I do not recommend the crab rangoon or the lo mein. Not good.

It pains me to do this, but after repeated visits to Sang Sang I’m officially done. We ordered our«usual» on Tuesday night, which included the chicken salad, ginger chicken, lemongrass shrimp and the coconut curry chicken(along with egg rolls). The service as always is excellent, but I had to actually return half of our order because it was inedible. The shrimp didn’t taste right and the chicken in our salad wasn’t fully cooked(that was actually the third time this has happened — think we should have known better). Plus the egg rolls weren’t fully cooked. The other two entrees were fine but not enjoyed as much as they should have been. They were very busy and it appeared as though they hired some new people in the kitchen(yes, I went enough that I recognized the people who worked there). They refunded my money, but no apologies for the inedible food. When the food is good there, it’s excellent, but it’s not worth the risk for me anymore.

My favorite Chinese place the two guys that work there are so kind. I am a regular there and they even remember me. Lol the prices are reasonable and the portions are good. I wish they did deliver though. The food is made fresh and always hot. I always suggest calling ahead for your order! You won’t regret it!

After reading the reviews, I have to try it myself. It’s cheap and the serving is plenty. It’s one of the places where you get the most value for your money, a rarity now a days. Food doesn’t taste like a typical Chinese food. Flavor is well balance. I hope it stays this way.

If you want to underpay for great fresh Chinese Food then this is the place for you. They could justify charging 1 and a half times what they’re charging for the portions and goodness of this stuff. Do you like drive-thru? Duh. This place has drive-thru freaking good Chinese. Gotta try it.

The prices are low and the food is excellent compared to similar Chinese restaurants. As other reviewers have noted, this is a place you’ll want to add to your restaurant rotation. Do be aware that the drive thru is not very quick(but the food will be fresh). You might want to call it in ahead of time if you are in a hurry.

I live in Downtown KC and have been deprived of good Chinese food. I’ve tried all the restaurants nearby and all of them are way too greasy, generic, and just not satisfying. Sang Sang reminds me of my favorite Chinese restaurant in my hometown. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious. It’s also crazy cheap and fulfilling. I ordered three different entrees all for $ 19 total including rice. They give you great portions and I love having Chinese leftovers for next day! This will be my go-to spot even though it’s pretty far away from me, it’s worth it :)

Not too bad! 4.5 stars are hard to come by nowadays so, I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Is this place really that good?! My experience was very consistent with the reviews. The restaurant was clean, food was great and customer service was on point. Their prices are very reasonable too! I played it safe and ordered shrimp fried rice, although I prefer the St. Louis version(no veggies), I must admit, it was pretty good. My husband ordered the chicken fried rice and he thought it was so so. He’s hard to please when it comes to Chinese food. Being from STL he said that we just can’t get it right in KC lol. Anyways, we both thought the filling in the Crab Rangoon was a little salty but, overall, they were still edible although we wasted half the order. We’ll add this to our take out rotation. Oh, they have a drive through too. Good idea!

Sang sang is an adorable Chinese restaurant that is now permanently in my weekly lunch rotation. I asked the waiter for a recommendation. He asked me if I was feeling adventurous and then recommended the coconut curry chicken. The dish was delicious with just the right amount of an adventurous edge. The egg drop soup is also spot on. Sang sang is cheap, friendly, and tasty. What more can you ask for?

What can I say that hasn’t already been said by others? Nothing really, I’ve read all of the 5-star reviews and don’t disagree with any of them. I’ve been here 5 – 6 times and it has been consistently fast, cheap, and most importantly hot, fresh, and delicious. Plenty of other reviews have already covered those attributes though, so I’d like to take a different approach and ask a question. Have you ever gone through a drive-thru and seriously considered taking another lap around the building to give them more money? I’m not joking. I would also like to offer a tip. If you want to be able to taste your meal, resist the urge to sample any part of it immediately upon receipt… it will burn your mouth. How many«fast food» places can you say that about?

