Rainforest Adventures

I’m glad we came to Rainforest Adventures despite some of the reviews on here.
I don’t really know what people were expecting when they were caught off guard by the ‘Bad Smell’ — It smells like a zoo, and it’s mostly indoors, perhaps they were looking for a Yankee Candle shop instead of a zoo? Anyhow, we came with 2 children under 2, and it was perfect — Not terribly crowded so you could actually get up close to the enclosures and actually see the animals. I don’t know if we just had fortunate timing around 11am, but it seemed all of the animals were very active, and the kids loved watching the monkey’s playing. While it was rather cold the morning we were there we did still get to see the outdoor animals and the little ones loved feeding the Goats and Sheep. Overall it was a great, affordable experience and the kids loved it which is all that really matters. I’d recommend it to anyone with young children in a heartbeat.

Very cute place with lots of animals. For for all ages! The baby pigs were the cutest part of the whole thing. Loved all the lemurs and crazy monkeys everywhere! Great attraction for such a cheap low price! Spent almost 2 hours wandering around looking at the animals.

Poor treatment of animals. Bad smell… Lots of unhappy guests!

When my family and I entered, we noticed a bad smell. The animals seemed to be in distress. The cages were dirty, and there were a lot of insects in them. Many animals were not in their cages, or else laying around as if they didn’t have any will to live. The bathrooms were gross, and the staff was rude. I contacted PETA about the deplorable conditions the animals were living in.

Good fun for good value! My daughter loves feeding the goats and sheep! They also have shows where you can pet many of the other animals. I’m not sure why everyone is complaining about the smell. I would not expect an indoor zoo to smell like roses! Lol

We have visited the Rain Forest several time and each time we thoroughly enjoy it.
The admission price is reasonable enough that it does not break the family bank., gift items are also priced fairly. We were fortunate enough on todays visit to see their animal show at 1:00 p.m. We were able to touch many of the animals in the show and also hold a snake and have our photos taken with it around our neck.
I feel that sometime we forget how much work and cost that it takes to keep a place like the Rainforest Adventures going. I strongly recommend that we support the Rainforest with telling as many people possible about it and encouraging them to visit.

Do Not visit this place. You will not leave with a warm fuzzy feeling. Instead you will leave with a broken heart. The conditions in which these animals are contained are awful. There were cob webs all over the cages and ceiling. Dead roaches were all over the floor. The animals don’t appear to have a special diet, it’s just whatever Kroger grocery store had on sale. Yes there were containers of fruit that were just dumped in the cages that were from Kroger. Some even had mold. The smell of urine was overwhelming when you walk in the front door, but the gift shop was really nice (sarcastic tone). It seems they take better care of the gift shop than they do the animals. Very sad place. We contacted PETA after visiting and they suggested that we post our experience on sites that a lot of people would see so other people would not visit this place. Every person who doesn’t go there is a win for the animals. All in hopes that the place will shut down and the animals can be sent to a more humane environment for them.

On arrival we noticed a bad smell but shook it off and thought it would get better. Upon entering further the animals appeared to be in much distress living in horrible conditions. At least in the wild these animals would have a better opportunity to not eat and sleep in their own feces & urine. We observed that fruit for the animals was bought and set out in their original Kroger Grocery Store containers with some having mold. As we continued I observed a roach on the floor along with many cobwebs on the inside and outside of the facility. There is truly NO EXCUSE! PLEASE DO NOT VISIT. This has really made us think about visiting facilities that have ANY animals on display. We contacted PETA however the regulations are so minimal for these types of facilities but you can help by not attending!

There is a good selection of animals to see as long as you don’t mind the smell. Avoid the bathrooms as they are not clean. Most of the animals are visible. There are some animals outside. The bird enclosure was closed when we went.

This is a cool little zoo! I was pleasantly surprised. Most of the zoo is inside. Several animals from the Amazon and other areas. They have a great 30 minute presentation with a variety of animals. I got to hold a Tarantula… eeek!
There were some awsome snakes and a huge white Cobra!
I got several great pictures there. It is a small business, not a huge corporation. It’s been in business for 10 years and doing well.
It’s great for a cool time on a hot day when you still want to do something. It’s also great for when you don’t want to spend all day at a zoo. It took us about 1 ½ — 2 hours leasurely walking through and watching the 30 minute show. Typically you walk in and exit through a touristy shop. Here, you enter and exit through the shop.
I’ve heard they had other birds and animals, but there weren’t many birds in the bird enclosure. Mostly small birds and fairly empty.
The one thing I was surprised about was the lack of water in some of the outdoor enclosures. It was fairly hot and to not have water openly available is not cool.
Over all I was impressed.

I went to this place with my 2 yr old son. We had fun until we went into the bird enclosure. My son was attacked by a peacock. The peacock left four scratches on his face (from the temple to the chin) a deep 1″ gash (that was bleeding) on his head, and two scratches on his neck. When he fell he hit the concrete and busted his lip and was bleeding. I went to the front desk to get help and other than saying I’m sorry they did nothing. I asked the lady there for something to clean the wounds and she offered me moist towelettes (yes, the kind you get at restaurants). I went in the bathroom and cleaned the wounds as best I could and my wife had some triple antibiotic which we applied. When we went back to the counter she was on the phone talking to someone explaining what happened. After talking to on the phone she explained to us that the peacock was trying to mate with the female and that’s why he attacked my son. If that’s not admitting guilt, I don’t know what it is. I told her that a peacock trying to breed should not be in an enclosure where people are going to be interacting with it. She sait it was the first time that had happened, but later she told my wife that they had had a complaint about the peacock that morning. After that we left. I kept cleaning the wound for the remaining vacation days, but it got infected and my son still has a bump in the head from the attack. We went on June 19 and it is July 12. He had to go to the doctor twice and has had two series of antibiotics. Unbelievably the treatment and lack of action /​help on the part of the staff of this place was even worse than the attack. If after this story you still decide to visit, avoid the peacock in the bird enclosure. I wish we could include pictures here.

Had a lot of different types of animals. The show they have is really cute and the kids get to pet different animals. The only part I didn’t like is that some of the animals didn’t have much room to roam. But it was a good place to take kids.
