History
Established in 1949.
In August 1949, two years after making the decision to open a bank in Glen Burnie, a charter was received and accepted. The Bank of Glen Burnie became reality. This was only the second bank in Maryland to open after the «Bank Holiday of 1933.»
Fred W. Kuethe was elected to serve as the first president of the bank of August 8, 1949 and maintained the position until his death in 1968. At that time John Demyan, Jr. was elected President, still maintaining his duties as Counsel for the bank, and served until August 31, 1987, when Henry L. Hein was elected to serve. Mr. Demyan was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors and continued to serve on the Executive Committee every Monday morning for many years thereafter.
