Don’t get the reviews. I’ve been going here for years. The staff is always courteous and respectful. Even lucky enough to have a few favorite go to techs. There check in isn’t complicated nor is anything else here. Always come away with a fabulous pedi

Went because my husband bought me a gift card for my birthday, enough for the top mani and pedi combination. I was really looking forward to some much needed pampering and de-​stressing time. I arrived on time, but sat waiting for 10 minutes, while others were getting called back. No big deal, figured it was only 10 minutes. When the girl finally came to get me (I would tell you her name, but she never told me), brought me back and asked me what I was there for. I was trying to tell her I wanted the top mani pedi (all the extras) that my gift card was enough for, and that I was willing to pay a little extra for the gel polish. She refused to do that, or to even try to understand what I wanted. She said I couldn’t get all the extras with the gel, or something like that. I was confused, she wouldn’t give me what I wanted, I was frustrated so just do whatever. She had my feet soaking, then disappeared. By this time people that had arrived same time as me were half way done, talking to the girls, and having an enjoyable morning. Finally at 10:30 my girl strolls past me with her purse and a sally’s beauty bag in her hand, she was shopping… nice. She didn’t say more than 10 words in the hour and a half. Pedi was just so so, and the mani was not any better than I could get cheaper anywhere else with friendlier people. I asked my husband to not buy me a certificate there again.

First off, I’m not a regular pedicure person so maybe I have different standards than some. I just ask for a clean shop and good customer service and received both here. Had a mini girls day with my mom and decided to get pedicures (because I was in serious need). Both of the girls who worked on us were very friendly and professional and we were very happy with the results. I saw nothing wrong in terms of cleanliness and my mom agreed (she has very high standards with that). Overall, it’s not a super fancy place, but I wouldn’t think twice about recommending them.

I used to love going to Luv to get a mani/​pedi, but this place has gotten a lot worse over time. I went in for a mani/​pedi before my cruise a couple of months ago. The girl who did it was clearly in a rush and applied my toe nail polish unevenly. She even missed spots that I discovered when I got home.
The worst though was the manicure. I have natural nails and asked for a french manicure. The white polish was applied so thin that you could still see my nail underneath the white polish. It looked as if the manicure was a week old and my nails had grown out. Needless to say I won’t be back and got a new a fabulous manicure while on my cruise.

Went here twice and had a very terrible experience, the only reason I went back was because I had a gift card the second time. Not only was my gel nail polish unevenly applied, my nail lady went to the back room to speak about me at a distance I could obviously hear what she was saying to the other ladies. It made me feel very uncomfortable, I went to this place to receive a better overall experience and I did not enjoy being judged by the workers. I would not recommend this place, overly priced for a poor experience.

LUV’s is not perfect but it is the place that I keep coming back to for a number of reasons 1) It is clean! 2) the manicure and pedicure staff is great 3) Services and products are on trend and 4) the prices are reasonable. The downsides is that you must make an appointment, it is rare to be able to walk in. The front desk staff is a bit standoffish (which I don’t understand but it has always been that way). I was disappointed that at Christmas that they didn’t offer some gift card specials like many other places do.

I have not been here in a very long time, but received a gift card which I used recently. Making the appointment was very easy. The person I had to do my pedicure and manicure including gel/​shellac color was very nice and not over bearing. Overall she did a fine job with everything.
I want to note that this location lacks cleanliness. The bathroom is dark and kind of dingy. You’ll also notice at the tables where nails are done the TVs are quite filthy and dusty. I was pretty disappointed by this.
My last disappointment was that I was told gel nails are guaranteed to last at least 2 weeks with no chipping. One of my nails chipped the very next day and a second one a week later. For the price they charge for this service I will not be coming back to have it done again. The rest of my nails look great so it sucks that I didn’t even get past the 24 hour mark with one of them chipping.
Overall, the lack of cleanliness was my biggest problem with this location.
update: Less than a week after having services done here I had an appointment with my family doctor. She noticed that it looked like I had athletes foot. I have never had this before and the only thing I had done differently around this time was get a pedicure here. So again, very disappointed with this place.

Wish I would’ve listened to all the reviews. The service and all the staff were really nice, but my manicure is crap! One nail is filed crooked. She used such a rough board that I can see it through the nail polish on the nail bed. There’s crap underneath my nails still. And she told me the nail dryer time would dry my nails especially with the polish upgrade that I got, that was not true and when I got in the car they were still wet and I have a smudge. Needless to say I won’t be going back.