Shawnee needed a great Chinese restaurant. Sang Sang next to the Waffle House on 75th Street and Nieman Rd is not fancy or pricey. The food is amazing and the prices are very affordable. Plus, the portion sizes are generous. An example of the affordability is my purchase today. Six crab ragoon and beef Lo Mein(enough for two servings) cost $ 11.10. Sang Sang has a bit of a hole-in-the-wall feel. Although, the owner and minimal staff are nice and the place is clean. If you do not enjoy dining in this type of environment there is a drive-thru. I find myself craving their food and my ultimate goal is to try everything on the menu. Definitely try this restaurant out.

I came here today with my dad to see if all of these reviews could be true. From the outside, Sang Sang doesn’t look like much. I have to admit that I was a little doubtful even after reading all of the great reviews. Thankfully, my dad and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service. I ordered the Tofu with Vegetables(in brown sauce) which wasn’t half bad, especially considering the low price. My food was warm, but I wish the tofu could have been pan-fried and a bit hotter. The veggies were really hot on the outside, but still a little too crunchy to be cooked completely. My dad ordered chicken with green pepper and onion in the brown sauce as well. This technically wasn’t a menu item, but the cashier was still able to whip it up for him, which was nice. We both liked the sauce, it has a hint of sweetness to it that’s a little different. My main complaint was the bathroom. It was scary in there and could definitely use a good scrubbing down with some bleach! Overall, though we were both happy and will probably return again. I still need to try those tofu spring rolls and vegetarian fried rice.

Sang Sang is my go to when I cannot easily choose a place to find food. I was thoroughly amazed the first time I tasted a piece of chicken from here and still amazed during each visit. To get straight to the point: I absolutely love their Chicken Vermicelli dish. I would never share it because I am too greedy to let a single morsel out of my mouth. The chicken is seasoned and cooked to perfection. It has a salty and charred taste like it was cooked out on a barbecue grill. The fish sauce along with the vermicelli noodles is just a bonus. Other dishes I have tasted are their chicken brocolli, chicken fried rice, and lo mein. All are pretty great as well. What is even better are their prices. The portions are huge with two heaping scoops of rice and overflowing entrée on the other(see pictures!). Their chicken fried rice is also only $ 3.99! Nothing is over $ 10. Although I did find it weird for a Chinese restaurant to have a drive-thru, it is a nice touch for lazy folks. I would rather wait inside then let my car run as the wait will not be any quicker going through the drive-thru. The old man who takes the orders is super friendly and even helps cook the food as well. Go down to Shawnee and try Sang Sang Asian Express. It may not look like much on the outside, but it’s definitely something your taste buds will thank you for! You will not regret it! Well… maybe you might regret it if and when the lbs go up…

This restaurant serves only top quality, freshly prepared food. It is amazingly delicious and way better than you might expect based on the outside appearance. It isn’t somewhere you would want to take a hot date to, but the food is great and cheap! An additional note — the food, while salty, is not anywhere near as salty as other Chinese food. I have severe health problems and am very salt sensitive, but I can eat Sang Sang with no issues! It is not only more delicious this way, it is also healthier.

This place surprised the crap outta me! My partner and I were literally just wanting some fast Chinese food to eat and go, but as soon as we had our first bites, we were blindsided on how unbelievably good this fast food joint was. He got the Vegetarian Tofu Chop Suey. It was great! The brown sauce that it was in was seasoned well. There were plenty of Asian veggies that we both loved, such as bamboo, water chestnuts, and was just filled to the brim with veggies. However…the winner of getting the better food was… ME! I got the Chicken and Brocolli, which I was expecting to be your run of the mill Chinese staple… but boy was the white sauce that it was in packed so much flavor! Ugh I can’t stop gushing about how good that dish was. Brocolli was cooked well, not too mushy and not undercooked. The chicken was tender seasoned well and being in that sauce just made them even better. For filling their to go styrofoam boxes to the brim and charging only around $ 6, made for an absolute steal of a deal! Will definitely be coming back here. Move over Panda Express, Sang Sang just blew you outta the water for having the best Chinese Drive Thru food for me! It may not be as fast as Mcdonalds(Sang Sang got two entrée meals out in about 5min), but I’d gladly wait the extra minutes to get some quality and fresh Chinese cuisine. P. S. These entrees can easily be shared with two people. I had to take a break to finish mine, because of how much food they give you! Perfect for lunch dates! :) Happy Eating!
