What a pleasant find. Near silver lake sand dunes, it’s a literally a barn on the side of the road. It’s very well put together with a blend of local honey, I’ve cream and jams. In the back there is a wine tasting station which was incredible, you could have 5 samples free and order a glass of wine on the spot. If you’re hungry they have a modest crackers and cheese tray which was perfect for my wife and I to enjoy with our glass. Some of the reviews I’ve read mentioned the staff was aloof or discourtious. I didn’t find that to be the case. I believe people expected a sommelier but the staff was really summer help. If you’re adventurous try the asparagus wine.

My family has vacationed here for the past three summers. Each year, my husband and I come to check this winery out because it’s so close. The wine list mostly includes sweet wines, which is more my husband’s style. They have two dry reds. I give this a place a 3 because their service is not good. Each time, the sommelier has seemed uninterested, doesn’t jump to engage with us, and this time she scoffed and rolled her eyes at comments others were making about the wine.

This is a must visit if you are in the area! The wine is great! Try the harvest cherry slushy! Staff are very inviting and helpful. They let you sample ALL their wines for free. They have a very nice shopping area full of local treats. The barn is beautiful inside. We went back a second time because we didn’t think we bought enough to take home the first time!

Very nice help a bit pretentious young ladies who do not look 21. The wine is mediocre. No flavor.

During our second wine trip in 2011 this was one of our stops. The sommelier seemed to be knowledgeable. She was able to describe the wines and guide us by our preferences and she was friendly and patient with us, which is always appreciated because I’m very picky with my wine. This was one of our favorite places to stop and not just because they had the best hard cider I’ve tasted. I loved that the tasting area was just in the back of their large open store. We have spent so many wine tastings in small cramped rooms, so this was a nice change. We picked up some awesome hard cider, which we didn’t open until a month ago and it was still great, and a rose wine. We wanted to buy more but at that point we just had so much wine from our other stops. Another big bonus was that it was a beautiful drive from where we were staying, which was in Montague. I just wish it wasn’t such a drive from the Chicago area.

A group of 4 of us visited this tasting room on July 28, 2013. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the tasting was free. I started by tasting the hard ciders, which were excellent! All the wines I tasted I liked. I only tasted the dry reds. We paid $ 2 to taste their specialty asparagus wine, which was interesting. Not bad, just asparagussy! My husband and I tried the peach champagne and loved it. Prices are very reasonable with many specialty items. I will visit Fox Barn anytime I am near the west side of michigan. It was GREAT!

Would avoid like the plague. Service? A negative 5. Sat July 20, 2013. The one sommelier(she was really just plain wine server here) was very prejudiced against a guy with long hair(me) and showed it gladly. She refused to acknowledge me or my wife, was only serving one couple while the other sommelier was serving 3 couples. Sorry the business has to suffer such a blow because of one stupid ass.

The wiife and I stumbled upon this place on a family drive. The place is adorable, just what a winery should look like, the staff was friendly and the owner was there to talk to us just by chance. These are great people making some very good wine. Their red was great and we indulged in some peach wine as well, if you’re interested in something then they will give you a taster. If you pass it by, definetly pull over.

Neat store. The wine is not that great and definitely steer clear of the Asparagus wine. The cider is good as is the fresh produce and jams