Luv looked so beautiful on the inside and I heard from channel 955 that they did a really good job. My friend and I decided we needed to get our eyebrows done so we went there to try something new. The girl who did our eyebrows did not wax on the top only on the bottom of our eyebrows and in the middle. She hardly plucked at all when she was finished. She finally showed me the mirror and she completely botched my right eyebrow making it so thin. She was extremely nice so I didn’t say anything, plus what was there to say it was already ruined. When we went to go pay for our eyebrows our bill came to $ 14.00 each. I have never paid that much to get my eyebrows anywhere. The most I have ever paid was $ 10.00 and I thought that was okay because the lady did such a good job. I would not recommend going to this place. They over charge you and they do a half ass job on your eyebrows. I have also heard from other numerous people that they do not do very well on your nails either. Total rip off.

I took my daughter and her friend here for my daughter’s 17^th birthday. This is the first time that she has gotten a manicure and pedicure. I let them know on the phone that I have never been here and that I have never gotten a manicure or pedicure so I wasn’t sure how it all worked out. I also let them know it was for my daughter’s birthday and she would be bringing a friend. I asked if I could get the birthday package which cost $ 45 a person and you get a cupcake and a bottle of nail polish, they told me no because I was only having 2 guests. So I went with the classic manicure and pedicure for $ 35 a person. When we got there they had to sign in on a computer and mark that they were new. Again, I mentioned that this is the first time we have been here and we never had a manicure or pedicure. A lady came and took my daughter back and I let her know it was for my daughter’s birthday and that this is her first time. She told me to come back in 45 minutes. Upon returning my daughter was done but her girlfriend was still getting worked on, 25 minutes later they both walked out and I went to pay. I was expecting to pay $ 70 and was surprised to get a bill of $ 107!!! I asked why so much and was told that they both got French manicures on their toes and a couple nail designs. At no point did the ladies doing their feet let them know it was going to cost more money for a French manicure and designs on their nails. I let the ladies know several times this was our first time coming there not to mention when you sign in you mark it’s your first visit. No where on an paper does it say it costs more for a French manicure. I was shocked by the amount and outraged that it was never discussed that this would cost more. I will not be going back here. I feel I got ripped off and my daughter said she felt rushed. Poor business ethics!

I usually enjoy this place but I am extremely disappointed in my recent visit for my nieces birthday. When I was having our toes dried at the dryers the lady that did my nails told me we couldn’t put our shoes on for one hour. I knew I could put mine on because they were very dry and I do it all the time. she then threw her hands in the air and stormed into the break room where I could hear her talking crap and even had the other girls come out and see me put my shoes on and shake their heads at me and say whatever it’s her choice to ruin her nails. never going again. they just lost two customers.

In the past, I’ve had a couple bad experiences here. Since then, I’ve had a few good ones. They get stressed out about large groups but can handle up to three okay. Although I would still not recommend them for important events no matter how small your group is. We had quick and professional service the last time I was here. Yes, a bit over priced but I like seeing them clean the chairs and baths thoroughly each time.

I really want to like this place. It seems clean and it is very nice inside. They store your tools and only use them on you, and they have about 16 pedicure chairs all with massagers and they also have TVs to keep you occupied. And they have a ‘menu’ for the mani/​pedis, so you can see what is included in each package, how much it costs and how long it will take. However, after that, they fall apart. They say walk-​ins are welcome… good luck with that. I usually have to wait for my appointments. And if you get a manicure and pedicure, they always seem to do the manicure first… while you are sitting in the pedicure chair. It is awkward and uncomfortable. Maybe that is why the manicures are always awful and I have to go home and redo them myself. I find that their pedicures are decent, but if you get one along with a manicure, you toes don’t have long to dry before putting your shoes on to leave.
It is almost like the management here has never had a manicure or pedicure themselves because the order in which they perform their services is weird and it is not comfortable. And there seems to be a bit of turnover and on two occasions, I have had a very visibly sick girl work on me… not fun.
All of the employees seem really nice, but something has to be done because I have heard these same complaints from a lot of different people from other LUV locations as well. I am not sure how they are able to stay in business.

I wish I could write the review for LUV that I would have written a few years ago when they first opened. I love LUV, or I used to… now it just bums me out.
I can’t say I’ve had the experiences that some of the other reviews have… most of my pedicures have been great and I’ve gotten lucky as a walk-​in that all the girls I’ve worked with have been very nice and accommodating. Their desk staff has always been a bit snobby and elitist, but I typically ignore them and that takes care of that issue. Otherwise, I can’t complain about the service for the most part. The décor is nice and their polish selection is great — — and it is nice to know that their chairs are always clean.
My major issues come to this: I don’t schedule appointments for pedicures. I decide I want one and I meander in. I don’t know when it flipped, but I used to be able to walk in no problems. Now, that’s a near impossibility. I guess i have to give credit where credit is due and if they’re that successful and busy then good for them… but in the process they’ve lost the walk-​in crowd almost all together. It almost makes the place more snobby and elitist. Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I’ll call and get an appointment for later, but that never works. And one of the previous reviewers was right — they’re not nice about it. Typically I just end up feeling stupid and regretting that I bothered to call.
Also, I’m almost certain that every other time the universe manages to align and the heavens shine down on me and I finally get a freaking appointment — the damn massage chair is broken. Check you’re freaking chairs, LUV, because when someone comes in looking forward to a pedi and a massage and the chair surmounts to punching you in the same spot in your lower back, it’s less than impressive.
And in all of this — the same goes for the Rochester location… equally frustrating.

