Legacy Mountain Resort

Our water supply stopped during the stay and the maintenance guy wouldn’t show up nor the customer service have any clue. For a property that charges prices like it does, you would think water and customer service would be there at the very least. Looks like not!

We were so looking forward to this trip. We checked in (not an easy task w/​a miserable young lady) and within an hour realized our cabin was infested with roaches, they were everywhere. We packed all of our things and reloaded the car fully expecting them to move us to a different cabin or refund us. Well, they had us wait in the parking lot until 9pm when «their» maintenance person could finally make it over to confirm the roaches, I guess our word and pics weren’t enough proof. So at 10 pm with all the local hotels booked, and most cabin rental offices closed, Jamie, the supposed supervisor, who was miraculously found (we were told he was not there) got on the phone after 5 hours of requesting to speak to him, informed us, they would give us a refund. So at 10:30 pm still in the parking lot, we were finally able to locate a hotel an hour away in Knoxville. Thankfully the next day we were able to rent another place through Stony Brook, who treated us with real southern hospitality and we were able to turn our nightmare vacation around despite the awful start !! There were many little issues which we totally would have overlooked bc we were really looking forward to our week there, but the roaches put us over the edge ~ There were countless amounts of them, walking across the kitchen counters and table.

We spent half an hour trying to find our keys and our cabin. The instruction on how to check in was very unclear. We had to go pick up our codes on top of the mountains, and the door lock code they provided didn’t work, we had to wait on the phone outside of our cabin for over half an hour until someone picked up the phone.
The cabin we rented was supposed to be able to house 10 people, there were two queens bed, everyone else had to sleep in the sofa bed, the mattress of the sofa Beds were all out of shape and very uncomfortable, we all ended up just sleeping on the floor.
After we went hiking and came back on the second day, we got locked outside of the cabin, after staying on the phone waiting for half an hour, a very unfriendly lady on the phone told us that they changed the codes because we didn’t finish our check in, we asked if we could get the new door codes so we could have some of our people went inside first and the rest of us could drive to their office which is down the mountain, 20 minutes away from our cabin. They lady said no, so we had to left some of our friends sitting in the rain outside of our cabin on July fourth while the rest of us drove down the mountain. After we got to the office, we tried to stay cheerful but the lady at the office was giving us attitude and very unfriendly. She threw us the paper works and barely wanted to explain what exactly happened. Over all it’s a nice place to stay, but their customer support is very messy, the beds are uncomfortable, spider webs could be found everywhere in the cabin, Christmas decoration was still on (it’s July). Also, if that one paper work was that important, they should have put someone working at the cabins area to welcome visitors and make sure they sign the paper.
I will not suggest anybody to rent cabin from the resort. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ not recommended.

We had rented the Eagle Heaven cabin for a week. My wife and I and my son and his wife and my 6 year old granddaughter were there for what we had planned to be a wonderful fall vacation. From the time we got there we could smell at the time faint smell as though it was from the washing machine. Every time a toilet was flushed there would be bubbles that would come up in the toilets along with very strong sewer smells. Every day that went by the smell became worse. I started to open up the windows to help the situation. On the third day, the smell became so bad that I opened almost all of the windows and turned on all of the fans. Every one of us was affected physically from the gases in that cabin. From headaches to nausea the whole time we were in that cabin. The third day was the worst. We called the office and the person that I spoke with asked me to come down so that she could move us to a new cabin. For the record: she went above and beyond in her efforts to help us find a new cabin. While I and my wife were sitting at her desk looking for another cabin, she could see the effects that the gas had on my wife’s face. My wife got it the worst of all of us. She felt the effects of the gas the whole week we were there. There were some comments made concerning that particular cabin while I was at the office. It sounds like this wasn’t the first time there was an issue with this cabin. Shouldn’t there have been action taken on the management company’s part in trying to fix issues as they came up with this cabin prior to us renting it? Please, have a professional look into the gases coming from what I think is the sewer. I wouldn’t wish what we went through on anybody. I just looked up «sewer gasses» online and this is what I found.
«Sewer gas is a mixture of toxic and nontoxic gases. Toxic gases include hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. Sewer gas also contains various levels of methane, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxide. Sewer gases enter your home through drains, leaky plumbing and clogged sewer vents on the roof. Fumes come from municipal sewers, storage tanks and septic tanks. Exposure to sewer gases is dangerous and can be life threatening.»
I didn’t know it was THAT bad. No wonder we all felt the way we did. The question below this is; May we contact you about the survey? The answer I give is yes, but more importantly is to fix that problem before you rent it to anyone else.

