Jennifer and Melvin’s goats are the happiest farm animals I’ve ever seen. Not surprisingly, their cheeses and milk are amazing!(We haven’t tried their goat milk soap yet.) Aside from the goats, chickens and roosters are happily spending their time in the calm pure land of their farmers. We noticed that some of them apparently would also like to occupy their humans’ houses if they could. Thank you Jennifer and Melvin, for all the wonderful work you do — your efforts and love towards your animals are showing not only in your very happy, fearless, and social animals, but also in your products. Thank you!

Called ahead for an early morning visit — they were more than accommodating. And let’s face it, they’re not in the business of giving tours to nosey out-of-towners. Jennifer walked us around and let us play with the kids(who were all playful and happy to chew on our clothing). She gave us the rundown of their operation, the history of the farm and even offered to let us take a long walk in their giant property(goes about a mile back from the road). We declined but felt welcome. They had just been cleared out of milk and other products by their sales guy(who’d hit the road to deliver product), but we nabbed a few delicious chocolate milks. If you’re in the area, this is worth a stop. Goats are the oldest domesticated animals in the world, and it shows in their comfort around new humans. Could have stayed and played with those kids all day. Just be sure if you do stop by for a visit to buy some product. Again, their giving you a tour isn’t a public service. They make their living on dairy sales, not satisfying curiosity for a few passers-by. Make it worth their while.

We called up the farm to ask if we could visit. Out of the 5 goat farms we called, Polymeadows Farm was the only one who answered(and nobody else called back!), so we went there, knowing nothing about the farm. When we got there, Jennifer was very friendly and informative about their farm and their goats. Then she took us to meet the goats! The baby goats were stunningly sweet and friendly! The adult goats were stunningly sweet and friendly! We couldn’t believe how affectionate they were! They loved petting and attention! We loved them! If only we could have pet goats in our 3rd floor Boston condo. The chocolate goat milk is rich and not too sweet or goopy. The yogurt is tangy and flavorful. The feta was creamy and delicious. The chevre was a little milder than I like, but had a lovely smooth texture. Jennifer couldn’t have been nicer(even sharing some frozen yogurt with chevre and raspberries she had made that tasted just like cheesecake). Warning: Wear old clothes. Be prepared to shower afterward as you will be covered in goat spit. They like to lick. And pull zippers up and down and up and down. And yet you will love them anyway!
