Old Shawnee Pizza & Italian Kitchen

It’s not that they can’t give you attentive service, they just have their way of waiting on you. Definitely not a place for Needy Nellies and Special Snowflakes. The salads are old school with pizza cheese and bacon bits, the pizzas have a good choice of toppings and a crackling hot crust, the pasta servings are huge and tasty. Get over it in advance of coming here and you will make out great.

We never even ordered. Sat at a dirty table for 8 minutes. It’s a small place and all the tables were full. We stacked up the previous glasses and plates. Waited… waited…watched other people walking around looking for their server so they could get their check… we left. This was not going to go well.

My family loves Old Shawnee Pizza! Not only is the pizza amazing, but the staff is full of kind, welcoming, and fun people. Love it!!!

Horrible service! Waited 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and our table full of kids. We finally flag someone down to get our server, but instead of coming over to our table the server took the order of another group (no kids) who had just arrived. Then she proceeded to walk away without even acknowledging us.
Needless to say we left and I have no doubt in my mind that they could have cared less.

Have not been here in a few years. Stopped in for a quick lunch after leaving the post office down the road. Busy for a Wednesday after 1:00, thought the lunch crowed would be done. Grabbed a table got excellent service. Did the pizza a salad lunch combo. Salad was fast coming out, love there green house dressing. My mini pizza came out nice & hot just as I ordered it.

Marking OSP off our list of pizza places. Can’t remember when we had a good pizza from them. Went back because it is just up the road (Lenexa). Had it delivered tonight, which was a fiasco. Sent it to the wrong street, forgot the salads, and I believe they overcharged us although hard to verify since the delivery guy didn’t have an itemized receipt. And, again, the pizza was just fair. From now on, we’ll go farther for better pizza and service.

Cherry-​picking some comments from prior posts, the thin crackery crust is perfect. Those liking deep-​dish pies won’t care for it as much but I’m not looking to fill up with bread so OSP fits me just fine. I have never had an experience here where I notice grease even when ordering ‘greasy’ toppings like pepperoni or sausage.
Toppings are GENEROUS to say the least, no skimping going on here. My wife loves the salad and green dressing which I understand is SLIGHTLY modified from the pink dressing at Pizza Shoppe where this place had its roots.
I’m not a fan of gourmet pizzas so I haven’t done much experimenting (sorry, if I want chicken or BBQ I’ll go to a chicken or BBQ place); so I usually stick with the basic traditional pizza toppings. They have a very wide range of specialty options which if delivered the same way as their more traditional styles will please gourmet lovers.
There are mixed service reviews here like you would expect from any restaurant but we haven’t ever had any issues. Décor and restaurant layout is unique and quaint and definitely not cookie-​cutter, which adds to its charm. Prices are a bit high but they do have online coupons to help out and as mentioned before you definitely get what your order in terms of toppings. Where I could eat 4 – 5 slices at most places in one sitting, I am usually completely satisfied here with 2. So if you’re like me and love cold pizza for breakfast, there’s another reason to come here!

Everything from our eggs in the salad, to the sauce on the pizza, to the carbon in the drinks was perfect! But don’t ask for service.
Our experience, we sat downstairs so that our party of 4 adults and 2 toddlers could sit together vs being in two booths upstairs. Our waitress was awesome at getting over to us to grab our drink order and come back with drinks to get our food order. We got our salad finished it, then the food, the usual Meat Locker was as expected and the Zarda met expectations for all of us. My husband usually drinks about 2 – 3 cups of pop while we are out to eat. Once we started eating there wasn’t a waiter or waitress to be found (the entire downstairs was full). We finished eating the amount we were going to eat and waitress brought the check asked if we needed anything. I told her drinks would have been nice and she went to get a pitcher of Dr. Pepper because that’s what the 4 adults were drinking and when she came back she did not even try to fill the cups (everyone’s was empty) she set the pitcher on the table and walked off. By that point it was pointless to even bring the pitcher because we were done eating. With half a pizza left and all of us full she did not stick around for us to ask for a box nor did she offer to bring one. By the way the salad plates and bowls that were finished before the pizza were still on the table; when we went to leave; there was a group of employees standing around the register chatting.

