Trammel Fossil Park

This is a fairly atypical park, in that as far as I can see it’s just a big hill with rocks on it. So what’s so special? They’re fossils, silly! That’s right, you just need to stoop down, pick up a rock and bam, there’s the imprint of a shell or plant. I didn’t think it’d be so easy to locate fossils, but it is… AND you can take them home with you! It’s so hard to find natural landscape for my son to play in/​with, so I was all for the Fossil Park. He may not have understood my convoluted explanation for what exactly is a fossil, but he sure had a good time exploring, getting dirty, running, jumping, playing with rocks, playing with sticks, etc. The park doesn’t really have facilities. I did see a porta-​potty and hand washing station. Bring a bucket to carry home your treasures!