Let me start out by saying this was my second time booking a cabin. The first time was 6 years ago, Satin Sheets cabin @ Gatlinburg Falls resort. I was very satisfied, and that is why I chose this company again.
For our 2^nd stay, we chose a 2 bdrm named Morning Breeze @ Legacy. It was after days of looking at all the cabins online that we finally chose Morning Breeze. The view looked amazing in the pics, and the hot tub view sold me. The couple we shared cabin with were on their honeymoon so wanted to see and do every touristy thing they could. But my hubby is a truck driver and I have a stressful job, so we primary wanted to enjoy the cabin, especially the hot tub.
We checked in and got settled into the cabin. The cabin was beautiful, and the view was amazing. After 10 hrs driving, we wanted to get into the hot tub and RELAX. BUT hot tub would NOT heat up. Called the office and were told someone would be out in 2−4hrs. No one ever came.
Day 2, called office in the morning to check status of maintenance call, was told a work order request would be put in (it wasn’t put in last night??) and someone would come in 2 – 4 hrs. Came back to cabin and found note on counter saying parts needed to be ordered.
Day 3
When no one showed up by noon, called office and was told no one ever put in work order for hot tub parts. Getting really ticked by this point. Was told they would refund my hot tub fee and that someone would be out in 2 – 4 hrs. After 4 hrs and no one showing,.called office again. Again told no one put a request in, but now they did and someone would be out in…2−4 hrs. Guy finaaaally shows up at 9PM and looks at tub. Motor is out, need to get one from hot tub store tomorrow.
Day 4
1Pm, no one has come to fix hot tub. Called and told, «oh, we haven’t heard from the owner of the cabin yet, and we need their approval to purchase motor’ WTF? «But please come use the heated pool at clubhouse and the sauna»
So we got suited up, went to pool, stuck toes in and it was FREEZING, not to mention really dirty. Sauna didn’t work either. Went back to cabin and I cried.
I talked this place up so much and people trusted my decision to book this cabin. I was embarrassed and disappointed. Hot tub never got fixed. Cable signal went out on 2 tvs, called 2 days in a row and no one ever came. Oh, and had to buy a bulb for the fridge.
Basically, I feel like once they have your money, and it’s A LOT, $ 1800 for 6 nights, they don’t care if guest is happy. Contract makes sure you can’t demand a refund.
I will never stay here again. There are soooo many other choices out there.

These are the best!!! We stayed for July 4^th weekend in living high cabin style. The views are amazing and mind blowing. They had pool table, hot tub and others. I definitely recommend this place. We loved it

Definitely not a place to bring big groups of college kids! Went here and rented out two cabins for about 85 people and the staff at the resort were terrible to us! Yes we are a group of college kids but that is no reason to treat us so terribly! We ended up getting evicted from out cabins at one in the morning for apparently being too noisy. The staff knew that most of us had been drinking and still would not let us sober up in the cabins, instead making us sleep in our cars in the parking lot !!!
Moral of the story: we were not informed of how strict they would be about noise complaints and feel they should have divulged this information to us beforehand when we booked! Felt like they booked us because they knew they could get money out of us!

We stayed at the Lazy Bear cabin. I have got to say that the woman on the phone who i booked it through made it seem like they were giving us a military discount and it actually was the same discount that they have on the internet. That was disappointing. We got two nights for $ 416.00.
The wait to get our cabin was ridiculous. We are staying at an expensive «mountain resort» and had to wait for about 40 minutes with no seating around for a one-​person station to complete with the other 5 couples in front of us. We felt very rushed because of the line behind us at 5:00pm. And honestly, knowing that it is a busy weekend, they should have had more guest services allowed. Staying at a cabin is not like staying at a hotel, you own that cabin and honestly don’t have time to ask questions once you’ve checked in, so asking about the surrounding areas, good restaurants etc should occur or be presented to you when you check in. That’s impossible to do when there’s about 20 people in front of you and behind you and only one customer service agent.
Checking out was ridiculous as well. The pamphlet made it sound like you would be shot on site if you did not call and follow their specific instructions to a ‘T’ before 10:00. Actually it states $ 125 will be charged if you stay past 11 or don’t call the number. THE NUMBER WILL ALWAYS BE BUSY! And when we finally drove all the way up to the clubhouse, the customer service agent didn’t even look at us and told us «we were good». WTF
The views are beautiful, the cabins are huge but honestly if there’s horrible customer service and logistical problems it ruins the name of the resort. We will not be going through that agent again.