My husband and I tried Old Shawnee Pizza for the first time over the weekend and it is fantastic! We started with house salads with green dressing, which is very tasty. We shared a simple hamburger/​pepperoni pizza with the 3 cheese combination. The ration between toppings vs sauce was perfect. The staff were cordial and the service was excellent!

Pizza is awesome! Takes a minute but totally worth it.

Absolutely love this place! I’ve been going here ever since it was called Pizza Shoppe. The staff is always friendly and the pizza may very well be the BEST in town. Their thin crust is delicious! I’ve never been disappointed with this place! I heard they are now delivering although I have not tried yet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place if you have never had it!!! If you’ve had it and didn’t like your first experience, try it again! Believe me, it’s worth it!!!

I always enjoy coming here! The pizza is the best because they use quality ingredients. Service is awesome and friendly. I typically order the fixins pizza. Yummy! They offer lunch specials and have a punch card where when you buy 9 lunch specials, the 10^th one is free. If ever in Shawnee and are in the mood for great pizza… come here! You won’t be disappointed.

Once again I want to state my experience with this restaurant. The food like always is amazing (see photos) HOWEVER, the staff here sucks! Our watress is wearing pants WAY to small for her, she has hit me in the back of the head twice now while passing by. There is some guy in the kitchen area singing off tune and is yelling at the tv.
We ran out of drinks 2 times in 30 minutes. I keep having to ask for napkins because she only brings me two. We have a large party of people… come on Old Shawnee Pizza, get it together.

Some of the best pizza in the KC metro! Sizes small to biggin. Thin cracker crust and just about any toppings you can imagine! (There are about 50. Maybe more!) They also have many different kinds of sauces & cheeses to pick from as well. There are about 20 speciality pizzas to select from.
Besides the pizza, they also have several salads (be sure to get it with the house green dressing!) sandwiches, pastas & wings! They also have some great appetizers including cheesy bread, OSP dip & bread sticks. Good desserts too! If you like a drink they also have a few.

I love there thin crust pizza it reminds me of round table in California. It’s a nice and relaxing place. If you come here with friends get the biggin everyone can get there own quarter.

The lunch special here is very good and affordable. I always get the mini farmers market pizza. The salads are good, but they aren’t «healthy» by any means. Loaded with cheese and bacon bits, then add the dressing — which is a mayo base, and you get a salad that hubs will eat! I still like it though, it’s usually a cheat meal for me. The toppings are fresh and yummy and the waitstaff is very friendly. Highly recommended for the shawnee area!

Seriously though, most folks won’t be disappointed with this place. Well worth the money you’ll spend.

Still love having the neighborhood pizza place as a gluten free option for family members, but it is expensive in my opinion.
I was impressed by how well ALL the employees worked together to take care of the customers. If there was an empty plate, it was picked up, even if it wasn’t their table. Meals were brought out immediately, instead of waiting until your specific server was available.
The pizza wasn’t my favorite, and the prices definitely weren’t, but it might work for others.
OH, scope out the booth before you sit down. One in particular on our visit was NARROW on one side even for Olive Oyl, while the other side would have fit Bluto and a half!

Old Shawnee Pizza has been around for 43 years. They must’ve done something right in the last 43 years, but I wasn’t very impressed. I’m all about spending local and not giving my money away to the big guys. The pizza crust here is good and is very comparable to what you would find in Northern NJ. The sauce, cheese, and ingredients on the other hand failed. The sauce tasted generic and the ingredients weren’t fresh.
I’m glad I had take out, as other Unilocalers are not too impressed with the service (I can understand why, as 4 wait staffs were just standing around chatting when I entered). It might be time for the owner to take charge of the staff, before this place makes it on Restaurant Impossible. Bad food and good service is tolerable, Bad service and good food isn’t.
If you like local Shawnee pizza, I suggest checking out Pizza West. Great service, great sauce, and fresh ingredients.

Bad, bad service drives me crazy. After this visit, I was ready to get committed. The waitperson disappeared for most of the evening and blamed upstairs people for the salad I ordered not getting to the table. Please, admit you forgot rather than blaming others.
Why 3 stars? Even though this night the service was ridiculous, the food was really good. The toasted ravioli was tasty as was the meatball sandwich I sampled from my hubby’s plate. Those items, the drink specials and the awesome live music made this visit 3 stars.
I look forward to going back but I will sit at the bar. The bartender was incredibly nice and also waited on us… with a smile.
