Upon having to move across the country I reached out to some friends of mine for their recommendations for out of state movers and when one of my close friends came to recommend Coleman I was glad to hear that one of the largest moves did his move so I obviously called to schedule a quote. The team was delightful and helpful when they initially did the estimate, and though they were around $ 375 dollars more expensive than the nearest competitor I believed that their background, history, and record for customer service I made the right choice for my move. But oh was I wrong when we started the day of the move. Due to the fact of an bad driver not knowing how to get into my neighborhood, for some odd reason his«GPS» decided to take him to a side street in a 18 wheeler(yeah definitely a smart move), he proceeded to knock over a Stop Sign, and because of his shake up did not feel comfortable with moving his van into my neighborhood. Mind you, only 4 months previously did I have another 18 wheeler move my stuff into this place as well as had a neighbor just move out with the same sized vehicle. None the less I thought I was not to be discouraged, since I thought it was just a bad quoting of the vehicle that should have been caught during the walk through. Mind you they do a great job of inventorying and estimating the weight of your goods. That said, you would expect them to map out a route knowing the size of their normal vehicles right? Wrong again… This is where things took a turn for the worst. Because a new van needed to be sent out I was being charged an additional 18.5% of my TOTAL move because of one van mover’s lack of confidence that he could make the turn onto my one way street. Because of this the additional charge was $ 425, a 18.5% increase in price. Honestly, I don’t care for the money really but an 18.5% increase from an original estimate is unheard of. I understand the need to get another vehicle, but for God sake, you had a estimator come to my neighborhood and go over all the paperwork and you are a logistical company I would at least expect you to be able to figure out what kind of vehicle can fit or cannot fit into my area. Again if I’m paying you out of pocket almost $ 3,000, you would expect these kind of these to be accounted for. So I coughed up the additional fee, but then after all this ordeal I was not given any detailed information on when my furniture would arrive after I was told by the previous driver that my stuff would arrive at a certain date. After lack of follow up with the dispatcher, I finally got an answer that my stuff would arrive 5 days later that was originally provided. That said this was all correspondence that was initiated by ME the customer. Despite their jargon when your put on hold and despite their size of a company, I WOULDNOT recommend this company to any persons trying to move based on the level of customer service I have had. I’ve called 3 times to escalate my ordeal to the general manager and with a lack of response(after waiting 5 full business days) and the fact that I have no privy to the status of my move or details, I am seriously disappointed with the almost $ 3,000 that I had to spend for a company that failed to provide in any way resemblance of customer service. This has made my move quite a difficult one especially for one starting a new job after relocation. I again cannot in all honesty recommend this company or its staff to any person that is needing to move. I’m so disappointed despite their awards and reviews, that it was a bunch of marketing fluff.