Gorgeous views customer service is terrible flew in from PHX got in at 10 with pass code for cabin and battery was dead on door lock when I called I was told «it happens batteries die don’t make this anymore difficult» now sitting outside waiting for someone to come with no timeframe… Cheers oh and the address they give you isn’t right it’s 2 miles away

I have stayed here twice in the past two years. Here’s some things you want to know before booking a cabin here. The view of the surrounding mountains from some of the cabins is absolutely excellent, but this is not the case with all the cabins. Some cabins only allow you to view the trees beside your cabin while others leave you looking about 500 yards at a nearby hill, and nothing else. This has the possibility (if you luck up and everything else goes right) to make your trip here either quite memorable or quite a disappointment. Using Legacy’s website is the way to go when booking your trip — it is relatively easy to navigate. Don’t expect any valuable assistance if you contact Legacy by phone. When I had a question about my booking, I called Legacy. Christy answered the phone but she was unable to answer any of my questions, nor could she determine the amount of the discount they were offering at that time. When I tried to book my cabin with her, she refused to assist me, and instead told me to return to the website to book the room. She then asked me if there was «anything else she could help me with». That was very amusing. Upon arrival at our cabin we found the carpet in the lower floor game room to be disgustingly dirty. Any movement in this area quickly left your feet or socks black. I did not contact the office with this issue because I knew from past experience that such a call does no good whatsoever. We also discovered a pigeon had made a home under the overhang of our entrance, and had left HUGE amounts of excrement on the porch and handrail. I would be glad to share a photo of this with you but it’s just too disgusting to display. For this problem, I decided to contact Legacy. On the coffee table in our living room was a prominently displayed letter from Legacy’s general manager Jeff Glaspy, welcoming us to the cabin and encouraging us to contact him directly by e-​mail if we encountered problems. His letter assured readers that he «actively monitors all e-​mails». On day one I sent Jeff a courteous e-​mail, with photo attached, showing him the problem involving the pigeon. I never heard anything from him. I found that sad but a little amusing considering the track record Legacy has for fixing problems encountered by guests. Our cabin also had a build-​up of cobwebs and little piles of dead houseflys along the wall and windows in the living room — something that would have been quite obvious to any housekeeping person. And speaking of housekeeping, our cabin contained renters who checked out the same day we arrived. This would have assured housekeeping personnel were present in our cabin just hours prior to our arrival. Aside from the items mentioned above, the remainder of our visit to this cabin was somewhat OK. Under normal circumstances I would have rated this visit higher. But with Legacy management routinely looking the other way when guests express normal concerns, they get the lowest rating from me this time.
Days after I returned home from my visit, I got an e-​mail from Legacy asking me to complete a customer satisfaction survey of my visit. I gladly completed the survey and asked to be contacted by Legacy. No call back yet.
This location is also operated under two other names, neither is called Legacy Mountain Resort. I have received literature from all three companies, and they are all the same place. I’m not sure why they do this.
Each cabin has a name and number. Legacy lists them by name — ASK for the lot number. The following cabins have a good view, not blocked by trees or nearby terrain: 34, 35, 36, 43, 46, 55, 56, 57, 58, 70, 71, 72, 73, 82, 83, 89, 90, 91, 96, 97, 98, 99.

Ok, so first of all let me say that the views are spectacular. Wow. They get a star just for that. I’d give them another star for being pet friendly. The third star is for having a place to sleep and a place to cook so we don’t have to eat out all the time.
Now, check-​in is all the way at the top of the mountain. There is not proper signage to find it so expect to make a couple wrong turns. Then you have to come down to actually find your cabin. This was really annoying when we just wanted to get there.
For being a pet-​friendly place there was nowhere to take our dog to go potty. We finally found a 3×1 foot area to let her go but that was literally it. Our dog is only 7 pounds so it was enough but a bigger dog would definitely have a problem. Also, the rugs in the place have definitely seen better days. There were definite pet stains and god knows what.
They knew that 3 people would be staying yet the pull out couch was only supplied with 1 sheet, and not the fitted sheet. No pillows and no blanket. They stopped by later that day to deliver some odds and end bedding that sufficed. Upon opening the pull out couch we found a pathetic mattress that was beyond uncomfortable. I chose to just cover the couch and sleep on top.
I wasn’t aware of it at the time but there were bugs on the bottom floor in the bathroom. But not too bad.
Because of all the wood, everything could be heard from upstairs. We were in one of the split cottages off to the side and we could hear noises from them as well. Needless to say, our dog didn’t like it.
Lastly, we were lucky to be on a little side road with our only neighbor being in our split cottage. But we definitely noticed the other cottages being sandwiched in on top of each other with very minimal and limited parking.
The views are definitely breathtaking. The cabin was pretty on the outside, minimal on the inside. Pet-​friendly only extends to pets being allowed in the cabins. Potty area is inadequate.
Cabins vary by owners and are just managed by legacy. So this review may not apply for all the cabins.
Would I return? …for the right price, right view, right cabin… maybe

