Bacchus & Barleycorn is your one stop shop for home wine, beer, cider, mead and cheese making. We have the expertise to assist you with fermentation questions, recipe formulation, fermentation techniques and troubleshooting.

We have 1 and 5 gallon brewers starter kits. Bacchus Batches are in-​house formulated recipe kits. We weigh grains to order for extract or all grain brewers with about 45 varieties from which to choose and mill if you like. You don’t have to buy a full pound except flaked grains. You can purchase any quantity from 1 oz. to a full bag. The alpha acid for a our more than 30 hop varieties is on the label. Our Wyeast is always fresh.

Making wine, cider or mead? As well as 1, 5 & 6 gallon equipment starter kits, we have Winexpert kits, grape concentrates, fruit bases, cider kits, local honey, a variety of oak and toast levels, fining agents, chemicals and more.

Cheese starter kits, cultures, white molds, mold ripening wrap, cheese wax, rennet, cheese press, curd scoop, wax, tiny cheese measuring spoons, strainer and more are all available here.

Ready for kegging? We can get you set up to keg your homebrew or help you convert a fridge.

History

Established in 1968.

We’ve owned Bacchus & Barleycorn. Ltd for over 30 years. Originally a Wine Art Kansas franchise in Mission, which was changed to Bacchus & Barleycorn, Ltd in 1980. As our business continued to grow, so did our knowledge base. We filled our heads with information to share with our customers and needed space in which to do it. So, we’re now at our 3rd and permanent location.

We’ve been active in the home fermentation community since before owning Bacchus & Barleycorn. We have a passion for home fermentation and enjoy sharing our passion with other home fermenters hobbyists and potential home fermenters. Always looking for a new fermentation to explore. First it was beer and wine, followed by mead, then cider and cheese. We’re founding members of the Kansas City Bier Meisters, National Beer Judges, local and nation competition organizers, award winning brewers and vintners, national conference chair, recipient of the AHA Recognition Award, developer of the 1st IBU formula published (Rager Foumula).
