — sometimes engaging in interesting conversations with other clientele. Service can be hit and miss if the regular staff aren’t available. If they are = standout. They always remember us and greet us warmly. The owners on the other hand have rarely acknowledged us with even a smile. Coffee can be inconsistent and some of the sandwiches are overpriced. Still, we make almost daily visits when we’re on the Island for a stretch.

I love this place!!! For Shelter Island, they have a huge selection of gourmet goods, sandwiches, meats, seafood, pizzas, and baked goods. This place is always crowded with tourists like me and native Shelter Islanders. They aren’t incredibly cheap, considering the quality. All of their produce is fresh and good buys. Make sure to try their pizzas, which look amazing. Their gelato is wonderful, so smooth and flavorful. I always look forward to coming here when around the area.

Same wonderful food, same friendly owner, new name. Still one of the best spots on Shelter Island to grab a quick lunch, cup of coffee, or even some specialty foods (incl a great selection of gluten free items) and beer.
The lunch salads are exceptional, with delicious homemade dressings and fresh ingredients. Sandwiches are very good too, although if you order a sandwich on the gluten free wrap, be ready for a very small sandwich at a premium price, with not much inside.
Overall though this is still an excellent gourmet deli, where you can eat outside or in and people watch as well.

Literally the best bakery in New York. I don’t know what they do here that the others can’t figure out in the city– but the baguettes, pain au chocolate and croissants rival any bakery in Paris.
They have a small but more than sufficient and very delicious selection of most things you would want for a gourmet picnic. Marie (I think «curates» would be the appropriate verb here) a perfect selection. Good coffee, a couple fresh pressed juices, fantastic cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fish, local veggies and fruit, and other hand selected sundry groceries. But really, that bread though.
You will, keep in mind, pay for it. Then again, you’re on Shelter Island, so you already knew that.

This is more an «upscale Deli Café» than a «market». I’m a boater and I used to be able to pick up rolls, condiments and other supplies. It is no longer a «grocery market».
Type of packaged goods is limited to refrigerated drinks and some good produce, fresh breads, sandwiches and refrigerated items.
It is a busy location, expensive with upscale breakfast menu, great sandwiches beverages and fruit. Choices might not appeal to young kids.
They take credit cards and you may sit at tables and chairs overlooking the harbor’s mooring field.
It’s an island. Take the ferry to get to a market for supplies.

Redding’s is amazing! The service is great, atmosphere is beautiful & food is to die for. Redding’s is owned by a very nice French woman. She is always at the store and is very hospitable. She make conversation with everyone– as does the rest of the staff. It is a bit pricey and during the busy times of the day (8 – 10) & (12 – 1) it takes a bit longer to get your food. However, it’s totally worth it! I totally recommend going !!!

Cute little gourmet market, complete with high quality produce, bakery, deli, fresh fish and oysters, and frozen section. Think organic vegetable chips, seaweed snacks, rose lemonade, and Amy’s frozen vegetarian meals. Or pear almond tarts and wicker baskets to do your gourmet shopping in.
Expensive (but what isn’t on the island?) Grabbed a quick lunch for three of gazpacho, lobster roll, and lamb sandwich for just under $ 50 to give you an idea of price range. Some cute seating outside with a view of the water. I highly recommend the lobster roll, and I would definitely come back here to try their pastries.

As soon as I got off the ferry at Shelter Island last week, this was my first stop. It was my first time on the island, and I was shocked at the exorbitant prices. I paid $ 3.50 for a lemonade and something like $ 13 for an Italian sausage sandwich and fries.
While the prices are a little ridiculous, the food is AMAZING. The Italian sausage kept me full for the day and was one of the best sandwiches I had ever eaten. We ordered at the front and the lady at the cashier was on of the friendliest people I had ever met. As she took my name, she made conversation and complimented me on it (uhh what? haha). We got our food about 10 minutes after placing our order. The entire restaurant seems completely family-​oriented, which i did enjoy.
We managed to get seats out on the patio and were able to watch the boats ass by as we sat out back. Although I am still not over the sticker shock, I am completely in love with the food, the view, and the service.

Can’t go wrong with Reddings– it’s a little pricey but everything around the area is, and they don’t skimp on quality. The lobster roll is a killer and the chocolate covered pretzels are my new guilty pleasure on the island. The staff are all smiles and super friendly, and service is quick. I’ve heard the soft shell crab sandwich is amazing and they have rotating specials. Also a fan of the fresh juices. :)
You can take your food to the back patio, where you can enjoy your meal by the waterside on a nice day.

Went there for breakfast, what a cute little market. Everything seemed really fresh and the chefs were very serious about what they prepared.

Also have to go salads and the lunch menu looked amazing! I can’t wait to go back

A little expensive but totally worth it. Your go-​to place on the island for breakfast on the weekend, sandwiches, gourmet & artisan foods. Love this place.
