History

Established in 2002.

Owner Pamela Butler Channel grew up in a tiny Midwest town where not a lot of thought was given to the adornment of a home. She set out to change that by rearranging her room a lot (much to her mother’s dismay) and learning every needle craft she could to create a ridiculous number of pillows, quilts and artwork for her walls. By the time she was 8, she was creating the window displays in her grandfather’s antique store — and it was clear that all hope was lost.

Art & Design School was next, followed by graduate work in creative writing and the study of Shakespearean literature (really?). After marrying the man of her dreams (and best friend of many years), they moved to Wisconsin where, after trying to settle down and have a real job with benefits as a creative writer, she opened Nest in 2002.

She shares her life with her husband (owner of Dovetail Woodworking, with whom she collaborates on many design projects), two terrific daughters, a dog and two cats on their acreage.
