I bought my dress for my March wedding from Wedded Bliss. The dress was within our budget($ 900‑1500). I’d read in magazines that I would have to pay hundreds of dollars on top of the dress cost to get alterations done. At Wedded Bliss, all of the alterations, the veil, a corset bra and the dress were still within the original budget! I couldn’t believe it! We saved so much money on the dress alterations and accessories that we were able to add in a photo booth to our reception :) Mary is just wonderful to work with. During the stress of wedding planning, working with her has been one of the best experiences. She always made time for me, no matter how many times I came in for alterations, and the appointments were always private(just me and my family or bridal party in the store — so nice to have that privacy!). And the alterations made the already gorgeous dress even more beautiful, and so flattering on me. The alterations were done really quickly, and the dress looks just perfect. And Mary is letting me leave the dress at the store until I leave for the wedding. That was a big relief for me because I don’t want my fiancé to see it, and I didn’t want anything to happen to it between now and the wedding. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Wedded Bliss and about Mary — she has been kind, patient and thoughtful throughout the entire process, and it’s obvious that she’s good at what she does.

I had no idea I was so into weddings until my oldest sister got engaged. And then I became a MANIAC, I swear I didn’t recognize myself. Suddenly, I had an opinion about everything — but most of all the dress, either it was too sequined or too plain, tacky or boring — I was really picky about things I had always just assumed I would never even care about. Wedded Bliss was one of the first wedding dress shops we visited, my mother, my sister, and myself. By appointment, we were treated like the only ones in the shop(if you just stop by and look around, they won’t give you the time of day — it’s all about appointments here.) There was one woman working with us, the only one in the store — and she gave us all of her time until we left, which was reassuring. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and having an attentive dress-fitter is important, and that she was. But attention from the staff wasn’t the problem, it was their selection. I was super disappointed to find only three dresses to consider out a rack of hundreds of white to off-white, silk, taffeta, chiffon dresses. Only three — the only ones without cheap glitter adornments and bells and whistles sewn on. The three we picked out were beautiful on her, but they none of them were ‘the one.’ Wedding dress fitting has to undergo a series of at least two tests: the first is the off-the-rack test where you have to ask: does this look good off the rack(and as I wrote before, only three of them passed this test.) The second test is ‘the one’ test, only the bride can determine the results of this one(to my dismay — at the time I wanted to put a few on myself). None of them passed both tests, but I could have predicted this within two minutes of looking though their back closet options. The front of the store only features bridesmaids and flower-girl and mother-of-the-bride dresses, but the wedding dresses are in the back and can only be seen through appointment(and maybe also because women might not even bother making the appointment once they see the poor selection). I won’t be going back for my wedding dress fittings, but it’s Johnson County, wedding boutiques are as in-style as SUV’s and soccer moms — I have a feeling they’ll be doing business for a LONG time.