2012 appears to be very different from the reviews that I’m seeing from the previous years.
We needed a cabin that could handle 41 people, so we rented the Legacy Lodge cabin with 12 bedrooms. It advertised it could handle 58 people. Here’s what we found:
PROs:
The cabins look just as pretty from the outside as they do in the pictures.
The views are spectacular.
The pool is clean and cool.
An exercise room is available.
The AC worked okay.
Cable available on all TV screens.
Beautiful looking furniture.
Pool table.
2 Hot tubs.
Daily trash pickup.
Very large DLP screen on bottom floor with seating for 10+ people.
CONs:.
Bugs and bugs and bugs were everywhere. They did send in a exterminator after we complained, but that did little to kill the centipedes that were crawling all over the bottom floor.
Rat/​mouse crap everywhere.
Futons are all stained and broken.
All shower curtains had mildew.
Bugs everywhere.
We had to request additional sheets and blankets for most bedrooms.
The cabin’s rugs were black with dirt before anyone arrived (we had several babies and couldn’t let them crawl on the carpets!)
Did I mention bugs?
Furniture was broken and stained with God-​knows-​what.
Most appliances worked, but were not in good shape.
The pool pass needs to be picked up every morning and returned every evening (9am — 9pm)
The exercise room is only open 9am — 9pm (open too late to be useful IMHO).
Some TVs were missing remotes.
Finding the club house was a chore for a lot of renters.
Other:
Not really a CON or PRO, but the heat exchangers are located below the deck on the back, so when it’s hot outside they are running constantly and make the deck hotter and noisier than it needs to be. They should have installed the heat exchangers on the side of the house.
It’s a cabin, so there’s not a lot of soft material to absorb the noise… it gets loud easily with a few children.
We were told by employees after we had all arrived that these larger cabins are rented by fraternities and sororities all the time and they come through and destroy everything. We can only assume the futon stains were bodily fluids.
We talked to a few of the other cabin renters and most of the smaller cabins renters only complained about bugs, but the renters’ of another large cabin had similar complaints as ours.

We stayed in the pleasant view cabin. Comes exactly as advertised online. I thought for sure the pictures were enhanced or photoshopped, but I was wrong. Stunning views. Very quiet, peaceful, and romantic.
Rooms and hot tub are very clean and comfortable.
The only complaint would be a limited amount of towels, but if that’s the only complaint you can see how wonderful these cabins are.

We had an excellent experience renting a cabin with Legacy Mountain Resort. The cabin was exactly as pictured on the website. It was sparkly clean. Cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in! We rented a cabin without a pool table however. Only the larger cabins have the pool table. We got the one bedroom with two full baths and two pull out sleeper sofas. (there were three of us) I must admit the sleeper sofa mattresses were not super comfortable, however. (One on each level) The furniture was very comfortable and clean. There was a hot tub on the lower deck that was nice and clean. The lower bathroom had a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The upper bathroom had a large shower stall. The views from every window were spectacular. We had an issue with bees around our unit and the maintenance came right away and assured us that the large bees were only eating the wood, they don’t sting, but they sprayed anyway. They were more like termites than the bees we are accustomed to. My only complaint was that our WiFi wasn’t particularly strong in our cabin – it was spotty and didn’t always work, but that depends on the cabin. If that is important to you – ie: you are working on vacation, you might want to clarify that your cabin has a secure WiFi server, as opposed to an unsecured server. Or, if you want to stream movies from Netflix… you aren’t going to be able to do that at night with the connection you get on the unsecured server. Another thing you might want to know is that most of the cabins do have DVD players, but make sure you don’t have a Blue Ray disc, because most just have regular DVD.
If you are looking for a clean cabin with incredible views and nice amenities, then this is the place for you. I would highly recommend the cabins here and if I ever came back to the region, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. It was perfection.

Doesn’t get any more ridiculously romantic and peaceful than this. There are extensive pictures of each cabin on their website, and yeah; this place delivers. Absurd views of the Smokies, balconies with hot tubs, and pool tables come with every cabin.
It’s pretty much the best place ever to do nothing, and incredibly secluded — yet it’s also an 8-​minute drive to the hilarious touristic hyperbole that is Pigeon Forge. Go karts, miniature golf, arcades, and random tourist attractions abound. I went in February and I already booked a trip to return in May.
A couple hundred bucks per night, for these huge awesome luxury cabins, is a great deal. Can’t rave enough.

This is the most beautiful place on the east coast and the surrounding towns have so much stuff to do you could spend a whole week here and never run out of things to do.
But the cabin itself was AWESOME!!!

We selected these cabins as part of our trip. My wife and kids both loved the cabin. The cabin was clean and came with all the amenities and a pool table. abbsolutely wonderful experience here
