Edsel G. Tattooer’s Bio

I began tattooing in about 1991 when my sister, Lucky Linda, started tattooing out of the back room of a hair salon owned by my mother in Shakopee Minn. Lucky Linda was getting swamped with tattoo work and needed help.

At some point in our conversation, I remember her saying, «You can draw. Why don’t you come and do tattoos with me?» My general reaction was, «Tattoos? I don’t want to do skulls all day.» I had no idea what tattoos were all about. I just recalled seeing lots of mangled scratcher tattoos. I didn’t want to produce, or have any part of, that kind of art. Meanwhile, I was struggling to keep the rent paid and was looking for a job. I was a 20-​something with no direction. So I agreed, begrudgingly.

For awhile at first, I struggled to learn as much as I could on my own about tattooing. Then, I was lucky enough to be able to work with Mike Malone and learned a lot from him about tattooing. I fell in love with the craft. Mike, aka «Rollo,» taught me how
