Shaker Regency Apartments

I lived here. Leaking roof and MOLD. Very poor maintenance. Several complaints/​lawsuits have been lodged against the owner and after living there I understand why. Maintenance issues beyond minor fixes are not only unaddressed but he is extremely rude. I am one of the many residents who had a leaking roof and was given excuse after excuse about why it was not fixed. In addition to the multiple leaks in the roof, mold started growing in many places in the apartment. Rather than address it, he became very belligerent. Initially he puts a paint job over the leaks so its not visible when you tour the apartment and after a couple of rain storms when it rains outside it will rain inside too. Please beware. When you search this property or the owner Alan Pearlman, you will see many complaints and my experience was unfortunately no different. Notorious for not returning security deposits and poor maintenance see other reviews and check court records. I recommend checking your facts to avoid having the experience, I and many of the tenants had. We trusted the owner which was our biggest mistake.. Over the past 8 years, I have lived in several apartments in the Cleveland area, and none of them came close to the Shaker Regency. From Alan (the owner) to the maintenance crew they were all exceptionally nice and caring. When I needed something repaired (which was rare), it got done within one 48 hours. The apartment was clean and quiet; the building was very well maintained. And like I said, the staff is fabulous. I got married and bought a house. Otherwise I would still be living there.

I am one of the former tenants of Shaker Heights Regency Apartments. It has been three years and the security deposit has not been returned. When my wife called about it, she was yelled at and was quoted issues with economy, I don’t have money, etc. Lets get this straight — I’m not a person who damaged the apartment and left. I am a tenant who didn’t get an itemized list, didn’t get a reply. Was basically told by lawyers that your screwed.. .even if you sue — you won’t get your deposit back (google search will show times where the law found against him and he just ignored it).
So stay here at your own risk. You shouldn’t stay somewhere where there someone will take advantage of you because they know the law is weak.