I’ve been going to the LUV in Rochester even though I am living like 5 min from here. They never have appointments, and aren’t very nice about it. I’m not asking for a busy Saturday morning, I’m talking about weekday afternoons/​evenings. Not sure what that’s about, but I think I’ll spend my gas money and head over to the Rochester location.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially a wedding party. I am the bride from the review below so you can pretty much read that and understand our situation. I got acrylic nails that looked horrible! One of my thumb nails was all lumpy and uneven, even my fiancé noticed and he isn’t into nails at all! My pedi was totally ruined by the second day on our honey moon. Chipped and gross looking. By the time I left a week later 2 nails were broken and 2 others i had to file down because they were so thin the white tip was bending in.
Just a quick correction on the review below, the total was $ 223 not $ 177 and that doesn’t include tips! So not only were not one of us happy with our nails, it was extremely pricey!

I paid a visit to this establishment recently with two friends. We were headed on vacation shortly thereafter so were quite excited to get mani/​pedis to get ourselves sandal ready. I figured this would be a great place to go since all they do is nail care and a bit of waxing.
The salon itself is very nice. There is a nice place to sit and wait (if need be). Check-​in was rather impersonal involving signing myself in on a computer after informing them of my presence. Essentially, I was doing their data entry.
I only waited a few minutes before I was greeted by the woman who was to do my nails. She didn’t introduce herself and instructed me to take a seat. Only one of the 3 of us learned the name of the person who was to take care of us. None of us were offered water or any other type of refreshment which is something that I thought was standard (perhaps I’m wrong.) The woman who did my nails wasn’t very friendly and actually quite adversarial. She seemed generally disinterested in what she was doing and annoyed to boot. All of that aside, the manicure and pedicure were both just okay which means that I probably could have done a better job on my own at home. The basic manicure was pointless and took all of 10 minutes. Two of the three of us had similar opinions of the service. The third had such a contrasting experience that the only way I’d ever visit here again was if I was able to make an appointment with the girl who helped her (and without her I would only have given one star.) There was also clear animosity between some of the staff which made for an uncomfortable moment or two.
I wouldn’t really recommend this place. Being that they specialize in nails they should be really great at it. I might return for the highest level pedicure because it is reasonably priced and that is the service my friend who was satisfied chose but probably not for anything else.

Called to schedule an appt for a pedi. Opted to try the Whole Luv Pedi which states it takes approx 45 minutes… unfortunately that also includes drying time of your nails!!! The water used to soak my feet was chilly and the pedi was over with before I knew it began! I didn’t find the staff to be very friendly I was NEVER introduced (isn’t that customer service 101??). I won’t be back here and definitely wouldn’t recommend to a friend.

LUV Nails is in the top 5 for Best Manicure and Pedicure in the Detroit area. They are excellent as far as service at a reasonable price. The salon is clean and professional and they offer the luvi-​cal where you can buy your own pedicure set so they use only your set when you come for your appointment. (The money they raise is donated to breast cancer research) I usually see Trinetta, who does an excellent job! Enjoy!

This is my first review, and my experiences at Luv were that bad, that I needed to share. I have been there numerous times and the ONLY reason I kept going back was because of the nail technician. From the review I read about the other location, they have the same problems. This review is going to be long… but it’s true.
First, yes they are American owned and because of that they feel that they can treat their clients any way they choose, and they do. You need to make an appointment, they don’t accept walk-​ins. However, if you make the appointment and are a little late (less than 10 minutes) they will cancel your appointment.
I get it, they are busy and you should be prompt. I don’t understand though that if you are early for your appointment they can make you sit in the lobby for 45 minutes past your the start of your appointment time, and don’t bother to tell you what is going on.
Second, the front desk girls talk about clients in front of other clients. On the day I waited 45 minutes for my appointment, I had my friend with me. When I was finally called back, the girls at the front desk made rude comments about me in front of my friend. She only stopped when a co-​worker informed her we were together.
Third, if you do go there and find a technician you like, you CAN request her. The next time you’re there it is unlikely you will get her. I requested the same person every time and rarely got her. When I went in, it was either her scheduled day off, she had no idea I had requested her, or they put my appointment done with someone else.
Also a full set is $ 39 and a fill-​in is $ 31 last time I was there.
On a positive note: The technicians at LUV do a good quality job, and are very nice. So for the Unilocalers looking to pamper themselves, beware.
